Hi, I wished you wrote for the comics Ludí cause ur HCs for Romy are the best! I really liked ur HC on oliver lebeau being a mamas boy. Could you go into detail to what his relationship to both rogue and gambit would be like?

First off, I want to say thank you so much for the sweet compliment, and secondly, I want to apologise for taking so long to respond to this. I've been thinking your question on and off for ages now, because I'm not sure there's one way I think about Olivier LeBeau (he has different stories in different AU's I've written), but I will say that a lot of what I see in his relationship with his parents has been influenced by Claremont's GeneXt, where he has a rocky relationship with Remy. In my HC, I wouldn't say it's to the extent that they don't talk to one another (as in the case in GeneXt), but that they can butt heads because their personalities are quite different. Of the 3 LeBeau siblings (that are my HC's - Olivier, Rebecca and Irene), I see Oli as the serious, more grounded one. Not to say that he isn't fun or anything, but he has a very strong sense of justice, of right and wrong, and is perhaps a little overly idealistic and sensitive (which he gets from his mother). As the first child, Rogue was perhaps a little overly protective of him, as she never expected to have children, and is a little insecure about it. By the time the girls came along, she could afford to be a bit more hands off. 😊

As far as the Guilds go - in my HC, Oli ends up being the heir to the Thieves Guild (either because Henri passed on without children, or because Mercy LeBeau couldn't have children), and the weight of that responsibility is very troubling to him. He doesn't want it - not that he doesn't love the extended LeBeau family, but he sees his path taking another direction, and he doesn't want to feel forced into the prescriptive life of being a thief (which is a path he never took), and he doesn't want the responsibility of running a Guild (I think also, he has a little bit of insecurity about himself and his abilities. He was a serious child who takes everything seriously. He feels deeply, he thinks deeply. As the eldest, and the only son, he sees himself as a protector of his sisters, and of his wider family. He's inherited his father's devotion, but his mother's insecurity. So while he yearns to be his own person, he is constantly thinking of others, and how his actions will affect them. This makes him very conflicted sometimes, but he tends to bottle things up rather than talk about his worries).

Rebecca is the exuberant middle child, who has a big personality and no fear. Like I said in another post, she is Remy's little princess, who shares his daring (and, let's be honest, his moral greyness). She loves going thieving with her dad, and spending time with the Thieves Guild. I like to think that eventually, Oli will just gives the reins of the Guild leadership over to her, because she is a much better fit. The two love one another dearly, although they sometimes do clash spectacularly (and Rebecca clashes with a lot of people a lot of the time, because she is so fiery - although she does learn to tame that temper as she gets older). Oli wants to protect his sister - she insists she needs no protecting!

Irene is less fleshed out in my mind, because she came very late in canon, but I do see her as the artistic, dreamy, creative youngest child, who is happy with her own company to a large extent. There's a bigger gap between her and Rebecca than Oli and Rebecca, so those two assume a surrogate parenting role over her. That's all I have for her right now. I have her a bit more fleshed out in the Tailor and the Seamstress AU, but that's another story!

Anyway, thank you for listening to me rattle this all off the top of my head without looking at my notes! Like I've said before, I think about the LeBeau children quite a lot. I just don't write about them often. So if this all sounds jumbled, I apologise! It's nice to give them a voice though, so thank you for prompting me to get this out! It's a ton of fun to think about Romy's future family and how their dynamics shake out. There's so much meat on that bone - almost too much - that sometimes I don't know where to start!
