I know I don't post much on here as it is, but I'm not leaving. I just wanted to post that I have a new blog. While I love magical girls, there's always been something that's the most important to me out of like everything ever, and that's basic human rights. My new blog is @raging-feminism

Do you consider Kill La Kill a magical girl anime?

I've seen a few arguments on whether or not the anime Kill La Kill should be considered a magical girl anime or not, so I wanted to write about my opinion on it. <3

To get it out of the way, I see both sides of this, but personally do consider it a magical girl anime, but I obviously can't control others opinions, which is fine.

I totally see why it wouldn't be considered a magical girl anime, as it was never officially stated to be a magical girl anime, it seems to be more of a battle or like super hero anime, but I'm obsessed with magical girls and I want to include it as one, even though it technicallyyyyy isn't... (I'm gonna continue calling it a magical girl series to my friends who know nothing about it anyway though <3)

I mean look at this transformation omfg!!! </3 Ryukos so cool I love her sm but Makos the silliest billy ever ngl!!!

Okay back to the topic, personally I'm going to consider Kill La Kill a magical girl anime. I understand it's not, but here's my pointless reasoning.

Well first of all, I understand the anime doesn't contain magic, and it's mostly science fiction, but Cutie honey, an anime that is considered a magical girl anime, is mostly science fiction. (Said by @dabritian on tumblr 7 years ago not my take I've never seen Cutie Honey 💀) But with that being said, I don't see why the science fiction thing takes away from Kill La Kill but not Cutie Honey?

Another thing I've seen people bring up is the fact that not all the characters are girls, but in most magical girl anime's, that's still the case. In Kill La Kill the main character, Ryuko, battles Lady Satsuki, and a ton of other people who are with her, which some are guys. But in most magical girl cases, usually aren't only girls, there are men, and overall just a ton of creatures. Most people already understand this so idk what was going on with the few people that said this but I just wanted to bring it up.

But anyways, technicallyyyy, Kill La Kill is not a magical girl anime, but I'm annoying and will personally consider it as one.

But at the end of the day it doesn't matter cuz Mako's a silly goose!!! :3

Possible most hated magical girl anime

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt is a magical girl anime which many people have had a problem with the past couple of years. I'm not really on either side of the argument about this anime, but I would like to talk about it on here. <3 Both sides have great points, and I would really like to share it with you guys. Thanks for the support recently :3 I'll get on w/ it now.

Ever since its come out, I've heard a lot of mixed opinions on PASWG, and I can see why. I watched this anime in early 2020, due to getting A TON of cosplays of these two angel sisters on my tiktok fyp. x3

To get it out of the way, personally I do really like this anime, I think its very funny, the character design is awesome! And overall, its just fun to watch. I understand why so many people have a problem with it though

The first problem I've noticed, was racism.

One of the biggest controversies paswg has had with the magical girl, and overall just anime community, has been their many racist character designs. While this was made in the early 2010's (2012 to be exact), and it is based off of popular adult animation at the time, like South Park, and Family Guy, which also has had some very offensive characters in it, it doesn't really change the fact that the designs we're racist, and very offensive to a lot of viewers.

In PASWG, they used a lot of racist stereotypes against POC for their designs, a lot of people have only recently spoke out about this, and the anime, and fandom, has gotten a lot of backlash.

(When I say recently, I don't mean too recent, I'm kinda late on this subject, but I do still see a lot of people talking about it to this day. When I mainly started seeing people speaking out about this, it was late 2020- early 2021)

While that is obviously a problem for the anime, it's not completely bad, I mean don't get me wrong, the anime isn't the greatest, but personally, I don't think it deserves too much hate.

I think the artwork is incredible, the animation style and just the way everything moves is insanely gorgeous, the colors chosen for every single scene is pure eye candy.

There's loads of references in every episode, it has me so focused on every little thing to find every little easter egg possible its insane. xD Their pet, chuck, himself is an entire reference to Gir from invader zim. I've found a list of every reference in each episode, which I'll link here if you wanna look.

I'm not going to go full in depth of every problem and every plus there is to this anime because loads of people have done that, and I'm just writing this for fun and because it's what I enjoy. There's loads of other blogs and articles on paswg, which if this was of any interest to you, I advise looking into it <333

PASWG is a super cool, but pretty strange anime, and if you've got the time and wanna check it out yourself, theres only 14 episodes, so you totally should and let me know your opinion on paswg! <3 (And I'd love to hear urs if you've already watched it!! :-))

Mami Tomoe appreciation post <333 (PMMM SPOILERS AHEAD!!!)

(Btwbtw, gifs r like my new fav thing now, especially magical girl ones XD, so I'm gonna be using a ton now <3)

Around 3 months ago, I made my dad watch puella magi madoka magica with me. Personally, I absolutely adore all the main 5 girls!! <33 I love them all to death and my favorite changes like every other day XD (I think its Kyouko right now but idkkkkk omg I love them all sm <3333)

Anyway, the ENTIRE time we watched the first three episodes my dad just kept going on and on and on about how annoying Mami is, and like, normally I don't care if people hate on characters I love, but this is my dad, so I cared very much. :,3 I kept going on and on about how much I loved Mami and my dad kept mocking me </33

When it had gotten to her death my dad kept cheering and clapping :,(

Are there any other teenagers that watch tokyo mew mew? 0_0

Tokyo Mew Mew is one of my favorite animes ever!! It's so cute, it can be really funny or really sad, its super interesting and I adore it!!! Every tokyo mew mew fan I've ever talked too is either between 7-10, which is normal considering its a kids show, or like 20-30, which is also normal considering this show was a ton of peoples childhoods. It was mine too! But not in most ways, most people watched this as a kid cuz its what was on TV, I watched it on my moms phone when I was younger XDD But yeah, Tokyo Mew Mew is great and I'd really like to meet some people my age who also enjoy it! But for now, I'll just talk to old people on the internet who watched this when they were twelve. <3

Tokyo Mew Mew is an anime and manga series created by Reiko Yoshida and Illustrated by Mia Ikumi, both extremely talented people!! Tokyo Mew Mew is my favorite manga series ever, it was written wonderfully, its so funny and interesting and I'm never bored reading it! I've mentioned to almost everyone I know how much I love the art in the manga! Its adorable!!! My favorite art style ever!

