A Perfect Circle's
Mer De Noms
Maynard James Keenan, who some of you may know from TOOL or Puscifer, made a 2nd band after the creation of TOOL and before Puscifer, known as a Perfect circle. Mer De Noms is the first studio album from this band, and it serves as a WONDERFUL introduction to Maynard's more personal exploration of his style.
This album opens with a track titled "The Hollow" and wonderfully sets the tone for the rest of the album, hard drums, guitars, and basses that boom right out of the speakers, only to turn into a foundation to Maynard's gorgeous and clear voice. Each tune in this album carries this theme, with the occasional incorporation of STRINGS that phase in to add to the guitar, or maybe even full on take it over. Like in "Rose" where it comes to bring a break from the overwhelming sort of grumbly synthetic bass that drives the song with slightly harder vocals. ITS A BLAST
But my personal favourite?
Judith.
A blast of a punk, grunge, heavy rock song that speaks directly about Maynard's mother, and her relationship with God after she was paralyzed during a cerebral aneurism. And Maynard speaks, or rather, yells about his views on the subject. I urge any rock lover or any person with an experimental music taste to give this album a listen. And hey, give me your opinion in the comments if you enjoy it.

This post is dedicated to my mother, who introduced me to this hand and Maynard's other projects.
