the important thing is that stolarz is okay and out of hospital, but one day someone is going to take a shot to the head just like that and they won't be. it won't be a question, it won't be a debate, it'll be a clear and devastating injury immediately resulting from head contact that has been practically endorsed by the dops over and over and over again. they refuse to draw the connection between head injuries in the nhl and cte, they refuse to acknowledge the danger that reckless and/or intentional hits to the head pose to their current players, and they refuse to hand out consequences for actions that are actively lowering the life expectancy of their employees. even if there is no intent, you don't get away with crimes just because you committed them accidentally. being reckless and careless is not any less dangerous than intentionally injuring someone. reckless drivers don't change their ways by getting let off easy. they get fines, and suspensions, and if that doesn't work they're not allowed to drive anymore. because it doesn't matter if you want to run someone over with your car, or if you're drunk, or if you just weren't paying enough attention, when someone gets hurt or killed there are consequences. it just feels like one day we're going to wake up and witness something truly horrific and have to wonder what might have been if anyone running the nhl had the guts to fix their broken system now.
