Well that is the 2022 season done with, I’m extremely proud of myself for persevering after a constant 4 years of injuries, from back & obliques, to groin and then the elbow, but that’s in the past, this was a real comeback season for me and I got more than I was expecting a few new pbs, and a more consistent set of throws, something I’d wanted for an extremely long time and didn’t think I’d achieve. I’ve been self coached for a long time now. But my goal for winter in to seek advice from the wide range of new coaches/friends I’ve met this year to help get my confidence back and progress into the 2023 season. As well as training myself “full time” I’ve also been constantly working to help others, this year has been by far the most insane year for myself and my throwers. We have gone above and beyond what I ever thought was possible, especially for me, a few years ago i didn’t think I deserved to be at big events as coach of anything I avoided “chit chat” This year it really became clear that I have every right to be there. I’ve traveled to Finland after the 3rd invite, but not having the confidence to travel, and there is plenty more to come. @beneast_ I started working with Ben when we was 10, starting with a fone javelin in the sports hall. And then with the 400g on the runway. A young lad that just enjoyed throwing a stick. But was very determined to put the work in to get it further. Fast forward 8+ years. Ben achieved not only him England vest but also his @teamgb vest. An 18 year old, coached by a 26 year old, both from small towns @penny__post @newburytoday , competing for a local athletics club (team kennet) on a track In the middle of nowhere it’s just amazing! @cazmaz06 Brandon who finished his U17 season with a throw of 44.95 Brandon is a valuable member to the group. Constantly supporting others William finished his u13 season with a throw of 37m! Final comp to end to the season. Had thought it would of been emotional with the difficulties I’d had previously but overall extremely happy with the outcome, 2016 was when injury led to injury and ultimately ended with a fractured spine. Fast forward to 2020/2021 and spending majority of lockdown on mobility. I finally after 4 seasons reached 60m again something I didn’t expect. Doesn’t seem a lot for some, but for me it’s something that I had to admit I might never get again. This is the second time around for me now. And learning from how I trained before this time rounds going to be better. It’s been a very weird season for @beneast_ & @phoebehoaen From being thrown into a season full of back to back big competitions with barley any real winter training. dealing with the mental and physical strain on themselves throughout the season. Today they both took part In the inter-county’s at oxford. And represented perfectly. They know themselves it’s been a tough season. But i pride myself of all 3 of us working together to deal with the issues ahead. And it worked out. Yes there are always things to improve. But to be honest I don’t care. I’d rather both of them enjoy themselves. @phoebehoaen walked away with a throw of 38m and a smile on her face. @beneast_ walked away with a season best of 61m and a smile of his face. 2016 was the last time I was healthy. But was also the year i experienced multiple injuries in a row. Resulting in distances of 40m. 2021 4th competition this weekend coming. And I’ve just thrown 60 & 61m in a training session and 10+ other throws over 58. Couldn’t be fu*king happier.
