Spiced Black Tea Recipe
I have been drinking and preparing teas since I was very young. My great-aunts surrounded our ancestral home with different plants, fruit trees and flowers that double as sources for folk and traditional remedies, from poultices to teas. Teas, to me, honor health and the plants that provided them, as well as serve as sources of comfort during an illness or times of distress. Below is a recipe taught to me by a lady from India, an old coworker of my father. The steep time is between 10 and 15 minutes, but I used 13 to honor my Deity. This is my daily drink as the spices are to honor the Goddess I devoted myself to. It is warming and comforting as well as strengthening and energizing. Depending on the intentions, I add other food-safe herbs into the base recipe below. Adjust recipe as desired.
1. With fire turned off, in a pot full of boiled water, steep the following for thirteen minutes, covered:
1 teaspoon Black Tea of choice
One star anise
3 cardamom pods
1 cinnamon stick
2 whole cloves
2. Pour through a strainer into cup.
3. Add organic milk or your favorite nut milk.
4. Sweeten with sustainably harvested honey or maple syrup.
5. Stir clockwise to increase strength and stability or counter-clockwise to banish and dispel negativity.
6. Please compost your tea materials after use.

After taking three days to rest and recover from Midsummer celebrations, I am back.
Daily Read 24 June, 2020
Lower Realm: Barbieri Tarot XX Judgment is one of those cards that makes us uneasy, at least it does me. There is that sense of irreversible finality that at times make us feel hopeless. However, this is also a call to action. In this position our shadow is screaming for us to act, to do what we need to do. It is up to us to make the judgment call as to which path we would like to take. Would it be a completely different path that’s forged by our current circumstance? Will it be to unite with our soul and, with it, our destiny? Perhaps, could it be staying where we are to hibernate and heal?
Middle Realm: Rider-Waite IX The Hermit calls for prudence, hidden agendas, solitude and introspection. In this position, it signifies shining a light on our shadow’s message for hidden meanings by going into ourselves deeper. This suggests this may be the time to go to our quiet place away from the noise of our daily lives and meditate and center.
Uppper Realm: Goddess Oracle 23 Iris (Communication) helps us find our voice and express it clearly with integrity. As the goddess of communication, she is guiding us to be clear with ourselve while being aware that those around us are withholding something from us, be it facts or their true intentions. It is imperative that we be clear and demand the same from others as we stand up for ourselves and what we believe in. In some cultures, Iris is the goddess of the rainbow that is a celestial sign of hope as she also reminds us of our conversation with the Universal Power’s and its inherent ability to send signs and omens to let us know what is going on beyond all the smoke and mirrors put up by those around us,
Shuffle Jumpers:
Barbieri Tarot 3 of Pentacles reminds us of the fleeting nature of time and its effects on everything around us. Time wears down even that facade of strength and perfection you try to show everyone. Our legacy that remains through times passing will be our character revealed by our actions.
Goddess Oracle
2 Aphodite (romantic love) reminds us to fall in love again whether it is with someone new or the one we currently have, but more so with our lives. She challenges us to see everything through the lenses of this romantic love and see its essence around us to increase its potency and strengthen it. This card tasks us to be here and now, even in times of pain. She warns us of the negative effects of longing or yearning for that hard-to-get love or getting too hung up on expected outcomes as it clouds our judgment, preventing us from seeing the truth. Learn to let go of expectations and attachments and just let things flow on their own. Pay attention to your thoughts, words and actions, and hold yourself accountable by apologizing and earnestly making things better.
8 Brigid (creative spark) is the Celtic Triple-Goddess of hearth, the forge and inspiration, she challenges us to see that we always carry a spark of creativity within us and tasks us to set fire to it. If you are in a creative slump, imagine how it felt when you the first time you expressed yourself creatively just because you felt like it. Imagine the time you first drew your breath and sang your first notes, the first lines you drew or the shapes your molded out of clay. She reminds us to feel what it is like to play with our art materials. Just let go of our expectations, inhibitions, and most of all our excuses, and get into the flow of creating, without judgment of whether it is good or bad—just create.
Summary Reflection: This reading, like others with shuffle jumpers has many layers and very timely to my current circumstance. It is a call to immediate action to introspect and shut out the noise of the external world, and to communicate love clearly through working on my creative projects in seclusion. My Spirit Guides, Angels and Deity really want to be heard in order to guide us in answering the shadow’s urgent call to action. Today’s middle realm supports both the lower and upper realms with a message of delving deeper within ourselves and, for the moment, isolate from external noises of other people’s issues, and the craziness of the outside world. The shadow aspects reminds us to act and reminds us that time is fleeting meaning it is time to act now. The Divine reminds us to communicate clearly, fall in love again with and set fire to that creative spark that is within us. They all come together in the mundane as instruction to shut out the world and work-on myself, on my creative pursuits in a way that clearly communicates and increases the love in the world.

