I am so sorry I seemed to drop off the face of the earth, y’all! My mental health has just been whack… and my Sims 4 game stopped working again, which means it’s going to take a while to fix it all over again if I go back to it.

So instead of playing around with The Sims, I have turned to just doing art to express myself again. Here’s to hoping my mental health improves.

My mental health took a huge hit not long after my Sims 4 game stopped working last year. I am not exactly sure what caused it at first. All I know is that I suddenly felt I needed to rewatch “Beetlejuice: The Animated Series” all over again and the more I watched, the more I remembered that I missed someone who really doesn’t deserve for me to miss them. I remembered his smile, the sound of his laugh, some of our favorite jokes, how I had been the Lydia to his Beetlejuice… and I fell hard into missing him. I started trying to reach out to find him again and going to bed every night in tears when he didn’t answer me back.

Eventually, the weekend of my birthday in November, I reached him and it was awful. He told the people that delivered my messages to him that I was crazy and deranged and for them to let me know that he no longer needed me in his life because he was happily married. He also said something about a restraining order even though I really hadn’t spoken to him for at least a year before that point and when I did, I was just trying to make sure he was alive and happy.

Am I glad to know he’s alive? Yes, actually. I am. That was all I was really asking to know and I hope he really is happy. But the words did hurt and the sudden news of marriage shook my internal foundation all over again.

It has been at least two and a half months now, maybe three that I have known what he told me and I am still recovering. It is hard not to cry sometimes but I am finding that I am crying less and less often. However, it is going to take me quite a while to recover from the thoughts and feelings that were brought on. It stings so much to feel like I was not worth the wait for someone that I had loved for so long and that I was not worth marrying to that person so long ago. But on the best days, I am able to remind myself that I am loved. My family loves me, my best friends love me, I love me. The trouble is convincing myself that someone can love me romantically for the long term. I’ve been trying to work on that for ten years now and I’m not about to stop.

The road to recovery is never usually easy. But I am hoping to eventually be able to return to working on The Sims 4- I have further plans for more CC in mind. I just don’t know when.

For now though, it is difficult one some days not to just let this song take over my whole brain and cry.

Quick update:

I took a break from modding this week only to come back and find my Sims 4 game refusing to work again. It may be a bit before I make more mods or CC.

Working On My First Mod!!!

I got to thinking about this manga I used to love reading the other day. It’s called “WISH” and it’s super cute. It’s about this angel who goes to Earth in search of one of her friends from Heaven and while there, she ends up falling for a human who saved her from a demon.

Anyway, I was thinking about my favorite pairing from “WISH” when I realized... Wouldn’t it be fun to play as them on my Sims 4 game? So I began looking through CC to see if I could find the cosmetic stuff to make them in my game and I found a lot but there was something I wanted to introduce to my storyline in game that no one seemed to have- I wanted some kind of tattoo for Kohaku to temporarily wear and since no one had what I was looking for, I looked up how to make custom tattoos and voila! I learned how to make my first tattoo for Sims 4. From there, it was just a small leap to learning how to make makeup CC and while I was learning how to do that, I happened upon a magical program called The Sims 4 Mod Constructor. It looked really daunting at first since I didn’t understand some of the phrases used in the program, so I went to YouTube and found this amazing tutorial series that really helped me out!

So I am now in the process of creating a traits and buffs mod that includes Angels, Demons and Halflings. Each trait will have their own buffs and special interactions and I am hoping to find a way to make the mod automatically assign a trait based on the parents to the toddlers. For example, if a Sim with the Angel trait has a child with a Sim who has the Demon trait, then when that child ages up to Toddler, they should automatically get the corresponding Halfling trait.

So be on the lookout for when this mod is finished!
