i liked your rant, and i also agree with you. it’s funny because western astrology still follows the signs in an inaccurate way. but in vedic, the entire chart moves backwards by 24 degrees or so. which takes the ever expanding universe into account more so that western astrology does.

in fact, you’ll find most astrologers break this inconsistency down by saying western astrology fits your overall personality and vedic astrology is more predictive and shows how your life plays out. this was huge for me, a fellow intj btw, because the logical inconsistencies of house systems and different western methods just pissed me off. it’s definitely a turn off about astrology so i just have to make sense of it myself, for myself.

i moved onto mbti because while they’re both a pseudoscience, mbti/enneagram have more ties to psychology and are much easier for my intj/te prone brain. after i read your rant and peeped the intj, i immediately thought how you broke it down fit an ni user to a t.

to finish off and stop bothering you, i completely agree with normalizing hating on something and being able to rant about it in a knowledgeable way. god forbid we spew crap when defending a point. doesn’t mean we have to secretly like it.

You're so right about the inconsistencies and flaws

But since we are taking about Vedic astrology in specific I thought I'd delve into this

Within Vedic astrology, there are two forms, one is the older version which was passed down by tounge and the other "corrected" version

The difference between the two mainly arises from the different calendars followed, while they are mostly same, they have an error of about 2-3 degrees. The corrected version was made by a saint called Lahari and is the one that's widely used for predictive astrology. When I researched upon this, I found that the "corrected" version was actually wrong and the original was better.

But this isn't in support of Vedic astrology because I think it has its own flaws because it doesn't consider the outer planets, the degrees of the aspects, comets, etc.

And thankyouu, it's so cool to be complimented by an Intj. I tried to get deep into mbti and enneagrams but I couldn't because of the inconsistencies there too but, if I start on that, it's gonna be a whole other rant so I'm gonna finish off now.

You just described Vedic astrology. Or sidereal.

Still astrology... 🙄 a system of knowledge that dates back over 4,000 years to ancient Babylon, Egypt, India, and China.

But I don't believe in Vedic astrology either. Again, that has its own flaws:

It doesn't considering the outer planets, (i.e., Uranus, Neptune and Pluto)

And all aspects are simply divided into positive or negative aspects without actually considering it's specifics. (Like squares and oppositions are both considered negative aspects but they show in different ways.)

Comets (like chiron, vesta, Lilith, etc.) are generally not taken into account in sidereal astrology

And some sidereal use the whole house system..

I just need things to have a logical reasoning.

While, I suppose some of astrology could be considered real by taking quantum entanglement into account but it's mathematically wrong.

Can we normalise knowing things about something you hate? Because I like to do my research before I decide to hate something.

I was talking about something I hate and everyone accused me of actually liking it/ believing in it.

Disclamer: this post is not meant to offend anyone's beliefs, this is my personal opinion

So, I personally don't believe in astrology because, mathematically speaking, it's wrong.

For example, someone born in the second half of November or first half of of December is considered a sagittarius, i.e., the sun is in the sagittarius constellation.

Now this was mathematically calculated, atleast around a 1000 years ago, but since the universe is ever expanding, planets moved farther from each other. Everything from then, has actually shifted 30 degrees backwards in the sky (taking longer time than what was calculated a 1000 years ago).

(also, the sky is dived into 12 parts for 12 months and 12 zodiacs. The sky is considered a circle, which is 360 degrees. Since the sky is divided into 12,i.e., 360/12, each zodiac constellation occupies 30 degrees in the sky.)

So during the second half of November and the first half of December, the sun is actually in scorpio, which makes everyone born in that time period scorpions.

I was explaining the same concept to my friends to make them understand why I don't like astrology and they accused me of actually believing in it. (Not that there is anything wrong with iit, please don't come at me, it's just a personal opinion.)

So yeah, idek, I just needed to rant about this.

I’m not gonna sugarcoat and water down what punk is so I do my thing and show my teacher. This bitch goes “yeah that’s not very appropriate for school.
