→Imagine: The Small Things
✦ Imagine: The small things that genshin male characters do for you to show their love! ✦Characters: Albedo, Ayato, Zhongli, and Y/N! ✦I like thinking about the small things in life that an SO does to make you feel more appreciated/loved, so this thought inspired this imagine!
✦Albedo
The bubbling of mixed elements in a glass beaker was oddly comforting as you stared at the small flame in front of you. This was a new normal for you and the seemingly perfect man who you had recently started dating, you would trek up Stormbearer Mountains, snow crunching with each step.
You couldn’t lie, the cold was getting to you as you sat huddled by your only source of warmth as the sound of Albedo’s work filled the emptiness. While he was an intelligent man, he had a tendency to dive headfirst into things, leading you to be in the freezing temperatures for hours before he decided that he had done enough work for the day.
Your body was engulfed in a sweater much too large for you, the fabric swallowing you hole as you tried to keep yourself from asking Albedo how long it would be until you left. You certainly didn’t mind spending time with him, but it did sometimes feel like the man loved his chemical reactions more than you.
Albedo was scrabbling hurried notes, his handwriting imperfect as he tried to capture every detail about the reaction and it’s results. Yet, for once it was a bit hard for him to focus, his gaze often drifting towards you. He couldn’t help but find your shivering to be oddly charming, cheeks and nose flushed from the chill.
Before long, he closed his notebook, slowly making his way behind you and left the unfinished experiment behind. Sitting beside you, he wrapped his arms around you, his soft blond hair brushing against your almost numb cheek. The tingling sensation along with your lovers arms caused you to giggle, shooting a sweet smile at the scientist.
“You looked cold,” he hummed against your head, hardly taking in his words due to your desperate attempt to wrap your arms around him, soaking in his body heat. “I am!”
His hand rested on your waist, keeping your body close and for once, he did notice how the cold air of the mountains seemed to try to separate you two. “Would you like me to take you home, love?” his blue eyes gazing softly at you, seeming to beg for you to agree.
“If you do will you stay and keep me warm?”
The normally stoic man gave you a genuine smile on his soft features, “That’s an experiment I would gladly partake in, [Y/N].”
✦Ayato
If only other people knew the side of Ayato that you got to see, the side of the dignified man that wasn’t displayed to the general public. Maybe then, people would stop acting like this man was an angel who had descended from the heavens.
You were the one who had to deal with his constant teasings, the one who would desperately try to come up with rebuttals but be shot down with elegant one liners. His favorite way to tease you was to call you childish, teasing you for being bored of politics or not caring much for laws along with making fun of your fascination with flowers and bugs.
Ayato would often tussle your hair a bit, smirking as he noticed how bored you had gotten with the conversation. “Oh my, is the economic state of Inazuma not relevance to you?” he teased, purposefully trying to get hair in your face. “Seems like this topic was a bit too advanced for your childlike brain, hmm?” Needless to say, every time it happened you were frantically defending yourself.
It was days like today where you knew his taunts would be relentless, your eyes already wandering around the large room. You were looking for entertainment duo to those currently talking definitely not providing any of that. It was the monthly briefing meeting, truly you didn’t care about much of the details but you knew it involved important people taking about important stuff.
Ayato sat across from you, not wanting to admit it but his eyes had lingered on you multiple times. He was paying attention to the reports of course, writing down the most important pieces of information down as they spoke. He could already tell by the far away look in your eyes, you were bored out of your mind and desperate for freedom.
In a way, he could relate to your childish antics of wanting to avoid politics, but he knew his place in society. Yet, he also knew that with this position he was able to advantage of his role and give you the freedom to do what you want.
Giving a small cough to interrupt their discussion, Ayato stood, “This was a lovely meeting, I will be ending this meeting early due to unexpected plans,” he explained with a touch of grace to his tone, “Don’t hesitate to enjoy more refreshments but I will be taking my leave. [Y/N] join me?” Making his way towards you, he help out his hand to lead your way out of the office. Blinking a bit in confusion, you accepted the extended the hand and followed as he lead the way.
“Why’d you do that Ayato? You always say that those are important and I should pay more attention,” you pointed out the obvious as the two of you walked, causing Ayato to give you an eye roll. “Love, anyone in that room could tell you would rather be doing anything else,” he poked your ribs pretty harshly, a yelp passing you and you glared back at him, his reaction not quite as satisfying.
“I was simply being your knight in shining armor,” he explained, your slight bickering continuing as he lead you on a small adventure.
Your destination a small street food vendor in Inazuma, the two of you happily munching on some sweets as you sat underneath a tree. As you babbled on about your ideas and plans, Ayato couldn’t help but smile, promising himself to bring you on more outings like this.
“Though, [Y/N], you do look ravishing like this, with the trees and the food and all,” he mused kindly and before you could respond, he continued with a smile of his own, “I know I tease you relentlessly, but your childishness is refreshing to see.”
“Ah, you’re embarrassing me,” you mumbled, a blush on your cheeks before turning to face the man who always bested you, “I admire you as well, Ayato.”
✦Zhongli
A candle flame flickered, providing illumination in a room that was other swallowed by darkness. Light rays reflected off the walls, allowing your features to be identifiable, Zhongli was relishing in the glow due to normally being forced to simply feel your features in the dark.
Seeing you now, your hair was messily spread around the pillow and your gaze was unsteady, eyelids drooping with clear sleepiness written over them.
“Aren’t you tired, darling?” Zhongli asked, brushing some hair out of your face before moving to spoon you, his body pressed behind yours softly.
This was a nightly ritual that you relished in, making you sometimes begging Zhongli to come to bed earlier so that you can experience these tender times. You weren’t sure why he was so sweet on you at bedtime, but the comfort he provided simply couldn’t be matched by anyone else.
“I am Zhongli..,” you trailed off for a second as your eyes fluttered closed, wanting to drift off into sleep but jolting awake due to realizing you were in the middle of a sentence. “Ah, Zhongli, tell me a story, please.”
As you spoke you changed positions, moving to face his broad chest and resting your head against his pecs and closing your eyes, waiting on him to comply. “Of course, darling,” he answered you softly, feeling the vibrations from his throat as he spoke.
As he told you countless stories, he painted you beautiful words of fiction that had been passed down for centuries. His story telling was immerse and you easily found yourself getting lost in the worlds he created, but your attention was slowly slipping.
As he ran a hand along your back, rubbing small circles you felt yourself getting pulled into a sweet slumber. It wasn’t long until your breathing was a streaky rhythm, Zhongli giving your forehead a soft kiss.
“Sleep well, sweet love,” Zhongli whispered, he couldn’t help but see you in such a loving light. He found that the more he looked at your delicate, sleeping figure the more he was falling for you. He whispered another silent promise, knowing full well that you wouldn’t reply, “I love you.”
You didn’t respond much, but by the way you desperately clung to him and the small smile on your features, he knew that you returned his sentiment.

→Imagine: Xiao getting jealous over another protecting you
✦I got a request for a jealous Xiao, and I'm here to deliver! I cannot help but eat up the jealousy! @mei-core ✦Characters: Just Xiao and Y/N ✦TW: None, but this is a little suggestive towards the end.
