Been sorting through histories of hard drives. With the launch of @bernlorestudios this month, and @bernlorerecords next month, there are many projects rolling in and out, old and new. @pitchandbark is one of those projects. A post-rock/post-punk band I started nearly ten years ago when I decided to pick up an instrument and start writing music again after the rigorous internal war that left me soundless for some time. The music and lineup of @pitchandbark changed heavily over its years; we wrote, recorded and performed a healthy amount throughout the Southwest and up the front range of the Rocky Mountains. I believe now that all of that music deserves to be heard, or at least accessible on modern platforms for those interested, and maybe for some people who don’t know they’re interested yet. Over the coming months @bernlorestudios will be sorting through all the Pitch&Bark it can find, fixing some things that need attention, revitalizing, remastering, getting ready for @bernlorerecords to share some of these sleepy gems with the world. I feel fortunate to be able to revisit some of these musical creations with new ears, some new tools, a new mind and a new home at bernlore. It is time for me to introduce the first glimpse of a thing that feels like I have been working on my whole life. Bernlore. While it is of-course a multitude of complex, deep, profound things to me, I have been patiently crafting Bernlore over the past year into something clear, a conduit (*or the master bucket to hold all other [brain] buckets) through which I will share, develop and grow the variety of artworks that I am actively engaged in and passionate about. Initially, there will be two branches of Bernlore. The first, launching this month, is @bernlorestudios - offering production services, including audio mixing + mastering, music production + composition, as well as the many rad video + film projects that I get to work on, including music videos, narrative films, and documentary work. I’ve got a lot of passions. In September, @bernlorerecords will launch as the record label branch of Bernlore. I couldn’t be more excited to announce and release a variety of new works, old works and new-old works over the coming months, years and beyond. Stay tuned. I sometimes imagine what my younger-self would think if he saw some of the things I see now on a daily basis, like... this. What is this? I mean really, check out that image for a few seconds. Actually, I had a Star Trek (the next generation) tricorder when I was a kid, which I probably would have scanned over this thing before getting too close, so... not far off. Though I would have been startled if my tricorder started playing music that I would produce in the future. But would I know it was my music, would I like it? Anyway...... When I first heard the phone-recorded demos of his songs (which would become EP1: Burner), I heard the good magic and was thrilled he was asking me to bring it to life.