Now, what its actually about is this middle school girl, 12-14 years old, becomes injected with the DNA of the endangered Iriomote Cat, she's brought to a cafe and told that not only does she have to work there now, she's also become a magical mew mew girl, and she has to find the other 4 mew mews by looking for these marks on their bodies. At first Ichigo doesn't know how shes going to do this, but in reality its super easy cuz these 5 girls are the only people in the anime with dyed hair and originality XD Literally everyone else is so boring dude </3 Anyway, Ichigo has like a billion love interests in this anime but everyone (me) knows shes a pansexual queen and dating Mew Mint <3 (haha silly everyone loves my headcannons)

Hey! Its been a while 0_0

I had a lot going on when I started this blog, idk why I thought I could keep it up. But now I'm hoping to make a come back.

Anyway, this magical girl is Calamity Mary from the series Magical Girl Raising Project, there are 12 episodes of the anime and I believe 15 manga volumes? Correct me if I'm wrong! :3 I bought the first manga volume during the summer at my local comic book shop, but then I had a ton of renovations done to my room and had to store all my stuff in the attic for a while, so i never got around to reading it until last week! Its a pretty easy read, took me about 45 minutes, and it was super interesting! I plan on buying the next two volumes very soon!! I believe before the manga there was a novel series, I'd love to check that out too! So far Calamity Mary is my favorite, but that'll probably change!

I'm going to show you crunchyroll's description of the anime, and then I'll talk about what happens in the manga, I'll try my best to give as little spoilers as possible, hopefully none at all!!!, but I'm not very good at that, so I apologize in advance. Anyway, crunchyroll's description:

"Magical Girl Raising Project is a popular social game that has an ability to grant players a 1 in 10,000 chance to become a real life Magical Girl with unique magical abilities to help people. However, at some point, Fav, the magical administrator fairy, decides to cut the population of Magical Girls in half. The game quickly changes into a twisted, wicked battlefield as the 16 magical girls get dragged into a battle for survival against each other."

So yeah! The animes pretty much the same as what I read. Here's how I'll describe it.

Magical Girl Raising Project is a very popular mobile game, its wonderfully made and its free! Anybody can play! But theres a rumor going around, a rumor that random players have been selected to become real life magical girls. And that rumor is true. 16 people have become magical girls, but fav has decided that's too many. Every magical girl has to collect magical candy, whoever has the least candy by the end of the week is eliminated... and dead! :3 Nobody here wants to lose their life! So, some magical girls have to take matters into their own hands...

dun dun dunnnn!!! But yeah, its super duper good so far!! I'm gonna watch the anime over april break. :D

As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been very inactive and I am so so sorry. Just a few days after I started my magical girl topic tumble page my laptop, which I made my posts on, broke, I have no idea what happened but it simply will not charge, will not turn on, will not reset, nothing. I've mentioned before that my favorite magical girl anime is Tokyo mew mew, but I don't think I've shown my favorite character from Tokyo Mew Mew! xP

This is Pudding Fong, or Mew Pudding! :3

In Tokyo Mew Mew all 5 magical girls, or mew mews, are infused with the DNA of endangered species. Mew Pudding has the DNA of a Golden Lion Tamarin! >:D They're super cute animals and fit Puddings personality perfectly! Pudding's a super sweet and energetic character and I don't see many people with her as their favorite. </3

I also really really like Kisshu, but this post is about Pudding! <3

I might start blogging about my favorite magical girl series villains too! :0 I've always really liked villain characters growing up, and still do! :3 But the superheroes always solo them. <33

This lovely girl is Miyuki Hoshizora//Cure Happy, the main protagonist in the anime series Smile Precure! >3< <3 (Great series I'll get more into that later! :3)

A lot of people think her name is Emily//Glitter Lucky due to Netflix taking the series, making an English dub, but changing the name of the series, and all of the characters names! :( I've been told they also removed Japanese culture from the animation, but I'm not able to confirm this, I've watched both Smile Precure and Glitter Force, but I watched Smile Precure a while back, and it was at my uncles ex's house so I don't know where I'm able to rewatch it </3

I've been trying to find somewhere SAFE to watch this series for my friend for a while now that we both have access too. xD

Definitely recommend this series to anybody thats able to watch it, but I can't find any platforms that still stream the sub.

My personal favorite magical girl of all time is Kyouko Sakura from the anime series Puella Magi Madoka Magica! x3 She's sick and nobodys as cool as her!! >:DD I love her shes super cool and relatable and ever since I watched this anime she's been one of my favorite anime characters evrrr!! >w<

Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a 12 episode series about middle school girls who have the chance to make a contract with a creature named Kyubey, if they make this contract they must become a magical girl and fight witches, in exchange for any wish in the world! Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a great series, I cried almost every episode. </3 If you enjoy magical girl anime and haven't watched this yet I 1000% recommend it! ^3^ <3