Your steps were giddy as you paraded your new friend around Liyue, small giggles passing your lips as you gestured to certain monuments throughout the city. Downtown Liyue was a place that you loved, but you knew that you weren't able to be there as much as you wanted, this was solely due to the short adeptus who normally followed beside you.
As much as you loved Xiao, you did wish that you could spend some more time in the city due to it providing a lot of venues for dates. Of course, you respected his wishes and spent a lot of time out of the city, opting for smaller, outlandish spots that allowed for Xiao's comfort.
So, when you met an unfamiliar face in Wangshu Inn and you got along well, you were quick to offer them a small tour of the city. You knew that Xiao would be a bit uncomfortable with the idea, but your knowledge of the city was vast so you were sure that you could be a help to this new face.
"Ah, where are my manner?" A small giggle passed your lips as you glanced back at the new friend, holding out your hand casually, "I'm [Y/N], I hope we get along super well! I'm glad to have met you!" your voice was lively, happy to get along with another.
The man who glanced at you returned your smile, pleased to already have an ally in the foreign land, "Ah, the pleasure is actually mine, friend," his words were enough to cause a soft blush on your cheeks, but you didn't see any flirtatious intention behind them. "I'm Kamisato Ayato, thank you once again for this joyous tour of your lovely city."
Nodding along to his words, you glanced at the waters, planning your next place to show him before he spoke once more. "Do you live around here?" the question was unexpected, but you answered honestly, "Oh, no, I live in the Wangshu Inn," you realized it sounded a bit odd before continuing, "I promise it's nice though, I enjoy it there almost as much as I enjoy it in the city!"
An amused smile played on his almost divine features, Ayato humming as he grabbed your hand leading you back towards where you had come. "Maybe one day I can give you a tour on Inazuma, though your heart seems to be set on Liyue I must admit," he mused before you glanced down at your hands, pulling yours from his and absentmindedly rubbing them off on your jacket.
"That does sound really fun," you answered a little shyly, "though I have to admit I've never been to Inazuma-" you stopped before continuing your thought, "Where are we going?"
"I wanted you to show me more of Wangshu Inn, I think the excitement of the city blinded you to the beauty of your home," he explained as he tried to remember his way out of the city. Connecting the dots in your mind, you were quick to agree, taking charge and leading him on the correct path towards your home.
Xiao was getting antsy, pacing around the wooden planks of Wangshu Inn as he had expected you to have come home by now. Surely you would've called his name if you needed him, but you hadn't. So why were you not with him yet?
He had seen you talking to the mysterious stranger, he couldn't lie that a small feeling inside of him was telling him that surely whatever was happening wasn't right. It certainly didn't help that the man you were talking to was strikingly tall with elegant features. When you left with him, he wanted to question you, but he also didn't want to overstep any boundaries so he simply watched you walk away with this stranger.
Now, he waited with anxious ears to hear you call his name.
As you and Ayato walked toward the inn, you were surprised to see a group of hilichurls and an abyss mage, your heart sinking as you thought about endangering your new guest.
"I'm sorry Ayato, since we're outside of the city, sometimes they gather here," you mumbled the explanation quietly, about to call for Xiao as the tall male stood in front of you, shielding you from the group as they quickly started to ambush you, swinging fire lit sticks in front of your frames.
"Don't fret, I can make quick work of this group," his words were elegant as he pulled out his sword, a dangerous glint in his eyes as he stepped towards the group.
"Well, i-I can get Xiao," you were barely above a whisper as he skillfully eliminated the group within seconds, clearly your new friend was well versed in the art of swordsmanship. Before Ayato could return to your side, Xiao had already appeared there, a frantic look in his eyes but not distinguishable to those that didn't know him.
"What happened?" he was quick to ask, glancing between you and the man with his sword drawn, Xiao already readying a weapon and you were quick to grab his arm. "Ah, it's okay, love, Ayato saved me from a group of hilichurls and an abyss mage! It was scary but he's pretty skilled."
Ayato turned around to face you both with a polite smile, but Xiao didn't return it, simply glaring at the stranger before looking down at you. "Why didn't you call me before?" he asked in a shushed chide, but before you could respond Ayato spoke up.
"[Y/N] was a lovely help today, she gave me an extensive tour of this land. Though I have to say I do have other endeavors I must attend to, it was nice to meet you both," his mind ran with ideas as he spoke, but the smile on his face hid any intentions within his mind. A gentle smile graced your lips, "Thank you for accompanying me! Have a great day."
Xiao didn't bother to say a parting with the other, so Ayato shrugged as he turned away, making his way towards his temporary home before pausing and turning around with a flirtatious smirk, "Oh, [Y/N], don't forget about the promise to tour Inazuma with me, yes? I'll make concrete plans soon, doll." And with that final goodbye, he took his leave.
The look of shock on your face was nothing compared to Xiao's expression, his gritted teeth, and furrowed brows were telling that he was pissed. "Xiao, I didn't plan anything like that, he just suggested it!" You were quick to defend yourself but it fell on deaf ears as he grabbed your hand with a huff, leading you back to your shared room.
As you got into the room, he was quick to press you against the now-closed door, his breathing a bit faster than normal, his steady gaze locking into your eyes. You normally never saw him like that, so it felt like your heart was beating out of your chest.
"I do not like him." His words were blunt and he took a small breath before continuing his tone a little calmer but still with the same resolve, "I don't want him around you, I don't want him protecting you, I don't want you going to Inazuma. Please." The pleasantry was added to the end due to human customs, but you knew he was serious in his demands.
"I agree, he passed a line," you tried to calm him a bit but you could tell that it wasn't working that much.
He grabbed your chin, forcing your face up towards his, he didn't wait a moment before feverishly pressing his lips against yours, the kiss obviously something that he had wanted to do in front of Ayato. He pulled away after a moment, both of your cheeks flushed red and were clearly calmed down.
"I don't know why I got so upset about this happening, love," he whispered as he pushed a loose strand of hair behind your ear, his lips then softly pecking at your cheek.
"Hmm, I think it's called jealousy. You're worried someone else wants me," your tone was teasing as you shot him a wink, causing him to shoot you a dirty look, which caused you to feel bad. Softly, you pushed him towards your shared bed, smirking as you climbed on top of his lap.
"Fine, let me show you that I'm only yours."

No romance with underage characters. I normally avoid even writing underage characters due to that just making me feel uncomfortable.
Please be understanding if it takes me a minute to get to your request. I try to do request while also writing my own ideas so it can be time consuming.
I need a general idea of what you want for your request, but not too much information. Too much information can overwhelm me and blocks my creativity.
If what you request has already been requested by someone else, I will tag you in that post.

→ Imagine: Critical Hit! You’ve been critically injured, how will they react, and more importantly, will you survive?
✦ Characters: Kaeya, Itto, and of course Y/N! ✦ Possible Triggers: Angst, Blood, Mentions of grief and death. ✦I live for angst my friends >:) I’ll write more fluff soon though to ease the pain <3 ✦Part 2 will be linked here when done, it will likely have Diluc, Albedo, and Childe!
