What pride flag is that in James icon

[ That would be the updated (2021) disability pride flag, because James is a disabled character and July is disability pride month. My Penny blog has it too, and she actually has an autism flag variant of her avatar as well that I considered posting but the colors are brighter and it's a lot on a small avatar like that. ]

Yeah, Qrow isn’t buying that for a second. The office is in an unusual state of disarray, not to mention the state James himself is in. Knowing him, he probably hasn’t slept since the, uh, incident occurred.

“Because you look like shit, Jim,” Qrow answered bluntly. “Go take a nap and get something to eat. Clover and Winter can hold down the fort while you get some rest.”

It’s a long shot that Qrow doesn’t think will work, but he has to try.

“Do you compliment all the boys like that? Taiyang is a lucky man.”

Persuasion attempt failed. Just because Qrow’s accurate doesn’t mean he’s right. But he does concede very slightly, though, and reaches over with his free hand to pat around for the cardboard tray containing the greasy, unappetizing short order burger. He doesn’t go for the burger, but he does go for one of the fries.

“I’m fine. Even if I wasn’t, though, I wouldn’t have a choice. This is too far above their paygrade. Furthermore, it’s just emails.”

Another fry.

“Many, many emails.”

“Fine.”

The slightly-disheveled and neurotic nature of his appearance might say otherwise, but he’ll lie through his teeth as long as it means no one worries about him. Maybe it’s the way he looks exhausted, almost as if he hadn’t left the academy grounds at all since last night (he hasn’t,) or maybe it’s the way he’s been monitoring the news in one browser window for most of the day. Maybe even the way he’s got a half-written email to Pietro idling on his scroll, which is sitting on his desk.

The uneaten lunch from the mess hall sitting mostly ignored on his desk also probably doesn’t help his case. In his defense, though... Winter had brought it. And it is... not appetizing in the slightest. Which isn’t Winter’s fault, she’s not usually in the position of being the one he asks to run out to grab him something to eat.

“Why do you ask?”

"Hey, you okay?" Qrow asked, leaning asked James' desk. After what had happened in Mantle the other night... he was sure James was upset. But he wasn't about to talk about it with anyone, so Qrow was going to take it upon himself to make him talk.

[ Continue to avoid them in any way he can. He'd refuse to talk to them, refuse to look at them, do anything he could to avoid acknowledging them. He's confrontational, but not that confrontational. ]

[ Your first mistake is assuming that James' definition of "gentle love" isn't just quiet tough love, haha. James is actually gentle with perhaps one person in his day-to-day, two if he's dating Qrow or Tai. That being said, he also doesn't really know what to do with being loved gently anymore. His main/canon ship partner is basically traumatizing him by being nice to him. ]
