It wouldn't make a lot of sense for me to do that, I kind of owe you anyway. Crazy stalker dude, huh? Don't have to worry about that too much.
Tumblr media
I haven't figured that part out yet. Suggestions?
I don’t see why you would, but it’s always better to check rather than just showing up like some crazy stalker dude.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'll be taking advantage of my last day off by staying inside and not freezing to death. Hot chocolate and movies, here I come.

Oh yeah, especially when you ask them about the complex sciences of the 123s.

Sometimes I realize how weird it must seem that my best friends are five year olds, who are forced to listen to me all day.

Taking a deep breath, Madison finally found her way out of the living room to get ready to go to the wedding because somewhere between the glasses of wine she thought it'd be a good idea. She knew if she wanted to get over it, she'd have to go and get it over with quick- like pulling off a bandaid- but it still hurt. There was something about the way a man she didn't even truly know broke her heart so much that didn't make since. When she found herself really thinking about it, Madison hated how much she gave in to his tricks, noting that it was her fault every time her father hurt her. What hurt the most was knowing that it shouldn't be this way, it shouldn't be anything like this but it was. Heading towards the shower, she dreaded the moment she'd actually made the committment to going by inviting Ethan.
Out of everyone, Madison chose Ethan Kirby to be the one to help her during this, one of the worst times of her life so far. It didn't really make sense, looking at it from an outside perspective, but there was something safe about him. Something that didn't make her feel like an idiot for making a decision like this based off of a few run-ins around town.
Smoothing her hands over the dress, Madison looked in the mirror, still wondering why she was putting herself through this all over again. Closure, she breathed, closure. She wouldn't let some idiot ruin her life unless it was truly worth it- which she hoped this girl was. That's all she could hope- or at least that he doesn't hurt someone else like the way he'd done for her. Meanwhile, she could at least focus on some other unimportant things that could occupy her until she really had to deal with it.  The dress, she remembered, was from some kind of old shop that she went to recently. When she saw it, she figured that if she would put herself through her father's wedding, she'd do it looking the best she could. That didn't really work out, though, because the more she looked, the more damage she saw. Shrugging, she ran her fingers through her curls, shaking them out. Hopefully, she wouldn't even be noticed, just in and out. There was a chance, of course, the girl or her father would try to talk to her, in which she'd pretend to actually care, but she could deal with that.
Hopefully.
Their last texts showed that she probably had some time to clear her head before the wedding so Madison sat on the couch, grabbing her phone. Ten new texts, five voicemails. Stupid dad, stupid girlfriend. By now, she expected them to understand that she wasn't getting back to them, but she didn't want to be rude about it. Sure, she had a lot to blame them for, but no one deserved to be treated badly. The wedding would kill her emotions for about a good few months, which wouldn't last her through Tree Hill. She loved the place with all her heart, but it caused a lot of emotional damage. The storm, her dad, everything happened there. Hearing the door knock, Madison bit her lip back, ready for tons of fake smiles throughout the day. After slipping into her heels, she walked towards the door and opened it. Seeing him, for some reason, took some edge off so it didn't feel nearly as bad as it should. "Ready?"
Going to the Chapel|| Madison and Ethan
Quickly, Ethan buttoned the buttons down one of his few dress shirts and ran his hands down his chest attempting to smooth out the wrinkles. Seriously, he had no clue the last time that he’d had a nice shirt on and considering that this one looked as if it was permanently wrinkled, Ethan was betting it had been a long damn time. He took a moment to glance in the mirror in the bathroom as he continued to try to smooth out the wrinkles. Shoulder slumping forward with his loud sigh, Ethan found himself wishing he had something nicer to wear. Like a suit or something. People wear suits to weddings, right?
Raising his eyebrow at that thought, Ethan snorted to himself. He’d worn a suit twice in his life, and both times they’d been rented and quickly returned. His senior prom had been alright, but his dad’s funeral fucking sucked and now suits definitely reminded him of that whole day. It wasn’t something that he really ever wanted to remember.
So yeah. No suit.
He was a little surprised that he’d agreed so quickly to go with Madison when she’d texted him earlier and invited him to go with her to her dad’s wedding. Honestly, he’d do about anything to spend some time with her, and it seemed like she really needed some company. He couldn’t really imagine a parent getting married again. His mom had ran off years ago and he literally knew nothing about her. For all he knew, she was remarried and happy, but it wasn’t like he had been a part of the ceremony. He figured this might be a bit hard for Madison since she didn’t want to go alone. And even though he didn’t really know where he and Madison stood, Ethan knew that he liked her and that he genuinely cared if she was upset. So as he read the text hours earlier, he’d quickly let his fingers reply for him without putting much thought into his answer. Of course he was going to go with her.
Taking a moment to take a deep breath, Ethan unbuttoned his shirt and headed toward the front of the house and threw the shirt into the dryer. As the wrinkles fell out of his shirt in the dryer, Ethan finished getting ready for the wedding. As he was walking out the door, he paused to grab his shirt, throw it on, and leave before anything else could delay him. He drove the quick drive to Madison’s house and pulled his truck to a park by the curb. He glanced around and gratefully noticed that Jamie Scott’s vehicle was no where to be found. Taking another deep breath and reminding himself that he had no reason to be nervous—- besides, since when the hell was Ethan Kirby nervous?— he strolled up the sidewalk and rapped his knuckles against the door and waited for Madison to appear.