Daily Read: 20 June 2020 - Dark Moon Reading
Lower Realm: Thoth Tarot 53 Three of Swords (Sorrow) signifies the darkest part of your shadow revealed by the Magician’s sword. This sorrow has overwhelmed you emotionally and mentally leaving you stuck and unable to move forward or unable to choose the path you truly desire. Although the card shows the darkness you have been in, the Sword cuts through this storm with a glimmer of hope.
Middle Realm: Radiant Wise Tarot III The Empress personifies expansion, growth, abundance, fertility, majesty and creativity, as well as love and sensuality. She is also the personification of Demeter-Greek Grain Mother.
Uppper Realm: Sacred Rebels Oracle 36 Listening for Truth tasks us to see the unseen truth behind everything around us, those close to us and those that influence our lives such as the media. This signifies that you have been living in a situation with many hidden secrets and lies and it is time to come clean. At times the truth is more painful that a secret or a lie, but it causes us to live in shameful toxicity instead of being free and healed. Part of healing is to let go of the pains of the past and old wounds and focus instead on unconditional self-love and acceptance. Love yourself enough to honor the truth and live your authenticity as the truth seeker that you are. Live your truth no matter what while remaining compassionate and learn to be gentle with the truth instead of using it as a weapon to be wielded against others or yourself.
Summary Reflection: This reading left me open by my shadow and then raw with the truth in order to be soothed and reassured by the powerful creative female figure. The sword of truth cuts through the sorrow of the dark past breaking crystalline bad habits of self-imposed isolation and stagnation. While the Divine Wisdom sternly but gently reminds us to live our truth, she reassures us of growth and abundance results from the creative work we have been doing. Thus, with her reassurance is also encouragement to continue while remaining compassionate and honest with ourselves and maintaining our integrity as we treat others with compassion. She gently reminds us to free ourselves from the wounds that caused us to be sorrowful in order to heal. As we heal, we still need to continue to live our truth but learn to be gentle with it instead of hurting others by it. Being someone who doesn’t like to sugar-coat things will make this a challenge to undertake. We are tasked to be gentler or tender with the truth but at the same time to always seek it out above all and not be ashamed of it. Our Angels, Spirit Guides and Deity encourages us to continue on the path of growth and abundance, living our truth and our authentic self without shame.

Daily Read 18 June, 2020

Lower Realm: Barbieri Tarot Knight of Pentacles is a young man, that stirs the earth with methodical tenacity, getting his job done quickly then leaving just as quickly when he completed his duty, regardless of whatever conflict he may bring and leave in his wake. In this position, the shadow aspect of impatience for others to do what needs to be done and feeling we have to do it ourselves to get it done correctly, rears its head. This cautions against obsession.
Middle Realm: Rider-Waite Knight of Swords personifies a warrior on the warpath scattering his enemies to the four winds with skill, courage, capacity, and even wrath. This warns against impulsiveness as we deal with people around us.
Upper Realm: Goddess Oracle 35 Maya (Illusion) shows the illusion all around us especially the one we put on ourselves. As any child regardless of age, we seek approval of those outside of ourselves, to feel our self-worth. Hence, when we feel low self-esteem, we blame others. Maya breaks that by showing us the illusion we place on ourselves and inauthenticity. By doing so, she empowers us with the truth of our emotions, thoughts, and deeds to shows us our connection to the Divine Unseen that is at work to help us. She calls out our courage to honestly evaluate our life to recognize things as they are and preparedness to sever ties with the people, places and things in your life that no longer align with who you are growing to be. This will free you to stride the path towards who you are meant to be.
Shuffle Jumper: Barbieri Tarot 10 of Wands reminds us of our duty to ourselves to define boundaries as do what is expected and required of us in the mundane world. This warns against butting into others business as it does that person disservice and weakens their resolve. We are heroes in our own paths and, as tempting as it is, whether driven by compassion or simply being busybodies, it is unhealthy to take on others’ burdens.
Summary Reflection: The Universe through the shuffle jumper basically tells us to butt out of other people’s lives and to define our personal boundaries. This is merely supported by the rest of the cards and serves as a reminder to take stock of my words, thoughts, emotions, behavior and habits and the truth behind what drives them. Having an Advocate personality trait, I find myself driven to not just go, but run impulsively by the seat of my pants on a warpath at every instance that someone or something I care about is put in harms way or harmed. This is where the shadow can be a good thing if it is reigned and not left to run amok. This reading brought me to reflect on the authenticity of my drive to fight for the maligned, examining whether it comes from the core of who I am or if I do it to please others. In the same breath, my Spirit Guides, Angels and Deity shows their hand to guide in strengthening my resolve as I lay waste to not just my enemies but also to unhealthy connections to people, places, and things. Time to crack open my Marie Kondo books and declutter everything around me in order to see past the illusions of the mundane and be free to be on the path to authenticity.

