Don't ask me sh*t!
Don’t ask me sh*t!
From now on, I will never again give directions to a stranger. Today was the last straw.
I was having my lunch in this public food court, minding my own business, when
Dumb lost lady: Excuse me. I don’t mean to interrupt your lunch but can you tell me where the 701 building is?
Me: 701 what?
Dumb lost lady: There’s a meeting in the 701 building.
Me: What’s in the 701 building?
Dumb lost lady: My…

C: I honestly don’t care for the whole POC acronym, like just call me Black, that’s what I am, so no need to downplay it. When people use it as some solidarity I get confused because yes we may have “similar” backgrounds, but no they are not exactly the same, that’s why there’s such thing as different cultures. A lot of people, but not all use the acronym to piggyback off of Black people, don’t downplay what someone is when that’s just what they are.

We naturally put millionaires and billionaires in the same general class of person, but the only reason to do that is because the words are similar. Since these aren’t numbers we can actually visualize, it’s important to understand what a billion of something is. To travel a million inches, you’d have to travel from the Southern-most tip of Manhattan and go to the Bronx. To travel a billion inches, you’d have to fly from New York to Shanghai twice. A million seconds is a little over 11 days. A billion seconds is nearly 32 years. A million ounces is about the weight of a train car. A billion ounces is 4.5 Eiffel Towers. Use these to conceptualize what the difference between a millionaire and a billionaire is, and the absurd amount of wealth we’re talking about.

It’s scary – Bell, Cineplex, Shaw, and Rogers are trying to censor the internet and force the end of net neutrality in Canada. And worse, they’re trying to do it behind closed doors.
These 4 companies, led by Bell, are pushing to create an internet “blacklist” of certain websites that all internet service providers in Canada would legally have to block. They know this outrageous proposal would never pass, so first, they tried to sneak it into NAFTA negotiations – and now Bell is expected to introduce its proposal to Canada’s telecom regulator TOMORROW.
Critics are calling this move “unprecedented” and dangerous. If these companies get their way, this internet blacklist would have absolutely zero oversight in the courts. We need to stop this urgently.

So what? You had a bad semester. You gained some weight. So what? You’re single again. You lost your job. So what? What now? You live. You try again. That’s what.

As we approach the Holiday season, think about those less fortunate, and the what the reality of being less fortunate means for millions of American citizens (ie fellow humans) as laid out by the incomparable @seananmcguire