✦Kaeya
You were a capable, quick witted knight so when you had asked Kaeya to join his squadron, he didn’t hesitate to allow you to join his ranks. Blending nicely with your peers, it had been a smooth transition into a strong section of the knights.
There was only one tiny problem, you were quick to jump into dangerous situations if you thought that Kaeya needed your help. When asked why you did this, you always answered something about loyalty and that you’d do the same for anyone else, but it was clear that you were literally putting your life at risk for a man who hadn’t returned your advances yet.
Truly, Kaeya had planned to talk to you about this, to warn you about your behavior. To look at your sweet, determined eyes and explained that he’s easily able to hold his own in battle and that you didn’t need to go to such lengths to protect him, but that chance never seemed to come up yet. Perhaps he had avoided it? He had to admit, it was always a bit cute to but in the heat of a battle and hear frantic footsteps followed by a shout, “Just wait on me Kaeya, I’ll help you!”
Yet, those thoughts were the last thing on his mind right now, his frame leaned against the bar of Angel's Share, a wonderfully crafted ale in front of him. While he was supposed to be reporting for duty right now, he knew that nobody would complain if he was an hour or so late. He lifted the glass, taking a few sips and was about the order another before the door to the tavern was slammed open, the wooden hinges creaking a bit.
“Sir!” An obviously distressed knight was out of breath as he approached the Cavalry Captain, “we’ve been looking for you for ages!” he spoke in a frantic tone, causing Kaeya to immediately put his drink down and place more than enough Mora on the bar to cover his tab.
“Am I that important suddenly?” he tried to muse over their worries, but the lower-ranked knight was quick to continue. “We were worried because we got a ransom letter demanding mora for your return from captivity.” Well, obviously Kaeya wasn't in captivity.
Kaeya couldn’t help but shrug a little, seeming to not understand why this was such a big deal until he seemed to connect the dots, “Archons, [Y/N] went didn’t she?”
All it took was a breathless nod from the knight for Kaeya to spring into action.
Whenever you heard the news you couldn’t believe it, Kaeya had always talked about how strong he was! But somehow he had been captured and taken as leverage by the Fatui? Your ears didn’t want to believe what they were being told, but the letter in front of you and your pounding heart didn’t want to leave anything up to fate.
That's why, whenever Jean desperately tried to smooth over your worries and compel you to stay within headquarters, you were quick to turn around and leave. It's not that you didn't respect her, you really did, but you cared for Kaeya more and if you were the only one going to save him then, so be it.
The fight had been going on for far too long now, you were tired beyond belief, you had originally tried talking to them like a diplomat but whenever you didn't offer any mora words fell upon deaf ears. Really, you did enjoy a good fight, but you weren't sure if this would be considered one.
A mirror maiden was enjoying trapping you within her ice while an electrohammer vanguard and a pyroslinger bracer seemed to take turns inflicting you with their designated elements. To be honest, it hurt like living hell, and with each step you took, it felt like your body was burning.
They refused to tell you where Kaeya was, possibly if your judgment was better you would've abandoned the personal rescue mission. Yet, in the back of your mind, you thought about Kaeya getting the same treatment as you, and that thought alone was enough to allow you to block their relentless attacks.
"Where is he!? Just tell me please!" You parried successfully as you asked, but there was a falter in your steps for a moment, stumbling back against the dirt some of it kicking up into your eyes. The larger vanguard took this opportunity, landing a critical hit on you and the hammer sending pulses of electricity through your veins as your body fell to the ground.
Your eyelids were fluttering violently and it felt like you didn't have much control of your body, you didn't know why you felt warm and wet but you did as your body lay on the dirt. You were desperate to push yourself up but you couldn't muster the strength.
The scuffling of feet and desperate yelling were causing your ears to ring, forcing your eyes to open you looked through the haze at Kaeya himself defeating them rather quickly, though it seems he sustained injuries as well.
You thought you had only closed your eyes for a moment, but when you opened them again, his face was in front of yours, an icy orb gazing worriedly at you. "Kaeya," your voice was barely above a whisper, and whenever you spoke it hurt something inside your chest.
"I'm..I'm so glad you're safe," this single sentence caused tears to flow from Kaeya as he overlooked your body, he was desperately trying to mend your wounds but he was only trained on fighting, not healing. "Stop talking! Barbara, Jean, and some other knights should be here soon, they can help you better than me!"
His words were desperate as he clung to your hand, sneakily having a finger kept on your wrist to feel your fleeting pulse. He was scared, the guilt coursing through his veins leaving him almost numb in his brain as he stared at the near corpse of you on the ground. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry [Y/N]."
You gave him a weak smile, shaking your head though the pain seemed unbearable as you did, "You have nothing to be sorry for, love," you gave a small sigh as your eyes seemed to focus on the background before closing. Kaeya's heart racing, he shook your shoulders, desperately calling your name over and over.
When Barbara and Jean arrived Kaeya was inconsolable, his words spitting at them like venom.
"What do you mean you can't do anything? Jean, help her!"
Jean sighed softly, placing a hand on Kaeya's shoulder, "Kaeya, she's already dead."
✦Itto
It was no lie that there were tensions between people and oni, stereotypes were strong and some people just refused to let go of prejudice. Whenever you first were open about your relationship, people had openly asked you why and if he had coerced you in some way which you had taken great offense to.
You tried desperately to convince them that Itto was actually a great man who treated you better than most humans had, but there was still a belief that in some way you had been forced into this relationship.
Itto honestly didn't seem to care much, he simply laughed off most things, but if anyone were to ever say anything to insult you it was like they had committed the worst crime in the universe.
Somehow, you hadn't noticed the growingly dark intentions behind some of the human's words, saying that they didn't want 'half-breeds' within their world in the coming future thanks to you.
This is what had led to your current situation, taken from your home in the middle of the night, being tied up, and brought to a hidden chasm in the depts of Inazuma.
Your neighbors had watched as you were dragged from your home, kicking and screaming. They couldn't help but feel sympathetic to your struggles, their love had too be questioned, albeit not to this extent. This is why, whenever they made their way to Itto, they were quick to explain the situation to the man who loved you.
"They what?!" his voice was booming, his hair was standing on ends with stress as he looked at the two humans in front of him, confused as to why they didn't help you but he didn't bother to ask. "Where is she?"
Your struggles were harsh and as you were dragged down, you bit at the hand of your captors, causing them to yelp before retailing with a harsh slap against your previously untainted cheek.
"We wouldn't have to do this if you didn't get involved with him," they chided as you were momentarily freed from the ropes that had kept you imprisoned. "Stop struggling," a burly man grasped your arm as he forced you towards a wooden totem in the corner of the room.
"Then don't do this!" your confusion about the situation only caused your struggles to be more frantic as you desperately tried to free yourself from his grasp.
As you were tied to the pole, your mind was running wild with scenarios, your anxiety growing with each passing second. That's why, whenever your captors approached you with cans of fire starter and a match you were horrified, "No, no, do not do this please," you begged them as they poured the stinking liquid over you and the pole.
They didn't say anything, simply believing that they were doing the right thing as they lit the match and then evacuated immediately, knowing that if the fire didn't kill you then the smoke certainly would.
