Need to repost this cuz it’s literally my vision for Kusuo and Kokomi

Saiteru/terusai has me in a choke hold. It's the best and only nonship ship out there that you want to ship by not shipping it. What strikes as unique about this ship is that Saiki from the get-go could have just solved his problem of being pursued by her by ripping the bandaid off and breaking her heart. How dare she have a crush on him? He needs to not stand out, and wants to go home anyway. He feels uncomfortable being projected on in that way.

But no, Teruhashi liking someone is not a sin, even if for shallow insecure reasons such as validating your self-esteem. He just happens to be the only guy that doesn't react to her shenanigans. By being authentic to himself, he accidentally makes himself stand out to her as a deficit of herself she has to fix.

He then goes from hanging out with her only when she inserts herself into his friend group, to hanging out with her alone purely out of pity.

But then we learn she doesn't just keep him around for status, in fact she gains nothing socially from being around him, and with her popularity it actually attracts conflict. Other girls compete with her, and at first its a source of validation to "win", but now at this point its more than that. At the mixer, Saiki gets to see what her feelings are actually composed of. Despite being a psychic, these feelings are more complex and take some digging to sus out. Turns out, she can't redirect those feelings of validation-seeking onto any other guy because its simply Saiki she wants to be around. For her, it'd be great to be the best looking, and it'd also make her happy to have the best relationship possible.

Once saiki realizes that teruhashi can infact value relationships not just for status but for their own sake, he connects with her. He goes out of his way to show his appreciation for her (anonymously of course- don't want to lead her on) such as VOLUNTARILY helping her brother buy her a present. Could she just have shitty presents? Yes. But... why not? He switches out her brother's terrible presents for something she actually likes, an animal mug that suits her taste.

He values her for her, even if he doesn't reciprocate the romantic feelings.

That's the warm-feeling good stuff that our favorite typical ships have, and the mushy gushy stuff is only a vehicle for expressing it in some relationships.

Its a direct call-out of fanonization, where because people irl have diverse sexualities that aren't often expressed in media, they project romantic love onto a canon friendship to create representation. Is this a bad thing? Hell no, stories deserve to be seen and shared through different lenses, thats what keeps them alive. If you want to romantically ship your saiteru/terusai, fuck it.

But having a deeper understanding of their base canon relationship will help you to better write in character, and even understand what makes relationships click in real life.

Its not about what you show, its about how you really feel deep down that matters. Everyone wants to be seen for their true selves.

P.S. if anyone actually reads this, I'm anime only and only halfway through season two. I have a hint of what's coming, but I hope what I've sussed out here gets delivered on later.

P.p.s. When I picture their relationship in a couple years, I want him to walk her down the aisle. Be the godfather of her kids (or cats) and play pretend as ciderman version 2. "Uncle" Saiki's house is lowkey goated cause they have a crazy (good) time every time they go there?

Anyways, fun fact I’m pretty sure it is to be said that his family is the only exception to his personality, so I hc Kusuke to be very similar to his brother (being no-friend driven and introverted) except like super mean to outsiders and sometimes exploiting friendliness to his gain lol. ESPECIALLY with people he can’t stand, in this case it’s my OC who’s also a scientist genius (now he has two rivals, one he’s STILL trying to figure out and it’s pissing him off)

Meanwhile my oc is just… rage baiting him and lowkey in love KSKSK. Kenshi loooves a good competition and quite literally, is looking for someone to match their intellect. They’re genuinely so insane they had challenges where if you weren’t smart enough to solve it you might get a limb off or two for any suitors wanting to date them. Ofc they gained an infatuation when Kusuke was one of the only people able to ever challenge them and make them struggle, meanwhile Kusuke has an internal turmoil about another genius. His brother first (Pretty sure he considers HIM a genius and undermines himself, at least in season one), now this random person? He was slowly getting agitated. At least this one didn’t have psychic powers (what a shame) so the challenges seemed fair enough for the two of them. He enjoys it, but he never will admit it.

He often gets annoyed when they drop by randomly, breaking through his security system somehow, but he gets a thrill sort of when they do it, and they get that same little thrill. They enable each other’s toxic behaviours which makes the relationship more interesting but slightly unhealthy- at least to others. These two are loving it though/j at least it jars Kusuke away from annoying his brother…? Kusuo is at least appreciative of that. There is more nuance to their dynamic, but this is just the basic gist of it.

Anyways moving on I hc that grandpa Saiki has blonde hair, therefore the weird object that’s Kusuke. Boom. Anyways that’s all, he’s gonna soften up eventually dw (I lied smoothly)

ANYWAYS SAIKI K OCS! They’re multifandom but this is specifically Saiki k

Kenshi is the first one [Nonbinary, They/Them, 19/20] and Kutaj is the second one [Girl, She/They, 16/17]. Kutaj is relatively a new addition to the OC collections therefore they’re gacha and haven’t been drawn yet. They all multifandom OCs, and you might see them in other fandoms- but this is mainly Saiki k.

Trigger warnings! Family abuse is highly mentioned along with death, so tread with caution.

They’re both parallels to Kusuke and Kusuo. Kenshi is a mad scientist, a genius of high calibre, and is amazing at all fields of science; their main areas are machinery, biology and chemistry. They first lived with their mother, who was unstable and abusive when their father left, to the point she even plucked their nails out, leaving them nail-less for their entire life. Eventually, their mother had died, leaving them to wander off alone at the age of 4.

