Hello everyone! I've heard news about Dashingdon unfortunately having to shut down. I don't know if anyone is still interested in TCS since I haven't updated in a LONG time as life has been difficult these past few years and it's been hard to get myself to continue a project that I loved so dearly. I do hope to one day return and continue writing but for now I don't know if I can. With that said, I have moved The Caged Songbird demo to cogdemos.ink. Here is the link for anyone who wishes to play it again. Sorry if there are any mistakes/errors. Feel free to message me and I will do my best to fix them when I can.

The Caged Songbird Update [02/24/20]

Hello everyone! I know it’s been a really long time since I lasted posted anything, I’m terribly sorry for disappearing on all of you like that but I want to thank you for all the lovely messages of support you have sent me throughout the past year. All I can say about my sudden hiatus is that life has been very difficult for me lately and I’ve been struggling both emotionally and financially this past year causing me to have to put a pause on a lot of things. I probably still won’t be posting often but I just wanted to let you all know that The Caged Songbird is something I hold very dear to my heart and I have not given up on it. I have been making VERY slow progress on it and unfortunately don’t have any real big updates for all of you but I will continue working on it and hopefully have something for you guys by the end of this year.

I have also not forgotten the other project that I had mentioned and was hoping to surprise you all with. Unfortunately, I went back and scrapped most of it but I’m working on a new and hopefully more improved version of it. I hope to have that completed by the end of this year but I make no promises. Once again, it will be a completely free interactive story related to The Caged Songbird that I will be posting up on dashingdon.

Anyways that is all I have to say for now, thank you all for continuing to stick around and for being so incredibly patient with me. I truly appreciate it.♡

“Mind telling me where you’re taking me? We’ve been walking for quite awhile now.”

The woman's heels clicked loudly throughout the hall as she briskly walked ahead of me, forcing me to walk faster. 

“Now, now, there’s no need to fret, we’re almost there.”

Reaching the end of a corridor, the burgundy haired woman reaches into her lab coat and takes out a card, sliding it through the scanner in front of her. With a simple beep and a click, the door opens slowly revealing a completely dark gray room. We both take a step inside, the door closing behind us.

"Now 378, please stand in the middle, right where the x is."

I cautiously follow her instructions watching as she makes her way up some stairs that lead to a small room located in the top right corner.

"Alright 378, can you hear me?"

I nod.

"Fantastic. Now let's commence the simulation."

Wait...what!?

Ahhh thank you for liking my writing. Sometimes I feel like it isn't the best but I'm constantly trying to improve. The project is just a little something that I had been working on for awhile now. All I can say is that it's connected to The Caged Songbird and it'll be kind of like a short interactive story that'll be completely free on dashingdon.

Hi, just wanted to say I loved the demo, I was getting some X-men vibes from how the inmates are treated and how similar the mc is to rogue, was x-men one of your inspiration for your story?

Hello! I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Ah, yes! X-men was a huge inspiration for the story. I grew up watching and reading the comics and I just absolutely loved it as a kid. For some reason I just always felt like I could relate to the characters and they just felt more realistic to me. Like they all had their problems and none of them were perfect, which I really like. Rogue was one of my favorites and I just kind of always wondered what it would be like to live with super powers similar to hers.

Fear - Theo/Tera

Hello everyone! As a way to apologize for the lack of updates, I wrote a short little uh thing XD This is just kind of random and it’s in T’s perspective. Hopefully you guys enjoy it! I might do one for the other characters later as well but I make no promises.

"Just the very sight of you makes me sick."

I let out a deep sigh as I lift my mask slightly off, fanning myself with my free hand.

The summer heat was starting to become almost unbearable, sweat began to drip from my temple. Surely taking off the irritating mask would help elevate some of the warmth but—

My gaze lands on the figure seated across from me. Their eyes glued onto the sheet before them.

I'm not alone.

The same words I hear each time I think of taking off my mask resound throughout my mind, "No one would want to be near something like you."

I shake my head, frustrated at not only that voice but at myself for listening to it. That's right I can't take this mask off, especially not in front of them.