Screams of agony were echoing from the cave entrance as your captors disappeared into the night. Your clothes were getting charred along with the heat emitting towards your skin at a rapid pace. Once the fire started to creep along your skin, you couldn't help but continuously cry out, your tears doing nothing to ease the flames as they ate away at your skin.
Itto was sprinting into the cave, your screaming only quickening his pace. The smoke was thick and he could smell burning flesh, whenever he reached the opening he saw the wall of fire that surrounded you. Self-preservation wasn't a word in his dictionary as he made his way to you, sprinting and jumping through the flames before grabbing your now slumped-over frame.
"[Y/N]?" He slapped lightly at your face, realizing that you had probably passed out from the pain, he was quick to pick you up, "C'mon, I've gotta get you outta here," he knew you couldn't hear him, but he was desperate to provide any comfort to you. Coughing from the thick smoke and sprinting out of the cave, not caring about the burns that now were all over his exposed skin.
He was quick to rush you back into town into your parent's home where they had been waiting, you were still out cold and your pulse was fleeting as he examined where your clothes had melted into your skin. He was scared to touch you, to hurt you in any way, but for now, you were alive and in front of him.
Your parents were frantic with trying to contact the right people and by some stroke of luck, Kokomi was within the area and could provide her services.
Throughout the night, both she and Itto provided intensive care to you, multiple times you were on the brink of death and they had to desperately pull you back off the ledge. Once stabilized, you would regain consciousness and whimper in pain, trying desperately to speak but from inhaling the spoke it burnt to talk, simply only being able to say Itto's name.
He would shush you softly, pushing back the hair from your face and offering water that Kokomi had nearly sprinted, tripping over herself to get.
"I'm here hun, I made it in time."

→Imagine: You don't have a vision but insist on helping them Pt. 2!
✦Some Imagines where reader is a normal civilian, but tags along with their favorite genshin character promising that they can be helpful in their own way! ✦But this is the part two! Link to part 1 is here ✦Characters: Xiao, Thoma, and of course Y/N! ✦I hope you guys enjoyed the previous one, I enjoyed writing it Lemme know if you want more of this or if you want something similar ♡
✦Xiao
It seems to have been one of those nights, the darkness outside of Wangshu Inn was all consuming as you looked over over the ledge of the balcony, the wind harshly blowing past you you within an instant. Humming to yourself, you recalled that Xiao was out and probably wouldn't be home for a moment.
Sometimes he would get like this, he liked to act like no one could understand him. Maybe that was true. But, you would like to have the opportunity to try at least. As you wrapped yourself in one of your jackets, you sat on the wooden balcony, staring at the sky wondering if this is the same sky that Xiao has stared at for all the years that he had been alive. Was it still beautiful to him?
You supposed that eventually, everything would lose its touch, in a way you could rationalize him mindset, but that didn't make it any less depressing within your mind. You would never be a god, nor would you never be a vision bearer, you wouldn't ever even be a soldier so you'll never know much about loss or sacrifices.
You'll never know exactly why Xiao's face at night contorts in a pain so unfamiliar to you or why he avoids sleep with such conviction.
But, you do know Xiao.
You know how Xiao looks whenever he eats almond tofu, how for a brief moment he forgets any worries he's ever had and happiness is finally his. How a small blush appears on his cheeks whenever you point out that he smiles with each bite, but he still indulges himself until the plate is empty.
You've seen the relief that washes over him whenever he is surrounded by those he cares for, or the happiness when Zhongli compliments him. You’d never tease him about this though, you know how important they are to him, and it pains you knowing that Xiao has a hard time expressing that to them.
You knew how he looked at you on occasion, it was rare, but sometimes you were graced with a gaze of adoration from a man who you knew was willing to die for you. More than likely wanted to die for you. This was the opposite of what you wanted of course, but it was always on your mind.
Standing, you moved away from the balcony edge before calling out to Xiao, "Xiao, can you come home now?" It wasn't long before the wind was rustling the leaves in trees and Xiao was next to you, his neutral expression not giving much away. "Thanks for coming," you started before he interjected you.
"Don't I always?" he was a bit snarky, but it wasn't that different than normal and you had grown to love his thorny personality.
"Yes, besides, I wanted to thank you but more importantly I wanted to talk..," as you continued to speak his expression dropped a little and it looked like he began to regret having his cold exterior these past few weeks, thinking that you were planning on breaking things off with him. He didn't plan on begging you to stay with him, but truth be told, he was beginning to break down on the inside.
"[Y/N], just, please get on with it. I want to understand," his voice was incredibly meek for someone who normally was all bark, but you didn't complain as you grabbed his hand, looking up at him to make sure it was okay before continuing. "I want to be there for you like you are for me!"
You rubbed small circles on his hands as you talked, "I'm not any type of archon, hell, I don't even know how hold a bow! But I know how to make almond tofu! And I'm the best listener and I want to understand your strug-" You cut yourself off before you made him sound a bit too weak,
"I just want to understand you better okay? You can't leave anymore! I may not have some fancy vision but I definitely have ears! Talk to me! You can't protect me until I'm able to protect your feelings!"
Your ramble was a bit long winded and you were a bit out of breath by the time you finished, but you said what you had wanted, though you had left some of the sappiness out but you yourself thought it was pretty good.
Xiao on the other hand, he thought it was so darn cute and rather amusing. At first, he tried to keep his composure with just staring at you as you kept babbling on about feelings and talking. Yet, as you continued, it got harder and harder until he just chuckled, cheeks flushed red and a hand covering his mouth desperately trying to hide himself. He was tempted to leave due to embarrassment, but out of respect for you and your near confession he stayed.
"So you want to protect my feelings?" he asked between fits of near giggles.
"Well, yeah? What's so wrong with that you dumb adeptus?!"
✦Thoma
Your favorite ginger had been missing recently and you couldn't help but feeling some resentment towards a certain pair of siblings that definitely didn't realize how hard his job was. While the pair were great in their own ways, it could be frustrating to see how worked to the bone Thoma was at times due to the nature of his work and you couldn't help but to blame them no matter how much you were reassured.
You hadn't seen Thoma at his home within days, and whenever you stopped by it was apparent he hadn’t had much of any free time. Using the key that you had been lent back when you had first became close, you welcomed yourself inside and let out a small gasp at the state of it.
It was so unlike Thoma for anything associated with him to be untidy, so for his floors to not be swept and not be mopped along with clothes strewn about and dirty dishes in the sink, you knew that your sweet boy had been overworked and he simply didn't have the time to clean his own home.
He would've been mortified to know that anyone saw his home in this state, but you quickly got to work, starting with the kitchen since that gave you access to most of his cleaning supplies. Putting on a pair of his cleaning gloves (which were definitely pink) to protect yourself from harsh chemicals, you set to work scrubbing dishes and wiping windows, counters, tiles, and mopping.
You were surprised at how hard this work was, but knew that Thoma was probably doing much harder tasks keeping up with the trouble making siblings and quite honestly, your blood boiled knowing that likely they hadn't given him a day off in a week! You made a mental note to go up there soon to demand they give him a day off, but that would have to wait until work is done.
