STOP THE EXECUTIONS - Mohammad Mehdi Karami
LET’S DO ALL WE CAN TO SPREAD HIS NAME AND TRY TO SAVE HIS LIFE
On 5 December, a Revolutionary Court in Alborz province sentenced Mohammad Mehdi Karami to death after convicting him of “corruption on earth” in connection with the fatal assault of a Basij agent during protests in Karaj, Alborz. The court convicted him less than a week after the beginning of a fast-tracked sham group trial which bore no resemblance to meaningful judicial proceedings. In this group trial, four others were also sentenced to death. Before the group trial had started, state media aired his and other defendants’ forced “confessions” and described them as “murderers”, in breach of their rights to presumption of innocence and freedom from torture and other cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment. Mohammad was tortured and all these confessions are nothing more than lies.
SAVE MOHAMMAD.

SAY HIS NAME - AKBAR GHAFARI
This is Akbar Ghafari, who, under duress signed a paper confessing to the murder of an Islamic Republic guard. Akbar is illiterate. He was tortured into falsely confession and he is now charged with “corruption on earth”.
He was arrested in Fallah and his crime was leaving his house open and sheltering several protesters. The Islamic Republic arrested him at night and claimed that he had killed an officer. He was kept in solitary confinement for about a month. Recently, he was transferred to the Zanzan of Great Tehran.
Akbar is illiterate. The Islamic Republic wrote his confession and tortured him until he signed it.
Akbar’s only crime was to care about his people and to save them from being arrested and killed by the Islamic Republic. He is now facing imminent threat of execution, because “corruption on earth” carries the death penalty.
Be his voice! He was brave and tried to save his people. It’s now on us to save him from execution.

AMAZING NEWS!!!
At its 35th special session, the UN Human Rights Council voted to create a new fact-finding mission to investigate human rights violations in the Islamic Republic of Iran related to the protests that began on 16 September 2022.
Proof that our activism has worked. Let’s keep the pressure on and hold the Islamic Republic accountable for crimes against humanity.

Mehrdad Emadi, an economic advisor for the European Union, added: “Cheddite is legally responsible, whether Iran bought the products directly or from a third party. Cheddite must vet its buyers and ensure that they do not resell the products to terrorist organisations or to countries that are banned under EU rules, as its products are not dual-use, but are designed to injure or kill.”

Just a few sad reminders.
Out of 14000 prisoners in Iran only 3000 of them are identified.
They are giving prisoners 10 minutes trials before sending them to the death row.
People who were released are all in a bad mental and physical state, Yalda Aghafazli took her life shortly after being released from 11 days of detention.
And I hate to remind people both women and men are being raped and tortured.
Some people are missing... after the 2019 protests bodies of those who went "missing" were found in rivers and lakes some were never found.
Now I hope y'all stop saying America is trying to make the Islamic republic look 'bad' because they are already the worst. Like why are you making excuses for the regime? Why are you defending them?Wtf guys?

(Rape tw) Any thoughts or context on the "Iran voting to execute all protestors (~14000) and rape virgins beforehand" thing? In the interest of not fearmongering without understanding but not ignoring tragedy? From news I read they definitely actually voted (like 227 out of 290) for the execution part, currently 1 person actually scheduled for execution and some more charged with crimes where the penalty is such. Is this likely to happen, or just a threat? I read some of the officials involved have been sanctioned by other countries but don't know if that means they would actually get involved to stop this.
The Iranian government is not going to execute 15,000 prisoners, and the US media has done an extremely bad job of covering this story.
Roughly 15,000 Iranian protestors have been arrested. As far as we know, only one protestor has been executed so far. While the Iranian government executes many prisoners, there are no currently-known plans to execute more protesters.
227 members of Iran's parliament signed a letter calling for a harsh approach when sentencing these protestors. At no point does this letter explicitly call for the death penalty, though it is arguably implied in the letter that they would support it in some cases. You can read excerpts of the letter from Iranian state media here.
A letter from the Iranian legislature does not determine how the protestors will be sentenced; the judiciary handles sentencing. The letter was intended to send the judiciary a message that the legislature would like to see harsh punishments, but this is not in any way legally binding. This is intended as a threat against protestors to discourage them from further protests.
These facts were twisted into a story that "15,000 Face Execution" by Newsweek, which in recent years has been turned into a right-wing tabloid.
There is no question that the Iranian government is authoritarian, has a very low tolerance for dissent, and has had a shameful response to recent protests. But if you ever see a story in the US press claiming that an "enemy government" is going to do something so extreme that it is hard to imagine, then it is likely false, and at a minimum deserves closer scrutiny.
