God 30 episodes were NOT enough time with her, I miss her so much. I keep stalking the BONY tag on tumblr and seeing everyone’s glorious reactions to the early episodes, and seeing them *love* Aelys as much as I did/do.

And I’m just so sad y’all. Grieving her all over again bc we will never get the Aelys of Before back. That woman is gone and I’m so sad. Of course I’ll love any version of her, anything that’s Left, because it’s *Aelys*, but god it hurts.

Such a brilliant and heartbreaking story the Champion brothers made, I love them so much for it.

okay actually it's maybe even more devastating that they only forget parts of aelys. katari's "where did she go?" breaks my heart. will said they forget aelys's growth, the xilyreon, the sacrifice. but that means katari still remembers her fellow girl under the table and she doesn't know where she went

I just finished Chap 7 :)))

What an episode, trully. The Bubbles backstory, more of Chrome and Bary (I love the both of them so much), a new intruiging bounty and Hareem revealing himself to actually be a sly fox (or hippo ?)...

But mostly, AELYS WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ????? Copper on your bones ??? Becoming "immovable as a concept" ???? My girl has issues and apparently the only way she has found to deal with them is body mods !!

More seriously though, this was so interesting regarding Aelys' character, we learned so much with that. Like, the foundational traume of Aelys' identity is clearly to have been stripped of something that she considered hers, and that she believed made her her. So of course given the chance she would take a procedure with a 50/50 chance of death to be able to prevent that from happening again.

She is ready to chain her identity to a specific moment in time, and to an impulsive decision to never loose control again. She is ready to embrace corruption, to wrap poison around her bones and to seal it with copper just to be able to say that she did it to herself, that nobody could take that agency from her. She will destroy herself first so that nobody can do it to her. I AM UNWELL

Also, I'm always a fan of hard magic systems, and of the practical implications of magic in fantasy worlds. So the brutal and heavy body mods, changing the very composition of your organism is just so fascinating to me. Aelys was unmade, then remade, to an atomic level, that's crazy ! Imagine the trauma that it represents to her body ! Especially considering that there are now two new foreign substances in there. I can't stop thinking about the implications for her health, how she HAS to develop some form of chronic pain from the added weight to her skeleton, or some form of addiction to the relief that her parasite provides from that pain. We could very much imagine her getting addicted to her Haste, because for just a minute it makes her feel as powerful as she used to be, and relieves her from the weight and discomfort of her new skeleton.

Anyhow, this is FASCINATING, and I need someone to write about it.