Looking around at your handywork, you were swift to pick up Thoma's clothes and tried to make sure you sorted and folded them in a way that was in align with how he would like. "Thoma's so picky with this stuff," you chided as you arranged them into his dresser. Though it was a hassle, it was almost cute how much of a housewife he was. You could just imagine him sitting at home with a child, the thought making a soft blush rise on your cheeks.
It was a long day of playing maid for the ginger, you had finally sat down on the couch in the living room, your eyelids feeling heavy but your heart content and promising yourself to do this more often. You had never really gotten around to going to the Kamisato Clan's building, but you were desperately trying to remember to do that as you heard a set of keys enter the door knob.
A set of tired footsteps entered the home, making his way into the living room before doing a double take at the state of the house and who was sitting on his couch practically asleep.
"[Y/N]?! What are you doing here and why did you clean my house?!" His voice was remarkably shrill, enough to cause you to stir in your sleep and send him an unusually dirty look before realizing the situation.
"I'm sorry Thoma, I got so upset about you working so much that I wanted to help you out. I can't really help much with your job at the Commissioner's Office but I can clean here! Easily! This is how I can support you! I mean I have my own job, but my bosses aren't meanies like yours!”
Thoma was smiling at this point at your genuine want to help him out and he couldn't help but pull his sweet girlfriend in for a soft kiss, his lips meeting yours for the first time in about a week now. His work schedule had been as crazy as you had claimed.
"Well, I appreciated your neverending support love. But the siblings are not 'meanies' as you call them." he retorted with a soft laugh, pecking at your nose.
You were quick to gasp, frowning up at him, "I'm going to talk to them tomorrow! I'll demand they give you time off!"
"Baby that's not necessary!"
To you, it was.

→Imagine: You don't have a vision but insist on helping them
✦Some Imagines where reader is a normal civilian, but tags along with their favorite genshin character promising that they can be helpful in their own way! ✦Characters: Aether, Kaeya, Childe, and of course Y/N! ✦Lemme know if you want this with other characters and if so which ones? :^) ✦ Pt 2 will be linked here
✦Aether
The relatively calm male couldn't help but feel a bit antsy as he watched you, sure you were just outside of Mondstadt's walls, but it wasn't uncommon for hillichurls to build camps across these vast hills. With a gleeful smile, you turned towards the blond and made your way back to him.
"God, it's great outside of the city. We should go on an adventure together Aether! How about to Watatsumi Island to get a Sango Pearl?" Your voice was shrill with excitement, the thought of going on a trip with your favorite face was enough to have you going octaves above your normal pitch.
Aether on the other hand was noticeably hesitant and his face struggled to hide it, he could already see you being chased by a group of Specters. While the sight would be amusing, he knew that you didn't have the ability to fight off something like that so easily. Before he responded with an excuse you shot him a dirty look, arms crossing over your chest in annoyance.
"I won't slow you down! It'll be fun!"
With a sigh, Aether hesitantly agreed, "Alright, [Y/N], fine. Let's hope it'll be fun."
And within a few weeks, the two of you were stepping off a boat onto the shores of Watatsumi Island. As Aether started to lead the way, silently offering you a hand which you gladly took, he kept a watchful eye out for any number of enemies that could be around.
Reaching into your back pocket, you pulled out a map of Watatsumi Island that you had paid more mora for than you would like to admit. Examining the page, your face couldn't help but to turn into a bit of confusion, "Aether, I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but aren't we going the wrong way?"
This question caused the traveler to stop in their tracks and turn to face you, realizing that you had a map and a sheepish expression showing up on their features for a moment. "Well, I'm used to using the teleport waypoints, so honestly I'm not that great at directions..," he trailed off for a moment as he tried to explain himself. "Plus, Paimon normally helps lead me the right way but she said she would let just us have this adventure."
You couldn't help but crack a small smile as you led him towards the correct path, after an excruciatingly long walk and getting splashed by some of the running water, you finally found what you came for. You knelt beside the beautiful white pearls, collecting one and then holding out one for the blond, a smile that caused his heart to race forming on your features.
"I guess I'm pretty useful to have around huh Mr.Traveler?"
With no hesitation, he replied while taking the pearl and praying that you didn't notice the blush on his cheeks, "You should join me more often."
Glancing back up at the male you tilted your head, almost in that confused puppy way before letting out a laugh and agreeing, "I'll follow you anywhere Aether."
✦Kaeya
It had been three months. Three long, annoying months that you had been relentlessly badgering Kaeya about letting you join him on a commission.
"Archons, Kaeya! Please, I promise I'm not useless, let me join you, I promise I won't let you down!" You had said this spiel about a thousand times and honestly, Kaeya had grown tired of hearing it. He wanted his sweet Y/N back, the one who didn't want to put her life in danger just to prove a point.
"Love, I've told you already it's not happening, until you can take me down yourself alone in battle, you're not coming," his words themselves weren't harsh, but you could tell by the temperature drop in the room that Kaeya didn't want to hear anymore of this conversation and that you weren't going to have you way. Kaeya never expected you to take him so literally.
For a split second, you thought about grabbing a butterknife and challenging him here, inside your beloved home, but you knew that you needed much more training before you could take the calvary caption with such a simple weapon. With a huff of frustration, you stood, "Fine!"
"Fine!" Kaeya quickly retorted back as you made your way out of the home, not caring that he still could spend about an hour with you before heading into headquarters for whatever work was deemed necessary for today. At a quick pace, you made your way through the city of freedom, grumbling about how your partner looked dumb with his eyepatch and other various complaints to blow off steam until you found who you were looking for.
"Amber," You called as you approached the outrider who seemed to be enjoying a meal at Good Hunter, "Your meals are on me for the whole month if you can do me a favor."
Truly this was all the convincing that it took.
It had been around three months, and since that day you hadn't asking Kaeya again about going on a commission with him, which had him thinking that he didn't have anymore worries but whenever you started leaving the house earlier and coming home later, he couldn't help but to fear that he had pissed you off enough to see another man!
One morning, as you went to climb out of bed, he grabbed your wrist softly, no malice intention just genuine concern and love. "My love, have I angered you? You seem to be avoiding me and I haven't been able to hold you in ages. Have you decided to replace me already?"
It was clear that he was trying to pass these words off as a joke, but his eyes showed that he was truly worried and the fact that he didn't let you go only furthered your belief. Sighing as you pulled your arm from your grasp, you ruffled his hair and pressed a cheek to his forehead before turning around and pulling clothes over your nude frame. "It isn't and would never be like that," pausing for a moment as you tied your hair back from within your face, "We are simply both busy, don't worry."
With that simple answer you stood and finished getting ready before leaving, causing Kaeya to stay sprawled on the bed wondering what his partner was busy with and why it kept them from him for so long.
As per every morning this past three months, you and Amber stood in Wolvendom, you held a bow in your hands that had caused calluses along your previously untainted fingertips. Originally, Amber had to stand behind you and support you with each draw of the string, but now she said that she was proud to call you her student. With each target that you hit, the pride in your chest swelled before you turned towards the knight, revealing your plan to your friend.
"Alright, I think I'm ready," you almost squealed, happily shaking a spare arrow in your hand as Amber show you an almost confused look. "Huh? I thought you said this was for self defense?"
