one of the fascinating things about asta's backstories is that even in a futuristic setting such as hsr, it is implied that she was still suppressed by the traditional views of her family before herta personally demanded for her to work at the space station.

to summarise: asta was always fascinated with the stars even as a child, and her family initially viewed it as an achievement— but not bc she possessed great intellect, but rather bc she knew how to pick out the most 'expensive' items in her search for high-quality equipment to further her research. but even so, their so-called praise wasn't truly honest; they viewed asta's stargazing as a mere childish whim.

and so when she grew older, her family became less and less interested in her career and tried to convince her to give it up for the sake of fulfilling her role as a wealthy young heiress— which, to my personal interpretation, involves her getting married to an equally wealthy partner.

I personally found this intriguing to note bc in the other planets of hsr, there's little to no implications of such views being prevalent anywhere, even in belobog which is supposed to be isolated from the rest of the universe. so even in a society as advanced and futuristic as the setting of hsr, there's still a fair amount of people who expect women to give up their careers and achievements to put their family first

of course, I have no idea about whether or not this was an intentional plot point for the writers, but I think it's really neat to expand upon! I think Asta is sorely underrated, and I really wanna make more stuff for her (and Fred!) because of all the possibilities to explore
