Rainy Day Morning Honolulu

Ala Moana Center’s large Santa Claus is down in pieces again, with only his torso showing up here. The big jolly guy is being packed away to be put back in storage for the next 11 months until he returns for the next season.

There Won’t Be Anymore Mondays for 2019

As 2019 rapidly comes to a close (in less than 48 hours as of this posting), it’s time to briefly reflect and project about the year past and the year to come.

Here on Tumblr, the focus of the blog has changed from commentary to being a photo album. This is because my old site at Flickr started to charge double of what their previous price was. A 100% price hike is a way to truly scare off a cash strapped subscriber like me. So in June, I finally bailed from Flickr.

Today this Tumblr blog will be sort of a public photos showcase for me, though not as much as what used to be on Flickr. This site will be mostly Hawaii focused with what I hope will be pretty if not dynamic photos.

TOD Under Construction

New high rises are being constructed throughout Honolulu as developers erect new building taking advantage of the City & Country’s Transit Oriented Developmet (TOD) initiative. Developers get sweetheart deals to exceed current building height and density requirements. TOD has come about due to the extremely costly rail project now under construction costing taxpayers near $10 billion. Property owners will be impacted with higher taxes as new TOD properties are developed nearby.