"Psst, Theo/Tera."

Their whispered words ring throughout my ears causing a warm sensation to run through my chest.

Looking up at their face, I feel my heart beat quicken. The corners of their eyes crinkling ever so slightly as they give me a mischievous look.

"What do you say we get out of here and go find something to cool us off, hm?”

I smile at the suggestion, “As lovely as that sounds--” I look to the side where the guard in charge of keeping watch was currently lazily lounging about, “I don’t think we’ll be able to just waltz on out of here without getting caught.”

They look over towards the guard, “I honestly doubt they’ll even notice. I mean look at him! He’s about to topple over in his seat. We can make a run for it.”

Their eyes twinkled as they began to gather their things together.

“Alright, but if we get caught let’s find a way to blame Noah/Nadia for it.”

They let out a small chuckle, “Sounds good to me.”

We hurriedly gather our things and tiptoe our way out of the room, holding our breaths in until we were absolutely sure the guard wouldn’t be able to hear us anymore.

I rest my back up onto the closest wall, letting out a deep sigh in relief. I gaze towards [name], their eyes locking onto my own. They let out a snort before completely bursting out in laughter causing me to follow suit.

“I can’t believe we did it! Did you see the looks on the others faces?”

I nod still not able to hold back my own laughter.

“You know, I think this is the first time I have ever seen you laugh this much.”

I freeze, the warm glow that radiated off of them as they looked at me causing my heart beat to quicken once again. How long has it been since I could last  sincerely say that I felt complete joy and peace being in another’s presence?

Yet even in this moment there was that one dreaded emotion bubbling inside me.

Fear.

Those words that played like a curse once again appearing in my mind.

"No one would want to be near something like you! After all, a monster like you doesn’t deserve love.”

I looked back up at [name]. The smile on their face still present, the sight of them caused my heart to wretch.

I want to be loved so please, if there's a higher being out there, I beg of you. Don't let this person see what I’m really like.

As for the RO’s reaction...

Theo/Tera:

Would be absolutely devastated at seeing the MC getting hurt. They see themselves as someone not even worth having someone else risk their lives for them, so for the MC to go that far they would probably feel horrible. They wouldn’t even be thankful since they would be way to consumed with worry for the MC. They would become extremely over protective of the MC after that.

Elias/Ebony:

I’m going to give a non-answer for them since it’s kind of a spoiler. Let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty to see how they would react.

Amos/Anya:

Would probably curse at the MC lol. Telling them how stupid they are and not to be risking their lives for others all the while crying at seeing the MC hurt. Probably yelling at other people to get medical support quick, then yell at the medical support to do their job quickly. Overall they would just be a yelling and crying mess.

Noah/Nadia:

It depends on how hurt the MC is. If the MC didn’t get too hurt then they would simply thank them but if they got seriously injured AND if N has feelings for the MC then they would be completely outraged. They would make sure that whoever fired the gun was no longer on this planet.

Hello! I’m sorry for the lack of updates and thank you so much for worrying about me.<3 I’m doing alright. Things are still a little rocky for me but it’s getting better. I’m still working on The Caged Songbird! Hopefully I’ll be able to give you all good news sometime soon. Once again thank you everyone for the support and I hope everyone is doing well!

If MC had a really terrible nightmare about losing Ro or simmilar thing, how would ROs react to it? On a side note is it possible to fail romance?

T: Would do their best to comfort the MC. They would tell the MC that they're fine and they're still here with them. They would just cuddle the MC to death. T is the type to often have nightmares like that so they would feel horrible if the MC was experiencing them.

E: Probably wouldn't know what to do. They might just tell MC that everything is ok and that they're alive but that's about it. Maybe awkwardly pat their head? They wouldn't really  know how else to comfort them.

A: Would probably call the MC dumb and say they have nothing to worry about. They would say how they're completely indestructible and nothing can hurt them so MC shouldn't worry so much. The next morning they would probably make them breakfast saying that it doesn't mean anything, they just felt like cooking but deep down inside they did it hoping it would make the MC feel better.

