"Taters, whens can we taste the tasty taters, precious?" Richie croaks in his best Gollum, crouched over but still managing to hover above Eddie.

It's a great angle for Eddie to elbow him in the ribs.

But halfheartedly. He's concentrating on the steaming pot of mashed potatoes on the stove: their contribution to the Third Official Losers Club Friendsgiving Extravaganza.

"Seriously, dude? I haven't even added the fucking chives!" Which Eddie does, with a flourish—one more whip—and only then surrendering a spoonful.

Richie licks it clean. "Yep. Definitely the second best thing I've put in my mouth today."

Hartley started out as a compelling villain whose primary rival was the main villain of the season, Thawne, with whom he had a complicated and wildly unhealthy relationship. In season 1 he came in swinging with be gay do crimes and then bounced. In season 2 he got a time traveling retcon to be a good boy and reconcile with his shitty homophobic parents for no reason at all. The next time we saw him, the entire world had been rewritten and he was a completely different character with all of his history erased. He then got an extremely boring episode about how his random boyfriend whom we didn't know and didn't care about needed rescuing in the most boring way possible. Then they got to kiss once as the camera blurred them. He sees a man who looks like Thawne, the guy who ruined his life, and he makes a joke about him being pretty. He barely reacts to his main foil Cisco fundamentally changing himself to be in a ""normal"" relationship, a thing that should elicit a reaction from a man whose major motivation is gay rage. Every time something heavy and interesting could happen with him, it doesn't. They didn't even make him properly Deaf or do anything with his hearing that indicated he was in that community, which he is in the comics. Also, they took away his pretty glasses in later seasons.
