I could NEVER be one of those ppl complaining about the classic undertale characters being “irrelevant” in deltarune. I find the way deltarune highlights each of their flaws through their much more mundane lives so fascinating
#look if Alphys were a shy nerdy boy she’d have leagues of adoring fans#she’s so good though. she’s so interesting and like with Toriel I like seeing her be flawed in a mundane setting#you know how Susie has the line about how if you never let your guard down you might hurt somebody you care about#and ralsei has the line about how he’s learning you can’t just be nice all the time and try to get along with everyone#I think Alphys has elements of both those ideas in microcosm#ie she’s willing to believe everything people think about Susie and that makes Alphys another authority figure who’s overlooked#Susie’s needs as a child Alphys is partially responsible towards#both not letting her guard down and trying not to rock the boat#this might be a stretch but I feel like Deltarune is a huge web of non-malicious failures in relationships so#it fits
