I hand-wash my brushes ALL the time, if you don’t know already. And you’ll never find me just dipping the bristles into a bit of cleaning solution and swirling them around, then reusing them. I need to get them CLEAN.
Simply because often, it’s not your makeup breaking you out. It’s your dirty brushes after they come into contact with a lot of dirt, oils and acne bacteria, or having lots of residual liquid/creme makeup caught deep in the bristles where it continues to trap dirt and breed bacteria.
So anything that can do a faster and more thorough job (while not drying out my hands) is a godsend. Juli from Doll to Doll Cosmetics introduced me to this, and here’s why I like it!
It gets my brushes cleaner, much faster, than rubbing them in my palm. Where it really shines is getting dried up liquid foundation out of brushes.
You get lots of foam on the textured surface, so you need to use less cleaning product. (I only need to rub my brushes up and down about 10-15 seconds and they’re clean.)
Your hands stay dry so you don’t keep stripping the moisture away.
You can also reshape the brushes using the section between the thumb and the rest of the gloves, but I prefer just using my hands for that.
Who I’d recommend this to?
Women (and makeup artists) with lots of brushes to clean
Women who are fussy about clean brushes and wash often
Women who’ve invested in expensive brushes that they don’t want to manhandle too much
The cons?
I’ll be honest. It’s not cheap. In fact it’s pretty expensive. So if you aren’t a stickler about your brushes, you probably won’t see a need for something like this.
If you don’t have much problem with spending a bit more time hand-washing your brushes, the benefits from the Spa Glove might not warrant the price for you.