Both of you began to pack of your training equipment, trying to make sure that you didn't leave any mess within the forest, "Well, yeah, that, and I wanna defeat Kaeya in a duel," your answer was as a matter of fact. A loud "Huh?" caused you to yelp, dropping what you had previously picked up, "You're trying to fight him? [Y/N] you're going to get yourself killed! I mean, he wouldn't kill you, but you won't win!"
Hearing your friend, your supporter say this caused you to do a double take, "Uh, yes I will. I'm going to challenge him whenever we get back. You said I did good!" Amber tried to give you a thumbs up, but it was clear by the awkward smile on her face that your 'friend' had little faith in you.
Before long, Amber realized there was no talking you out of this, so reluctantly she led you back to Mondstadt and you made your way towards the Knights of Favonius headquarters, bow in hand and determination in your eyes. As you entered the building, you felt a bit out of place, but made your way towards where you knew Kaeya's office was and took a breath to calm your nerves before knocking on the door with a white knuckled fist.
"Come In," the voice was muffled, but you recognized it immediatelt as your beloved and opened the door, and coughed to make him look up at you. His eyes widened for a moment, "Wha-" "Kaeya Alberich," you started with full resolve staring at him in the eyes, " I challenge you to a duel."
Standing, Kaeye tied back his blue hair, "I'm not gunna go easy on you," he mused as he walked towards you, "I don't want you to," You snapped back quickly only furthering his amusement at your resolve. You both made your way outside of the headquarters towards the sparring arena, where amber had already prepared a seat for herself and await eagerly.
"She's the one who trained you?" Kaeya practically hummed as he cracked his knuckles, "That explains a lot about these past months."
"It's your fault! You acted like I was useless to you and I wouldn't be able to help you on adventures, so I'll prove to you that I can," your face couldn't help but raise a bit in hidden frustration, you were fumbling with the bow and making sure that you had more than a needed supply of arrows. Now that it was finally time to prove yourself, you felt more nervous than you had ever imagined.
As the silence grew, you each took a few steps away from each other, seeming to not breath for a few moments until Kaeya gave you a steady nod, signaling that he was letting you attack first.
Quickly taking aim, you shot a few arrows at the one you loved, he was exactly avoiding them, not bothering to make advancements towards you nor to even grant you the satisfaction of breaking a sweat. He knew this bothered you, you could tell by the smirk on his lips, you could also tell that he was enjoying bothering you. You wanted to aim for his head, but if it actually hit the target you would regret that.
"Babe," he teased as he side stepped an arrow before quickly dashing towards you, his sword slashing towards where you had been standing a few seconds ago. "This is almost boring," he lamented before seemingly deciding to put an end to this duel. He started to attack continuously, his sword getting too close to you for comfort on multiple occasions.
Dodging and darting from each swipe was becoming tiring, but you just needed to tire him out a bit longer. As the male shot a blast of ice towards you, your cool skin wanted to refuse to move for a moment, but you were quick to keep your composure and narrowly avoid a swipe from his sword. "Too slow Alberich," you teased, purposefully pushing his buttons.
This spurred on quick burst of attacks and more icy burst get it? thrown your way, he had obviously miscalculated your efforts and was paying for that. Beads of sweat were dripping from his forehead, he took a moment with a staggered stance, taking your chance, you quickly shot an arrow towards the male, hitting your target.
"You missed, dummy," he said affectionately, relishing in the second to tease you, but what he didn't realize was that you had shot into his scarf, pinning it and a part of his clothes into the ground. "I didn't, dummy," you retorted as you sprinted towards the man with lightning speed, dropping, and kicking his feet from beneath him, leading him to fall, earning a groan from the male as his head hit the ground and was unable to pull himself up due to the arrow securing his clothes into the ground.
With precision, you took aim and shot into the baggy part of his clothes to pin him into the ground without actually piercing his skin. Your only spectator, Amber cheered loudly, "I trained her!" laughing erupting from her lips and you couldn't help but to smile down at the male who you had essentially pinned to the ground.
"Looks like I won," You gloated as you pulled the arrows from the ground, freeing your lover, "You owe me my prize."
Kaeya stood, brushing himself off quickly, secretly a bit upset at losing and at the new holes in his uniform but fair was fair. "Well, [Y/N], I can't reward you here, doll," his sultry voice was deep, running with suggestive undertones and you shot him a look and shook your head.
"No! Take me on a quest! An adventure! A commission!" You demanded, your glare strong enough to scare even the strongest gods that roamed Teyvat. It took swallowing his pride, but Kaeya nodded.
"You're right love, will you join me on my patrols tomorrow?' He asked in the sweetest voice he could muster after being defeated, his hands reaching for your waist and facing you head on.
You smirked, looking up at this handsome man and decided to return some of your boyfriend's medicine, "Yeah, it seems like you could really use my help. I know you're not that strong."
Before he could complain, you shut him up with a kiss, your lips meeting his for what seemed like the first time in ages. Though they were a little dry from his heavy breathing, you relished in this small moment before parting, but Kaeya was quick to put his hands on your cheeks and pulled you in for yet another.
✦Childe
Holding a broom in your hands, you swept the ground meticulously making sure that your home was spotless. While your home wasn't that much, you felt pride in the story that was being written for you and your love, while your marriage was still very young it was exciting to see what life had in store for the both of you. As you reflected on your life with a happy heart, a familiar smell drifted into the air and a small curse left your lips as your set the broom down before rushing into the kitchen.
Haphazardly, you pulled the sweet madame out of the oven and prayed that you hadn't burnt her into a crisp in your effort of multitasking. It seems luck was on your side because you could hardly tell it was in there for any longer than it should've been, so you knew that Childe would be none the wiser. As you checked the clock on the wall you sighed, anxiously awaiting for your husband to return home.
As much as you loved him, you sure didn't love his job. Certainly, you were beyond grateful for your husband providing for you, but you just wish that he could've went a different path in life. While you promised to love him no matter what, you simply wish you could have given him an easier life and a safer job. It didn't help your worries knowing that you would be useless if he needed help, sure there were many that he could depend on him, but you wanted him to depend on you too.
In time to catch you from these darker thoughts, your husband entered the home, a smile on his face as soon as he saw you with a fresh meal on the table.
"My wife," he hums, quickly making his way to you and wrapping his arms around you and giving you a warm hug, your spirits instantly lifted"I'm homeee!" Forgetting whatever thoughts had plagued your mind before, you tilted your head up, closing your eyes, a silent request that Childe happily obliged. Pressing a soft kiss onto your lips, he took a moment to look over your soft features and rub a thumb on your cheek.
"Welcome home handsome," you mumbled softly before pulling away and grabbing two plates and silverware for you both and making a plate for you both to eat. "Was work okay for you today?"
Childe had sat at the table by the time you had asked the question, but it seemed you struck a nerve by asking and he hesitated a moment, "Ah, that reminds me baby, tomorrow I have important work to do so it might take longer than normal for me to come home. Please don't worry about making me dinner or staying up for me."
His words left a frown falling onto your features, something felt weird about what he was saying, but you just couldn't explain what was weird about it. "Ah, I see," your response was short, which immediately caused Childe to stop eating and look at you with a sad smile, "Don't miss me too much, I'll be back to love on you soon."