Then lived with a family that took them in America since they were four and had raised Kutaj in the family as well. Kutaj was just a baby, dying in a pile of garbage when they found them, so they carefully brought her in and made her first limiter bracelets- because they had found out she was a psychic. But The family wasn’t very good, therefore it was their responsibility to raise her. Kenshi soon grew an attachment, finding her to be ‘the perfect human’ with her morality, compassion and empathy, something they forcefully discarded. After ‘the incident’, they had ran away with Kutaj at 14, Kutaj was about 11 years old. They decided to pursue the sciences and gain even more knowledge only for one reason: to get rid of Kutaj’s psychic abilities. Why? Because they adored her so much, and it aches them to see them suffer because of it. You know the time loop episode where Kusuo died and Kusuke basically indirectly started world war three? Basically, if Kutaj died Kenshi would start a zombie apocalypse to try and bring back the dead; that’s how dedicated they are to their beloved sister. They were known as the crimson scientist in America due to their insane projects and workings, even the American government were afraid to interfere. They moved to Japan after an PK academy offered them to join as a science teacher- but the truth is that they heard information about psychics there, and is desperate to find at least a sample to see if their project moves forward. Also Kusuke’s silly ‘rival’ (I say ‘rival’ because they don’t take shit seriously and Kusuke is about to reach his breaking point) and they kiss on the weekends. Perhaps. Kusuke is still confused on what they are currently but he’s not protesting… I guess

Anyways, Kutaj was born with the power of death. Not like Toritsuka no, she was born with the ability to kill. It manifested first when she was 1 years old, killing her mother when she picked her up. Soon Kutaj became still, a shell of a person with a faint heartbeat- her powers killing her from the inside. Panicked, their father who didn’t want a scandal (they were rich people), threw her out only for Kenshi to find her and help her. When she was 11, she made a mistake by offending the family head, therefore Kenshi took the fall for her and got badly hurt in the process. This also was the breaking point of Kenshi loosing their spark in their eyes and morality fading even more. Kenshi eventually was sent to the hospital to get patched up- and feeling guilty and overwhelmed, their limiters basically turned off, making a huge death aura around the area and killing anyone in it, sobbing into the floor. When Kenshi finally arrived, all bruised up, the aura had calmed down, so they simply walked up to her, switched her limiter on and told her ‘let’s go, get out of here.’ And it was known as ‘The Incident’ the two refuse to talk about.

Without Kutaj’s limiters, she’s able to kill any life form around her with a touch and even paralyse people with their aura- unless it’s Kusuo. Due to Kusuo’s body being so… inhuman due to his powers it is able to somehow twist Kutaj’s powers- instead of killing him, it makes it so that his body is slightly relaxed and his powers are less aggressive- making him the only person she’s able to touch without her limiters. She’s unable to feel warmth with her limiters too, so she is unable to feel good in a hug, or if a fire is burning her hand. She can also see how much a person has left before they die, and how they die. This caused her inability to actually socialise and make friends as she’s constantly worrying about their death, so she just- stopped, deciding to be an introvert. Her glasses help her to not see those death notices, as it hides it away from her like shields. She’s more macabre, since her powers are killing her she feels like it’s worthless to even fight for her life (therefore Kenshi is desperate to actually find a cure), but only wears it because they don’t want to leave Kenshi alone, who’s unstable due to trauma (she is as well, but she doesn’t acknowledge it). The little thing she finds nice is plants, and unironically- medicine. She learns it so she can keep herself busy, and feel useful for something other than death. Although Kenshi sees her as the perfect human, she sees herself as inhumane. Her and Kusuo are more like siblings, playing around and even fighting over who gets to have the last sweet. They resonate with each other and feeling inhumane due to their powers

Anyways Kutaj and Kenshi are both siblings who love each other deeply, in contrast of Kusuke and Kusuo’s relationship- but their own internal struggles causes them to be too emotionally dependant on one another, making it unhealthy even if the display is loving.

Extra info: Kutaj is a lesbian, and Kenshi is whatever the fuck they are.

They’re both also canonically a very stunning pair of siblings- Kutaj’s gag is also that she’s a ‘masculine beauty’ who makes the bisexuals panic and girls question themself (/nsrs) and Kenshi is known to be doe eyed, cunning and very persuasive because they’re just so gosh darn pretty !!

Kutaj prefers masc clothing, Kenshi prefers whatever their mood says.

Kenshi wears a jester like outfit because they actually believe they’re closer to the heavenly principles, who are kings, and they’re their jester (traditionally known to be right hand men of kings at times) entertaining them on the stage known as Earth. They’re very confident in themself-

Kutaj is also intentionally supposed to look similar to Kuriko (VERY LIGHTLY THOUGH) to drive in the silly ‘Friendship so wack people assume ur siblings instead of a couple’ dynamic

Kenshi is half African and half Bengali-Japanese, Kutaj is full Bengali.

Kenshi is a huge rage baiter and Kusuke is their favourite person to ragebait ( “Am I Kusuke Saiki’s baby mama yes I am” “OH MY GOD NO THEYRE NOOOOOOT” ) (pls get the ref or its not funny)
