Hopediah „Hop Pop” Plantar from the cartoon Amphibia is a loving, but strict grandpa to Sprig and Polly. He also took Anne the human in when she had nowhere to go. He's a farmer and makes his home in a small village. He likes tradition and things being done the right way. He tends to be overprotective, but he loosens up a bit by the end of the series.

Innocentius XIV (Vincent Benitez) from the movie Conclave was a young (comparatively) intersex cardinal who appeared unannounced at the Conclave after the Pope’s death. After a lot of political squabbles he was chosen as the new Pope, because of his compassionate spirit and connection to disadvantaged people (and maybe some godly intervention).

Simon Petrikov from the cartoon Adventure Time was Marcelline’s father figure who fell victim to a mysterious artefact that made him slowly lose his memories and mental health. He took up a new name as the changed Ice King, who’s a comedy villain of the series for a while.

Propaganda:

(mostly from the spin-off series Fionna and Cake where he's a mc) incredibly pathetic old man. he was literally drawn sopping wet for a FnC promo image. hates himself so bad and is full of over 1000 years of guilt. self-sacrificial as hell he almost sacrificed his sanity for people he barely knew and only stopped because his goddess wife (who sacrificed herself for his sanity) had to intervene. his most charming points: his kitten in a wet cardboard box demeanor, drinking issues and severe depression

Cardinal Thomas Lawrence from the movie Conclave is the dean of the College of Cardinals. He’s responsible for planning the titular conclave and seeing to it that everything goes well and the Pope is chosen well. He wants to step down, but he keeps being forced to take responsibility.

Propaganda:

Has spent his entire long, miserable, repressed life simply saying "yes" whenever he's told "pick a struggle": depressed, self-harming, and suicidal; bisexual but celibate; Catholic; English; has an eating disorder; and probably has the other kind of ED, too, after his tangle with prostate cancer. We meet him a month after he already fully crashed out, except he was then told by the late pope he had to put his crash out on hold because his job is more important than he is. Suddenly has his tattered faith partially restored by the arrival of Beautiful Perfect Angel Cardinal McJesusAllegory, except the new guy is too busy insisting Thomas should become pope to notice Thomas’s heart-eyes crush. He DOESN’T WANT YOUR VOTE!!!, which is exactly why he deserves it <3

funniest thing about conclave movie is that they changed "that firm hand of yours will have its admirers" to "has its admirers" present tense. suddenly it's not "you will be greatly admired as pope." it's "pope or not, i admire you right now..."

I was very normal about this movie for so long..... But then I made the mistake of reading fanfics when I was in Italy because idk when in Rome (literally) ig....... Help they were good- The final nail in the coffin was the visual novel- wdym this serious ass movie about gossipy cardinals has a fan made visual novel ???? And it's good ???? This fandom is great and I'm now trapped and no longer normal about these old people (all of them)
