wait that so peak, the pilot representing the pointlessness of war and breaking the boys of their logically thinking ties into the fact the golding was there at d-day so he saw the brutally of war first hand

Honestly i love the lotf boys but we kinda forgot about the dead pilot that landed on the island. For so long the boys feared he was also a beast, but he was just a product of the inhumanity going on in the rest of the world. Maybe he was meant to foreshadow ralph being hunted down at the end? I dunno im just thinking out loud

oh my gosh the dead pilot, i remember from thug notes/summary that it was to represent the fall of humanity or smth along the lines. and like the historical context was that the US would send parachutes to random Pacific islands to fight Japanese soldiers on the islands since that was a whole thing of sending soldiers to fight other soldiers on inhabited islands