Once again, his words just left like he was trying to say something with a hidden meaning, but you didn't want to question him too much. "As long as you'll be okay and back to me," you responded softly reaching out for his hand and giving it a soft squeeze.
The rest of the night was uneventful, Childe helping you clean up after dinner and him trying to talk you into getting a puppy. Before long, your husband was yawning beside you on the couch, causing you to giggle a bit and lead him to bed, the two of you spending a loving night together with Childe demanding that you cuddle even though he was much too warm to be cuddling so close underneath the covers.
Your sleep was rudely awakened, just as the sun began to peak into the room, your eyes opened automatically and you felt the need to expel the contents of your stomach. Childe followed you, albeit a few minutes behind and groggily rubbing your back, "There, there.." he mumbled, his bed head looking worse than normal this morning, not that you could say much since you were throwing up and that definitely wasn't the normal.
"Was your chicken that bad love?" He teased after you had refreshed yourself and returned to the bedroom where he had went just a few moments before. You simply shook your head no as an answer, causing Childe to frown in concern, his arms wrapping around you from behind him and resting his chin on top of your head. "It's gunna be okay, love," he assured you, trying to make you feel better about being sick and about him leaving.
You couldn't help but wonder if your sickness was caused by anxiety over Childe leaving or if you simply had just ate something weird yesterday but didn't notice it. Either way, you happily pressed yourself into him for as long as you could, which wasn't that long due to him slowly peeling himself from you then making his way towards the closet and changing into his uniform.
Once you were both dressed, you sent him off at the door with a kiss and a small packed sack lunch. The day seemed to pass so slow, your stomach mildly aching the whole time. It was truly frustrating, how was it fair that you were left here to fear for your husband? It was obvious that something was off last night, but you knew better than to ask him, knowing that he wouldn't tell you in fear of worrying you or the fact that you would try to tag along (which you had definitely done in the past).
It was well into the night, your eyes were strained as you sipped some tea desperately awaiting on your husband to come home whenever you had a loud knock on your door. This was the type of knock to shake the walls of the house, you were quick to scramble of the couch and dust yourself off as you went to the door, opening it without a second thought as your eyes widened a bit whenever you looked upon who was in front of you.
"Uh, Good afternoon..?" you greeted with a bit of hesitation, in front of you was Sayu, the small ninja who was known for her amazing skill of sleeping but also being ridiculously sneaky.
"No time to talk! Gotta help Childe!" she was quick to grab your hand, desperately pulling you out of the house, your bare feet hitting the cold Liyue cobblestone with each step she forced you to take. While you followed her at a breakneck pace, you couldn't stop the questions. "Sayu, what's happening? What's wrong with Childe?! Is he hurt?" She didn't break the pace she had as she answered you, taking you from the city and into the dark forest and mountains of the nation.
"Trouble! Wanted to leave for your safety and to start a family! La Signora is punishing him for abandonment of his title!" Guilt wrecked your body immediately, almost to the point of you immediately becoming nauseous. He didn't have to do that for you, he knew the risks all to well. Taking a few rapid breaths to try to get coherent thoughts to your brain and refill your lungs you responded after a few moments of silent guilt.
"Where is he? Why were you even there? Don't tell me you're joining the Fatui." As you spoke, she took a sharp turn, almost causing you to lose your balance but you were doing amazing to even being able to keep place with the anemo vision holder.
"No, spying for Shuumatsuban. I can't help you because they'll know I was spying, so figure out what to do."
After what felt like too long, you and Sayu approach a dark looking cave and she pointed there before giving a small yawn, "There, down there they are," she directed you without any further help and after you thanked her for the help she did give and told her that she could leave since you weren't sure of the danger that lurked.
Taking you up on the offer, Sayu took off without much to say other than wishing you luck. As you glanced into the cave, your anxiety overcame you once again and you tied your hair back before jumping into the dark chasm.
As you felt along the dark, damp walls you could already hear the noises of struggling and the sound of skin being hit.
"Tsk, Childe, I know you know better than to do what you're doing now," said a degrading voice before there was another noise and then Childe's distinct cough. "There's no having a family in this business. You can't have your title back, but if you end things and dispose of the problem then maybe we'll accept you again into our ranks and you can start over."
You waited for a moment, your breath caught in your throat as you listened for his reply, Childe wasn't stupid and he knew better than to take such a dumb deal. While this harbinger did enjoy bloodshed he would never bring it upon his wife, "And I think you know better than to think I would choose the Fatui over my wife." His voice was strained and cracking with almost each word, but you could feel the resolve within it. His bindings were too tight and his delusion had been shattered and removed from his possession, leaving him with only his hydro vision and bound to be tortured and likely killed.
Childe hisses as his skin immediately feels the burn of frostbite on his exposed skin, but Signora pressed her hand harder into his skin causing him to let out a pained groan. Without much of a plan, you grabbed a rock and immediately ran from where you had been hiding, "Stop it! Get your hands off of him!" Your hand still grasped the rock, which in all honesty wasn't that big but was your only weapon at your disposal. You had never been trained with any weaponry but were desperate to defend the one who would've gladly done the same for you.
Childe immediately shot his head up, thinking that he must have died and passed on to be hearing your voice here of all places, but in front of him there you were. Hair tied back, bags underneath your eyes from stress or sleep deprivation, pajamas on, and no shoes. He was horrified, he knew that he would likely die, but his death was okay to him, but knowing you would likely die as well caused him to cry out. "Leave! [Y/N], do not come any closer! Go back home now!" he struggled against his restraints violently, his wrists, arms, and legs now bleeding from the severe rope burn that he was causing himself.
Signora let out a dark giggle, turning to face you, her frame easily towering over you and her glare cold enough to chill your bone. "How cute," she sneered, "You're trying to protect him? With a rock?" she covered her mouth as she looked you up and down, knowing that you were easily defeated. "Pretty girl, I'll kill your husband first then you, okay?" she assured you with a faux soothing tone before stepping towards Childe, for once his expression showing something close to near madness as he spat at her.
"Don't lay a fucking finger on [Y/N]! Get the fuck out of here now [Y/N]!" The blood from his rope burns were steadily dripping onto the caves ground, but it wasn't anywhere near getting him out of his restraints. Childe's words were ringing in your ears, he was still screaming at you as Signora lifted her spell book to cast an enchantment upon your beloved.
Taking aim, you threw the rock at her which literally did fuck all. It simply hit her with a 'thunk' and fell to the ground and she scoffed before starting to recite a spell. Desperation filling your bones, you run to her and grab her arm, trying to pull her away from him.
"Leave him alone!” You near growl through gritted teeth, trying to take the book from within her hands, causing her to send a sharp pulse of icy blast on you sending you flying against the cave wall. Childe's shouting something but your ears are ringing, you're not focused on him right now anyways. Your determination is only on making sure that you stop that tall bitch from taking your man.
As a white ice starts to form within her hands and Childe starts to brace for impact, you are in a momentary haze as you realize that you are hearing a voice in your head commending you for your actions and that this should help you. In a momentarily shock, you regain your senses and look down at your hands and.. it's an electro vision.