N: They would hold the MC close and whisper in their ear, saying that everything is ok right now and that in this very moment there's no need to worry. Gently stroking their back and combing their hair with their fingers, hoping to sooth the MC.

I thought long and hard on this because 1. I want people to enjoy romances without being worried if they'll accidently say/hit something the RO doesn't like 2. I want the romances to feel somewhat real and in real life people won't always agree or like what you say.

In the end I decided that you can't really fail in a romance (except for 2) but depending on how high your relationships is with them you'll just get different reactions/interactions with them.

So there will be 2 ROs *coughnandmysterycharactercough* who you can fail with just because they're jerks but the others are fine.

[2/27/19] Demo Update!!

Omg guys I'm so sorry for the super late update. Life has been a little rough for me lately and it was just hard for me to get myself to come on here (or anywhere really) and post. I'm still working on The Caged Songbird though! Things are just going at a very slow pace at the moment.

The demo update isn't a huge one. It's just most of chapter 2, like always I'll go back later and make corrections and possible changes. There's a choice towards the end of the chapter that isn't completely finished so I'll be working on that asap. For now I'll just be focusing on writing chapter 3. Which I have thankfully already started. I really hope I'll be getting out of my slump soon and be able to write for you all again.

Ah, I’m really sorry but no, you can not date Jace. >.<

I know I always say I’m surprised by Westley’s popularity but honestly I’m much more surprised by how well liked Jace is. I wonder if people will still like him this much after they find out more about him? He really has no interest in romance at all and barely even cares for people. The MC can befriend him but don’t expect him to care too deeply about them. If Jace ever has to choose between his friendship with the MC or something that will benefit him, he will always chose the latter.

Update [1/28/19]

Update time~!

I have finally finished chapter 2!!

 After a couple of stressful weeks, I was finally able to sit down and actually write. So expect a demo update soon! Although by soon I mean like next week, probably Monday lol.

Here’s another little snippet of ch. 2:

-This only happens if you decide to hangout with Penelope-

"Here we are!" Penelope barges into a room, opening the door wide open for me.

I look around the room, slightly surprised at how colorful it was. I had gotten so use to the dull white walls that seemed to be everywhere I turned. This room was a lightly colored pastel blue, a book case in one corner, two cream colored couches laid out in the middle of the room with a coffee table in between them, that had drinks and snacks gathered on top it. 

Although the most shocking thing about this room was the grumpy looking man that sat in a desk on the other corner of the room.

"Penelope what did I tell you about slamming the door open!" Dr. Wisteria's gaze lands on me, "And what is 378 doing here?"

I'm just gonna say it: i know i shouldn't but i love Nadia and im ready to have my heart broken (even more now that i saw how beautiful she is)

Hahaha oh no! I really hope you truly are prepared for it because oh boy it’s gonna be a bumpy ride with them.

I hope it gives some comfort that when Nadia/Noah finds out that the MC truly does have deep feelings for them, they’ll feel bad about playing around.

Update [1/21/19]

Sorry for posting no update last Monday. To make up for it here’s a super quick and badly colored sketch of Nadia!

Anyways I’m halfway through ch.2, I’ve finished writing Penelope’s and Jace’s, split scene! I’m now working on Eden and Westley. There will also be a scene that I think most will find surprising. A new character will be introduced in that scene, I hadn’t planned for them to appear so soon but sometimes things don’t happen like we plan. I also hadn’t planned for ch.2 to take me this long to write lol.

As another gift, here’s a sneak peak into ch.2:

My eyes slowly fluttered open. I squint a bit as the bright rays of sun shine right  onto my face, a gust of wind passing through and lightly caressing my cheeks. 

I prop myself onto my elbows, feeling the soft touch of grass beneath my bare hands.

......Wait? My hands?

I quickly look down at my glove less hands, feeling panic rise into the pit of my stomach.

"MC. You're finally awake." 

My gaze shifts towards the figure beside me and I feel my whole body begin to shake. My eyes widen in pure terror and a sudden urge to vomit passes through me.
