Also can we talk about camera work parallels during D-16's and Orion Pax's speeches when recruiting high guard and miners respectively?

As D empathizes his speech on I/me revolving it around himself camera spins getting closer to his face only showing the crowd in the end

As Orion gets on same level to miners empathizing on us/we camera shows crowds reaction spining out from him to cheering crowd

And how D's speech ends up with him blasting into air letting Arachnid discover the base (just like she noticed them when D couldn't stay put watching quintessons meeting) in contrast to outcome of Orion's speech saving Elita & high guard troops in train from Arachnid's attack

After learning the truth about Sentiel regime and getting transformation cog D-16 continuously shows up striking red flags as signs of build up rage and incapability of seeing big picture in thirst for revenge

Ofc the most obvious 'No I want to kill him' speech, but first ones were constant empathize on I, himself and what he wants. Post receiving t-cog maniac laughter, violent tendencies and seeking out being the one in control, look how he uncharacteristically takes proof Alpha Trion gave them & lead from Orion saying 'I. got. it-'. Then when Orion talks with D 'I will never trust so called leader ever again' right before being attacked by High Guard. Head first challenging Starscream and pointing newly discovered fusion canon into opponents face declaring 'Bear witness! This is the last time I show mercy'. After reuniting with Pax when Orion tries to check on him and build up strategy D dismisses him 'This is nothing compared to what I'm gonna do to Sentiel' & 'I'm doing this my way'. Repeatedly trying to blast Sentiel with fusion canon not realizing the destruction he causes, when Orion tries to talk sense to D 'I have to do this' & 'Pax, you need to move out of my way before I move you myself'. And of course 'I'm done saving you' & 'Primus gave you the Matrix'. It's all there. In clear sight

Each time D does this camera goes to close shot on Orion's reaction

Even first time they see recreation of Sentiel trying to take matrix for himself, Pax's initial reaction was shock, while D-16's - rage

Megatron is product of the system, formed by blind anger and vengeance, whose tragedy is succumbing into his own version of said system repeating violence

Which takes roots from deeply personal views & mindset of D-16

And worst thing is, every time Orion was right there beside D noticing all of it, trying to call out to his friend only to see him fall deeper and deeper, giving into resented rage, choosing violent path. Despite all effort Orion was unable to do anything about it but watch D becoming the very thing he had sworn to destroy, failing to save his closest friend from himself

There was total 4 instances of using Zolly (shifting depth of background for dramatic effect) in Transformers One

2 technical in first half, and 2 storytelling in second half

> One when D-16 witness Sentiel beheading Megatronus in revelation of his false nature in betrayal of Primes

> Another when Orion saw D-16's fusion canon came out for first time during fight with Starscream in High Guard base

Both are character realization and moments of shock about something important, for D-16 shatter of his worldview and beliefs letting his build up rage spill out & for Orion is recognition and growing concerns for his close friend's destructive tendencies

> 2 others are used for direct depth sense (Orion falling from the building in opening chase scene and as squad watches energon train being pressed with shifting rocks of Cybertron's landscape)

There's nothing more cinematic as great zolly shot and this camera technique was put in great use here

Pretty funny how Arachnid's first to go battle move attack is to pock the opponent with stingers as much, as quick and as pressing as possible while yelling

Instead of right out banishing Megatron Optimus should have announced time out and took him to couple bestie therapist. Think, millennium of war could've been prevented by one or few therapy sessions

The major flawed point of Megatron's viewpoint is the fact that Cybertron needs Primes, they need Matrix so energon natural resources will flow. The Age of Primes has ended with Sentiel's usurpation, not with Megatron's uprising. Sentiel was no Prime. Without the matrix miners left with no choice but continue to mine for energon and Megatron can't do anything about it

Best he could is to make miners equally treated, probably find and return all stolen transformation cogs (if Sentiel didn't destroyed t-cogs as in film they received them from fresh energon pool so likely) but never be able to fully set them free cause of dependance on energon mines

You can say D-16 subconsciously wished to become Prime himself and got really salty when he didn't

Also you sure Megatron is down with the Primes?

Like Megatronus is literally his idol to extreme case, Alpha Trion fixed & gave him means to rise up literally handing to D-16 along with group Solus, Onix, Alchemist & Micronus transformation cogs, he devastated when betrayer took lives of all 13. The only one he had beef with is Sentiel who isn't even a Prime. Yet his closest friend got cold shoulder treatment for becoming one after literally dying and coming back online by sheer miracle of Matrix. It clearly only problem with false one but 13 ancient heroes and Orion got swapped all together under rage radar cause of Sentiel's long lasting usurpation of the title

Megatronus should sue D-16 for 'identity treft, impersonating & organ trafficking + copyright violations' using matrix as transmitter, metch did not concent to whatever this is

Another thing about D-16 is the fact Sentiel was a false leader who usurped title & legacy of Primes and instead of being mad at him for disgracing name of his idols he got mad at Primes as whole. Who in fact are ancient heroes and have nothing to do with Sentiel's crimes. In his rage and thirst for revenge he became so blinded to extend of lashing on his closest friend for merely becoming one after letting him on death fall. To think all they went through was in search for Matrix in the first place, originally with goal to restore their planet natural resources. Obvious but oblivious

The funny thing about TFO Megatron that in his uprising he became resentful towards Primes yet look at him naming himself after one of them, taking transformation cog and engraving the very face of said Prime on his chest as insignia making it symbol of Decepticons

Jro scrapped this plot idea cause it's too dark (seriously, I'd die inside the moment I read it) but similar shit got carried away in some form with Skids and Nautica

At least man admitted that he couldn't really make issues with that plot point work and that slightly redeems him. He's aware

I'll forever be frustrated about Skids plotline

Nautica became that someone for Skids, Amica Endurae who saw him for his kindness, she changed him for better

Then Lost Light basically applied that Nautica betrayed Skids and pointed out that she acted out of character

And it's all while we could have had completely adequate satisfying ending for his story arc (in MTMTE notebooks)

Absolutely adore how silly Earthspark Decepticons are. They are legit just vibin'. Like Starscream arrived to save the night with honorable speech only to be interrupted by affection to which he's not used at all and irritates a bit cuz he's in the moment oh so excited to fight Megaton in sake of good ol' days. Not to mention his missiles with shark faces on it. Starscream took he's sweet time to draw them before great entrance didn't he. Then Skywarp and Nova Storm join him striking epic poses together. Swindle and Soundwave break into scene having time of their life riding Hardtop who announces their entrance with mtmte theme song and proceeds to beat crap out of Sharkticon with his only hand. Soundwave literally can fly but mech decided to have fun (I bet Ravage sits there in cassette mode). And Breakdown went right to Bumblebee with silly wink mid air. They are goofballs. Blorblo material. It's genuinely simply impossible to not love them