Quickly realizing that you don't have much time, you immediately stand and call out, "Signora!" she once again doesn't spare you a passing glance but that was okay with you, you weren't sure how this worked anyways. Summoning all the strength in your body, you ran towards the woman, sparks and crackles emitting from your palms as you shoved her with all of your might.
"Don't fucking touch him again!" you couldn't help your rage as you screamed at the woman, sparks emitting from your skin and the vision glowing brightly from your pajama pants pocket. Sending a shock as hard as you could to the woman's head before she recovered, your attack hit its target and she seemed to go out cold immediately.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.." Your words were frantic as you ran to your husband, his wounds deep from the torture that they had inflicted on him before you were able to make it to him. "Childe, baby, we have to get you to a healer right now..," you muttered worriedly overlooking the deep gashes in his skin.
Childe didn't care much about his wounds though, he simply was shooting you a glare. As you unbound him, he immediately caressed your face, looking at the small cut on your cheek from when you had hit the wall and the blood that had came with it.
You wouldn't tell anyone if they asked, but there were tears, he was crying as he examined you from head to toe, making note of the splinters and scratches on your feet from running here barefoot. "How could you do that to me?' he muttered as he sniffled, obviously trying to contain his emotion, not wanting to look at anything else other than you right now. "I couldn't help you, I thought I would die and leave you defenseless against them. Don't ever do this to me again please."
He sounded almost broken, and for a second you forgot the urgency of his wounds and just held him, not caring that his blood seeped onto your skin. You both cried, the fear of losing each other too fresh in your minds for you to easily express your words for one another, so it was easier to just hold one another.
"Childe, what will we do? The Fatui know you wish to leave, you will be hunted for betrayal," you peppered kisses over his skin as this question lingered in the air for a few moments too long. The ginger looked up at you with a soft sigh, grabbing your hand to place a kiss on the skin.
"Well, you do have that nifty little thing now," he mumbled referring to the purple vision in your pocket, "we could be a pretty cool couple on the run you think? I trust you to protect me." For a second you were surprised to hear those words leave his lips, you never once thought that he relied on you like that. "Really?" you asked in almost a whisper.
"Love," he looked at you with red eyes that showed the signs of the tears that had fallen from them just moments ago, "You saved my life, if I couldn't trust you I'd be a blind man."

→In The Middle Of The Night
→A short imagine where the reader is a devoted knight and Childe is devoted to the Fatui. Romance isn't allowed between the two leading them to desperate measures to see one another. →Slightly inspired by the song "Middle Of The Night" by Elley Duhé but I personally prefer the cover by Loveless. →Could be a little angsty but it's mostly fluff! →This def isn't my best buttt I wrote a while back so I’m posting now HAH
Even though you tended to wear a more covering uniform than the other knights, it always felt like the night air was nipping at your skin. Jean had asked you relentlessly why you took these late-night commissions, yet you couldn't help but lie to her face. You had known the blonde since childhood and these neverending lies had started to weigh on your mind. Just yesterday, Kaeya had asked you to join him on his routes and you had to decline, causing further questions.
You had been preparing yourself outside of your destination for a few moments now, rethinking these past few weeks wondering why you were so intoxicated by the thought of him. The fog in your mind was getting so thick that you almost walked away from the commission, knowing that doing so would be better for the both of you in the end.
Shaking these thoughts away, you forced your tired arms to pick up your claymore, the weapon of your choice. This commission wasn't the hardest, simply a few abyss mages and hilichurls that needed to be wiped out. As your sword cut cleanly through flesh, the vision that hung from your side glowed a steady, burning red.
As you ended the final hilichurl's suffering, you sheathed your now bloodied claymore and drew a weak breath as you looked over yourself.
"Damn," this wasn't something that you were happy about, much of your clothes had been sullied by fighting against your now deceased opponents, but your bigger problem was that you had to make the walk to Liyue in wet clothes.
Holding your vision in your hand as you walked, you relished in the heat, your wet shoes squeaking with each step. Were you making the right decisions? You doubted it. You hated lying to your friends and you especially hated what the Fatui stood for. So why were you falling for one of their highest ranked? Was it his smile or the way that if he knew you were in trouble he would kill his own men to save you?
Before you realized, you had arrived at the designated meeting spot, it wasn't much at all. If anything, it was secluded and provided little comfort, simply some conveniently shaped rocks to sit on and a tattered blanket that Childe had brought previously when you complained of the cold. Sitting down on the cold rock, you glanced around, a small frown making its way onto your features.
Sitting here alone was a bit depressing, normally you were the last to arrive so you had never been trapped with your thoughts like this before. As you glanced down at your vision in your hand, you couldn't help but wonder if the gods would approve of what you were doing now. The humiliation built inside you as you stared at the blinking red glow, causing you to hide it in your pocket as you stood up, pacing around the little camp the two of you had built.
Kneeling for a moment, you clumsily folded the blanket and set it in a patch of grass that seemed cleaner than some of the other areas. "This just isn't right..," it came out in a soft mumble but the words were picked up by the man behind you who quickly made his way to you, wrapping his arms behind you and nestling his head into your neck.
"What's not right, comrade? Is my decorating not up to standard?" He spoke in a light, teasing tone but it was obvious that he was out of breath and winded from whatever expedition he had been on.
Spinning around, you took a small step to make a little distance and for once, you felt a little awkward in front of the Harbinger. His clothes were tattered and ripped, blood-smeared and stained in some spots, but you couldn't really judge him on that whenever yours were the same but also wet. "Well, I'm not sure how to explain it other than I just don't feel right. I'm tired of the lying and the late nights," You paused for a moment, not really wanting to become upset, "Childe, I'm just tired."
It took a second for Childe to understand your words, it was clear that he was thinking about what he would say to you. Then, a metaphorical lightbulb appeared over his head and it looked like he almost smiled. "One second," he scampered over towards the sorry excuse for a blanket and awkwardly spread it into the ground.
He stood back for a second and admired his work before gesturing to it and giving you a soft smile, "Lay down!" he urged, causing you to let out an exaggerated sigh.
"I'm not tired like that," you muttered, yet you still made your way towards the blanket and settled onto it and laid down, Childe quickly making his way next to you and laying down beside you.
Both of you raised your eyes to look up at the sky, a soft smile forming on your features as the universe smiled down upon the two of you.
"Y/N?" Childe spoke almost nervously and you broke your gaze from the stars for a moment and looked at him, waiting for his next words, "I know that you're tired. I am too. But you can always call on me, I'll always be here for you. I don't know how to change the world to accommodate us, but I don't want the world to approve of me if I cannot be with you." As he finished speaking, his usual smile was back on his face, but it was clear that he had thought about his words and had meant them.
Instead of the chill that had frosted your skin all night, your cheeks now felt flushed and you swore that this man had somehow hypnotized you in a matter of minutes. Scooting a bit closer to him, you nestled yourself against his chest and spoke.
"Does that mean we can meet normally? No more meeting in the middle of the night?" Your words were soft, but it was obvious that you were over the long walks to Liyue and the abyss mages. Wrapping an arm around you as Childe looked back up to the stars, he chuckled and nodded.
"Of course, girlie."
And just like that, you weren't tired anymore.