Lower Realm: Barbieri Tarot V Hierophant powerfully tasks us to see the spark of Divine wisdom within each of us, listen to the message from Divinity and conform to It. In this position, the spark of wisdom is breaking through revealing the intensity, length and breadth of the shadow. This is a call to action—conform to Divine Wisdom.
Middle Realm: Rider-Waite 2 of Swords reminds us of calm reflection while being faced with a choice. Although this card suggests conformity, the blindfolded woman grasps the swords close to her chest as she serenely introspects a decision or dilemma.
Uppper Realm: Goddess Oracle 33 Mama Ocha (Water) cautions about getting empathically overwhelmed by the outside world especially by the behaviors and actions of others. She calls for emotional detachment without judgment while going with the flow as water flows through even the hardest rock. Let the waters of self-love and understanding wash away doubts and fears as you follow the task and path to higher ground and wait until you are ready.
Summary Reflection: Decisions, decisions with a call for calm conformity to Divine Wisdom and going with the flow without getting emotionally invested in situations outside of ourselves. This suggests that the shadow is emerging and being revealed. The task is to reflect on it without judgement and letting it completely emerge so we can understand it better. The reading warns against impulsiveness and getting overwhelmed by external distractions, be it peer pressures or mundane events, while providing guidance in letting things unfold in their own time. Reflect from a different vantage point and take the high road. Do not react impulsively but intentionally act only when you are completely ready.

Lower Realm: Barbieri Tarot Knight of Wands - Hold back on your power because you may come off as a show-off. Do not use up all the power you have to prevent unintentional repercussions.
Middle Realm: Rider-Waite VIII Strength reminds to courageously give ourselves some love while being compassionate of the struggles of other.
Uppper Realm: Goddess Oracle 42 Parvati (Devotion) calls for daily meditation in as part of the practice to live in union with all our three aspects-mind, body and soul. She tasks us to get our spiritual life in order as this is a confirmation that your Angels, Spirit Guides and Deity are all lovingly aware of your pursuit of personal growth and recognizes that it isn’t easy. It requires daily prayer and practice of relentless devotion. However, She warns of blind faith in people, places and things that don’t help in your pursuit for transformation. She calls to reexamine and closely introspect the shadow aspect that is driving the blind faith.
Shuffle Jumpers:
Barbieri Tarot
10 of Wands - Know your place when it comes to your duty and make sure you give yourself boundaries. Don’t try to be a hero and burden yourself with others’ issues as it is a disservice to you and the other person. That is their load to carry.
I Magician. - Manifestation comes from our desire that moves the energy all around us. What we will and desire will come to pass.
Goddess Oracle 47 Skuld (Future) - stay true to the moment and continue to focus on your path as it is what will bring forth the future you desire. Avoid too much focus on the future and remain in the now in order to create the future world you desire but don’t be too hard on yourself. Be compassionate to yourself and to others as we are all in the same struggle.
Summary Reflection: This is a complicated reading as it has more layers to it than usual. This has been a difficult 24 hours watching a family member struggle with what they are going through and my own struggle with not getting too invested in it, plus my son is about to complete another milestone. I was very distracted and was unable to do my usual daily ritual.
The shuffle jumpers certainly told me off to mind my own business and focus on my own life. Today’s three-card reading supported shuffle-jumpers’ message of backing off but still be compassionate of what others are going through while focusing on devoting more of my time in the pursuit for personal development, especially my spiritual growth. This reading also calls to remain the course and to reign back any energies expended in helping others. As I flip each card, I realize a few things Firstly, that I am on the right track. Secondly, a warning against blind faith and presumptions that there is always more beyond the veil of the mundane. Thirdly, that I must make time for devotional and spiritual pursuits to maintain balance while being present in the moment.
