in celebration of the new pope let's take a moment to remember that "pope slaying" is included on the long list of cersei lannister's crimes
#cersei lannister#a song of ice and fire#valyrianscrolls#this reminds me of the theory where Cersei does kill jon arryn but she just doesn’t remember for some reason

Queen Cersei Lannister

absolutely never would have anticipated how many times i’d end up drawing cersei when I first started asoiaf but over time she has cemented herself as one of my favorite characters…
i’m forever revisiting my own designs, so here’s a second attempt at Cersei’s ruby mourning dress and a first attempt at her in her hunting greens when she goes to meet with Ned. I think hunting greens implies menswear, but I’m not certain and I could be misinterpreting…? either way I think it is more reasonable for trying to be stealthy so that’s the route I took…

do u ever think about how brienne grew up in a house of grief. like mum dead brothers dead sisters dead just brienne and her dad left and they don't talk about their feelings. she doesn't know the easy intimacy of friendship, family, anything, yet she wants it SO bad and she has so much to give

The cool thing ab asoiaf is that it really makes you question your morality. Why is it okay for me to like jaime lannister, child disabler and twin sister fucker but its okay for me to condemn another fan for liking daemon targaryen? Sure I don't fw daemon because he likes his 14 yr old niece, but I like the hound (say whatever you want ab this take) I believe he desired sansa, a 12 year old girl, in a romantic AND sexual way. Does that make me a monster? What does that say about me? I know all of this is wrong but can I judge these characters when they're society and moral standard is completely different to mine own in the real world? Yes and no, they're not real I can't judge them as though they are real people but the society I grew up in informed me of what's right and wrong and i know sexual assault, violence, and the like are WRONG. But back to the other question that poses: does that give me the right to judge another fan for enjoying an extremely complex but downright evil character? No!!!! I HATE most of the men in asoiaf because they're bad fucking people but I'm not gonna pretend like I don't find them interesting and I think most of the violence in asoiaf is in service of a point. Obviously if these characters were just rapists, murderers, and thieves because that was what grrm got his jimmies off to I wouldn't have even attempted watching got, i wouldnt be a fan right now. I love ALL of the lannister siblings because they're sick and twisted they would've been boring without any of the making me question myself, as I'm sure would be the same with a lot of these characters. So tldr asoiaf (hotdtwt) fans need to stfu and stopping playing the moral high ground police. all of your favs are probably related by incest somehow or have participated in incest.

brienne deserved so much better than her show portrayal, which seems to misunderstand that bri is not interesting simply because she’s a female knight, or because of her appearance, or the cruel things she has suffered as a result of both of these, it is the fact that despite all of these things she is still gentle and idealistic and kindhearted and romantic. brienne reconciles traits that are considered to be antithetical in westerosi society. she does not have to be a beautiful maid to dream of love and enchantment, and she can dream of these things whilst also being an incredibly capable knight. she’s open minded and defies expectations; she does not have to adhere to a strictly ‘masculine’ way of thinking in order to be strong. and then the show had her insult jaime by saying he was ‘acting like a woman’

Nothing annoys me more than when people say Jaime and Brienne are “so pure” that their relationship would be ruined by sex.
Like, what planet are you on? They’re not pure, they’re utter filth.
They try to have a sword fight, but end up having a metaphorical sex scene that is all swords kissing, forwards backwards, blood on thigh, straddling.
Jaime tells Brienne his great secret and she’s like *he looked so hot in that bath, couldn’t tell you a word he said but he looked smoking*.
Jaime goes within four feet of some slightly tepid water and he’s like *do you remember Brienne naked in that bath? Cos I sure do!*
They both try to think about normal things and then *unbidden* they’re both thinking about each other in conjunction with sex and babiez.
Like, where is the purity?
