"So why then is the little doppelganger still alive? She vexes you. She is of benefit to my brother, but not in a way you or I have been able to effectively utilize." He spoke casually, as if about the weather, but there was an edge to his tone that belied a storm brewing.

With a delighted hum and a matching grin, Katherine obtained the satchel from him and filled it with the grain. Shortly after her triumph over the transportation issue, she retook the crook of Damons arm with a genuine smile.

"Then we shan't keep them waiting long." The vampire hummed.

It was a short walk to the Salvatore property pond and an even shorter search for the ducklings. They were plenty. At least four families swimming around the moderately sized body of water.

For a big bad vampire, the way her eyes lit up with excitement seemed almost... human of her.

"There's more than I had imagined!" she beamed. "Look at them, are they not simply heart warming?"

Damon’s gaze lingered on her longer than it should have, caught somewhere between the teasing lift of her brow and the way her words settled like warmth in his chest. Her praise, light as it was, had his lips parting in a crooked smile, half proud, half utterly undone by how easily she could make him feel like the only man in the world. “Classically handsome, huh?” He murmured with a tilt of his head, his tone teasing, but there was a flicker of something more earnest behind it. 

As they neared the stable, her excitement at something as small as feeding ducklings brought a quiet smile to his face. He stepped ahead slightly, glancing around before grabbing a small cloth satchel from a nearby hook and giving it a little shake. “Will this suffice?” He asked, turning back toward her with a mock bow and a grin. “Small enough to carry, large enough for our… noble quest.”

He offered it out to her with a raised brow, eyes dancing. “Lead the way. The ducklings await.”

Damon's hands gripped her like she were the only thing personally sustaining his life in this moment.

The way he looked at her, you could see the thirst, the hunger in every fiber of his being. You could hear the craving on the tip of his tongue as his voice slid through it.

Katherine reached up to grab his jaw, her thumb sliding along his bottom lip before it pressed into his mouth. Once past his teeth she hooked it, grabbing him firmly, dominantly with a smirk. It was rough and possessive.

"You know what Damon?" She hummed. "I think I will."

The vampire released her grip on him almost dismissively in favour of repositioning herself on him. Her knees on either side of his head as she hovered over his face.

"Say please." The doppelganger commanded.

 He felt it in the weight of her stare, the way her hips hovered just out of reach, the slight curl of her lip like she already knew how far she could stretch him before he broke.

Her words dragged a low laugh from him, full of dark amusement and something more dangerous humming beneath. His hands slid up her thighs, thumbs pressing into the meat of them as his eyes dragged over her like a man dying of thirst.

 “If your throne’s been vacant too long…” His fingers traced slow, upward, resting at her hips with a grip that bordered on desperate restraint. “Why don’t you use this moment to reclaim it?” His tongue ran over his bottom lip as he glanced down, then up—  deliberate, filthy, and entirely hers.

he's thrown off at first, which isn't entirely uncommon when it came to the vampire and receiving affection in general. while so passionate and fierce in her gesture, there was still something about it that screamed love and wanting. the genuine kind. the kind that made him believe that she'd stay once they pulled away and that things might, for once, actually work out between them. he could live in that feeling forever, and he was sure katherine felt the same.

it wasn't long before he melted into her. strong hands gripped at her hips, pulling her in closer and closer until there was no space left between them. just them. just everything they felt. finally. and once he gave in to it, once he let himself love and claim her back, stefan did indeed become breathless. her mission had been accomplished.
