Parenting: Timon vs. Pumbaa

I think that these men could be both Timon and Pumbaa with Tamika and Lina

Timon’s the one getting drawn on and pranked on while he’s sleeping and Pumbaa’s the one having nice little tea parties 😭😩

Headcanon: Timon is great with kids....

...the ones that can walk, talk, see, hear, and eat on their own.

He is fundamentally perturbed by babies, especially the fresher looking ones that resemble grubs more than anything else.

Pumbaa however is a baby whisperer lol.

Okay, so reading a National Geographic article I learned that meerkats can take to main roles in a colony: sentries, burrowers, and babysitters.

And Timon wasn´t a great sentrier nor a burrower, but he is great to take care of children.

Coincidence? I don´t think so

Fanfic Update #3:

Sorry for the lack of updates...work's piling up big time since the school year starts up next week, and since this is my first year doing full time hours, the fanfic has been taking a bit of a back seat.

But that doesn't mean I haven't been doing story work on it! But the difference this time is I need some input from you to see if I'm on the right track:

Firstly, I've been thinking about doing an overhaul on the format, and essentially rewrite the story In Verse. There's something about this story that I think could really work with a lyrical narrative, but it's still kinda up in the air. Whether it's a 10k+ word epic or a collection of poems, I need to finish this story. I'll figure out which path to take once I get some time to experiment.

Secondly, there's a pretty major theme I've been contemplating on whether to add or not, and here's where your input comes in. But that also comes with a warning...

They involve some pretty dark headcanons that if they're too heavy a subject matter for you, you're more than welcome to not read any further than this.

(TW: Suicide and Suicidal Ideation)

While writing this story I came up with the headcanon that before meeting Timon, Pumbaa contemplated suicide at least once, but chickened out before acting on anything. He hasn't had those feelings for years by the time the events of my fanfic roll around, but memories of that time do come back in some form or another. They largely serve as a reminder to Pumbaa that while things are pretty stressful now, he's bounced back from much worse. I'm also contemplating whether or not he reveals any of this to Simba or Timon.

Speaking of Timon...

While I was some brainstorming about possible hobbies and personality traits for Fearless Buzz, a pretty sobering line came to fruition:

"The only fight he couldn't win, was the one with his own mind."

And then I thought it would be an interesting idea to expand Buzz's death beyond the typical "a predator killed him," explanation that everyone and their mother has done by this point, and possibly allude to mental illness also playing a role.

But seeing how a lot of folks here headcanon Buzz to be modeled after the late Robin Williams, I also see the risk of that possible plot point to be incredibly insensitive, especially if done wrong. It would not be a detriment to anything I've written so far to forgo this part of the storyline, so if it sounds like a bad idea to you, tell me and I won't do it.

For Pumbaa 👀

I shined on this a little bit when I said that Pumbaa used to be touch-starved, but as a result he LOOOOVES getting touched. It's essentially his love language.

Now, Pumbaa immediately liked Timon when they first met. The fact that somebody wanted to actually hold a conversation for more than a few seconds instantly made them a friend in his eyes.

But when Timon pulled THIS:

TINGLES UP AND DOWN HIS SPINE FOR DAAAYYSSS. Had him by the heart HOOK, LINE AND SINKER.

He still thinks about that moment, more often than he'd like to admit. Gets him really hot under the collar lol.
