     as lazy as yooseung is, he doesn’t take naps in the break room. it’s a waste of time, especially on slow days like today. his head feels like it’s about to split open, though, but he figured it’ll all go away after a power nap. except it didn’t. “leave me alone, mae,”  yooseung groans, “my head hurts.” 

                  with a raised eyebrow, mae stood on the other side of the room. her shoulder leaning on the door frame and arms crossed. “you know, you don’t have to lie to me again, right?” she responded with a sigh. “especially when it’s slow and it’s nearing closing time.”

“no he’s talking to some kid.” avi whispered back at her best friend. it probably looked like she was talking to herself, but she’d been seen doing crazier things in public. she had her eyes trained on mike, who seemed to be arguing with a boy about popcorn. but would that be enough distraction to slip past him into the theatre? “what if we try to slip past, and then if he notices us, i just start talking about pink hair dye or something. i feel like that’s a topic i could ramble about for a while…” she contemplated out loud. “or i could buy a drink, and then start rambling about hair dye… i mean how noticeable are you with that backpack anyway?”

“no, no. if he sees us slipping past and you talk to him, then obviously he’s gonna see me go into the theater without you.” she responded, trying to be logical about it. as easy as mike is to fool, he wasn’t dumb enough to not notice this detail. “hair dye sounds like a good topic... ask him if he’s ever gonna cover those roots.” she chuckled, a hand over her mouth to stop herself from making a noise. mae looked back at her backpack. it wasn’t that big, but on mae’s small body... “it’s not noticeable...” it was. the thing was bright yellow. “okay, listen, we could go with the plan where you go to buy a drink and distract him with whatever you think will work and i’ll sneak in. try to even get him to have his back towards me?”

this was one of the worst shifts to have in mae’s opinion. a rainy day with a completely dead diner, and it was late in the day? if only she could go home right now and do any of the other many hobbies she could be doing at the moment. it was so empty outside the window too, that mae wasn’t expecting anyone to come in. she was alone with the cook in the back ( who definitely would rather not talk to her ), now sitting on a stool by the front bar counter, with a hashbrown and ketchup in front of her, and her phone in her hand. just as she had taken a bite, she heard the front door bell ring, which made her jump a little and look behind her at the door, only to see the last person she was expecting to see walk into the diner. “oh... hi. w-welcome...” an awkward pause. she swallowed her food. “to mal’s diner...”

antique white: if you were to paint a picture of your childhood, what colors would you use? describe your picture.

“instead of colors, i think i should pick an art style. it would be done in the style of fauvism, because although it uses a bunch of bright colors straight from the tubes, fauvism shows the pure emotions of the painter instead of realism on the canvas. it uses colors you wouldn’t see in real life. people can be green, and trees can be pink. anyways, i would paint something that gives the viewer the feeling of loneliness and being lost. bright reds, greens and yellows to paint an empty room, a window, and a lonely girl. think something matisse would paint like this.”