Ethan: Hey, if it's too weird, we will just take advantage of the open bar. I'll pick you up in a bit, then?
Madison: I didn't even think of that one, but hey, that's what wingmen are for. Yeah, sounds good.

Ethan: Thanks.
Ethan: Your dads, huh? Okay. Definitely will be your wingman, Sanchez. And you're right. Who could do it better? When do we leave?
Madison: Yeah, it's a little weird, but it's fine. You're the best, Kirby. No one could do it better. I guess in a couple hours? It starts at eight.

Ethan: So do you want me to find someone who's not insane to go with you?
Ethan: I'm kidding. If you want me to be your wingman, I'm in. Whose wedding?
Madison: Good one.
Madison: I definitely need a wingman, and who could do it better? My dad's, no big deal.

Ethan: Yeah, sure. What's up?
Madison: I have to go to a wedding today and I figured it wouldn't suck half as much if I had someone that wasn't completely insane by my side. What do you think?

Is it really bad that I'm basically living off of take-out right now? Cooking is impossible after work and then sometimes I just get too lazy.

[Madison knew that it'd be hard to keep up the charade of being so happy with the burden of her father resting on her shoulders. The day had, in all actuality, started bad and then hit a moment where it was somewhat perfect. She definitely didn't want it to end badly and have the cycle repeat itself. She wanted everything to be fine, even if it meant that it would probably come back to bite her later. As she watched him scan through the movies, Madison felt the feeling in the pit of her stomach that she knew would've eventually come and took a deep breath, looking up to try to stop the tears. There was no need to make more of a burden than she already had by crying, so when she had it under control, she looked back as he started to talk again. Laughing lightly at his choice, Madison decided to tease him over it a little.] That's such a guy choice, my gosh. I mean, I have cinematic classics like Frankenstein, The Breakfast Club and even Rocky and you go and choose Fast and the Furious? I should've known. [Madison joked, shaking her head teasingly. For some reason, even in this bad moment of her life, she still found some kind of happiness in him. It shocked her, but she didn't question it.]
Tumblr media
[The two sat like that for awhile, his hand wrapped around her waist as she leaned slightly into him, and it was nice. It felt like everything might just end out okay for her this time. After all, she did deserve for at least something to go her way. Even with the troubles of her father and mother and every little thing in between, something about this moment felt right. Something about it felt safe, like nothing could happen to her in this moment. The silence and serenity of it all almost aided in her pain. Her once sharp, tight breaths were now normal and calm. After awhile, Ethan asked if she was okay. At this point, she was, for the most part. So it wouldn't technically be lying, would she? Why did it suddenly matter anyway? She'd lied about being fine or not before. Taking a deep breath, she decided to go with her gut about it.] Right now? Yeah, I'm perfectly fine. Later, well, I can't promise much.

[At his response, Madison let out a small laugh, shaking her head.] Well, you know what they say, honesty is the best policy! [Jokingly tapping his nose, she watched as he picked up the phone and she started looking through her bag, mainly laughing at what she saw. Some of that laughter was, again, only really about her shock of how all of this happened. Knowing she probably seemed like a crazy person, Madison suppressed her laughter, listening to him order the pizza. Checking her phone as well, she noticed a text from her father, deciding that she'd check it later. She'd had enough emotional trauma for today, she didn't need her father to worsen the situation. But her curiosity got the better of her, so she checked it, biting her lip as she read on. It was short and sweet, but somehow it still made her hesitate. She didn't know what to do about that. He knows she doesn't want to be involved with anything to do with him, yet he still makes sure to invite her to the wedding anyway. It's like he was slowly torturing her just to see what'll happen. Taking a deep breath out, she looked over, smiling lightly at him and his dog, letting it all sink in. For now, this is what mattered. She was here, not halfway across the country or wherever her father ran off to. Shoving her phone back in her bag, she reached for his hand, sitting next to him on the floor, taking out her computer and handing him the bag. With a smile, she responded, her voice not as shaky as it could've been, but still shaky enough for questions she hoped he wouldn't ask.] How about you pick?

I have rights to be sassy when I want to.
Tumblr media
Yeah, I know. For some reason he really thinks that I want to be involved. I don't know what kind of miracle land he's living in, but you know, I'd rather avoid it. I know they can't make me, but my morals can. Still, no matter what I tell myself, I can't bring myself to go. I just can't. But if I do end up torturing myself and going, I will definitely need a wingman if you think you can handle it.
Hey. I’m hilarious. Someone is bringing her sassy side out today, aren’t they?
Tumblr media
Twenty-eight? That’s…. wow. I don’t really know what to tell you, but I don’t blame you for not wanting to be involved. I definitely wouldn’t want to be if it was me. But I guess that’s the good thing about being over eighteen is that you don’t have to do anything that you don’t want too. They can’t tell you what to do or shit like that. And hey, if you do get roped into going and you need a wingman, you know where to find me.

Good try, maybe take comedian off of your list of things you want to do though.
Tumblr media
I guess, I'm just so nice. I don't like to be mean and saying that you don't want to be someone's bridesmaid because you think they're a bimbo is probably considered rude. Well, not only has my father decided he will be an active cellphone user, but he's also decided to invite me to his wedding. Brace yourself, but here's the best part— she's 28. Talk about party.
I can think of many better ways to wake you up.
Tumblr media
And my vote, if you want it, is that you don’t have to do a damn thing that you don’t want to. What’s going on?

Worst wake-up call ever, but if someone asks you to be a bridesmaid at their wedding, is there some kind of a exit strategy or do you kinda have to do it?
