Hi, I was going to change the request I had asked for about a StarBee NSFW art. Now I would like to change the request, I would like a drawing of Bumblebee (TF Cyberverse) chatting with Shin/Supreme Kai (Dragon Ball Z) who is sitting on his shoulder while they meet and interact

(I hope the request can be changed, since I will respect your opinion about StarBee not being to your liking, since I have no problem with which ship you like or not, I still respect your tastes.)

I just forgot to mention that in Dragon Ball Daima Shin is called Nahare but you can still tag him as Shin or Supreme Kai xd

In Defense of the Supreme Kai

The Supreme Kai gets a lot of hate in the DBZ fandom. Hell, not even “hate” but dispassionate indifference. He’s “weak,” “cowardly,” and “stupid.” And I just wanted to take a brief moment to cover some reasons why the Supreme Kai should garner more of your respect.

Let’s tackle first the claim that he is weak. The Supreme Kai stated himself that he and his former peers were 1000x stronger than Frieza. In the original Japanese, he makes the claim more vague saying that any of the Kais could have beaten Frieza with a single blow. And obviously he was strong enough to intimidate Piccolo out of fighting him. Of course, I do agree that Piccolo was being cautious because he didn’t want to fight what he suspected was the Grand Kai out of deference and respect. People claim that it is because he (Kami) was the protector of Earth. But at the introduction of the Supreme Kai, it was Dende who was the guardian of Earth - Piccolo was no longer a part of the pecking order. Even besides all of that, Piccolo was given express PERMISSION to fight the Supreme Kai and yet still refused. Add to this that the Supreme Kai possessed enough strength to hold Gohan still while Super Sayain 2 should be testament enough to his power. Gohan was actively struggling, and could not break free.

When people claim that the Supreme Kai is a coward, it infuriates me. His depiction in the manga and anime is played up for laughs in a fish-out-of-water type scenario, and this is unfortunately interpreted badly by fans of the show. If the Supreme Kai is guilty of anything, it is being woefully uninformed and ignorant about the goings on with Earth.

Take his suggestion to fight Pui Pui together instead of 1 on 1. Fans scoff at this suggestions because Pui Pui is obviously incredibly impotent. But you forget that the Supreme Kai was anticipating fighting alongside Earthlings. His suggestion to fight together is an example of his innate desire to keep his subjects safe. If they all fight together, it would give him a greater chance to keep these people safe from harm. Afterwards, he is stunned by how powerful the sayains actually are, and hasn’t had time to measure their ability and come up with a better strategy. The whole beginning of the Buu Saga, the Supreme Kai believes (incorrectly) that he’s the most powerful warrior on the planet, and he wants to ensure the survival of the innocent bystanders. He’s caught flat footed when he finds out that they are leagues stronger than he anticipated, and even stronger than he is.

Let’s not forget that Buu utterly destroyed Dabora and Gohan with relative ease. In a few guys, Gohan as a Super Sayain 2 was down for the count. Yet, when the Supreme Kai fought Buu, he kept getting up and fighting his hardest, despite the knowledge that he would lose. Add on top of that the fact that the Supreme Kai literally watched Buu kill his friends in the past, probably traumatized by their violent passing. But when Buu returns and threatens him, the Supreme Kai stands his ground and fights. And you honestly want to tell me that he’s a coward for doing that? Really?!

The Supreme Kai is simply another victim of “DBZ Syndrome” in which the series focuses on one or two characters and everyone else is useless besides them. Forced into the background, played off of for laughs, and written poorly with his astonishing ignorance, the Supreme Kai is unjustly sneered upon. He deserves more respect, and I hope I have convinced you of that.
