Best/Worst

My best this week is from a show that I am obsessed with that made headlines this Thursday with an episode of Scandal depicting real life and what is going on in the 2016 Presidential election. Of course with a twist bringing #Blacklivesmatter into the episode. The episode also shows a Trump & Clinton like candidates and I think if more people actually watched this show they can see this election as the joke that it is because Shonda Rhimes did a great job of showing it. The episode shows a Trump alike doing and saying the most outrageous things and being as ignorant as Trump himself, However in the episode there is a candidate who is black and his advisers don’i want him to speak on the fact that he is black and he goes on to speak about it and how black lives do matter. Im sorry i cant find a clip to put here but I will show in class via hulu. 

My worst this week is Trump because nothing good ever happens when Trump is in the picture literally. On Cinco de Mayo Trump decided to get a taco bowl at the Trump Tower. One lets start with the fact that with everything he has said about building a wall to block immigrants and giving up on Puerto Rico. To actually sit there and eat a Taco Bowl and say the best ones are made in your tower? How would you know? Not to mention your trying to get the Hispanic vote back by saying that your WHITE head chef made you a great meal. Then you caption it I Love Hispanics no you don’t! and back to what Shonda does in her episode he does this to on his campaign and lets be real for a second that episode was filmed months ago and the accuracy is still there. Trump is disgusting and the fact that he is where he is now makes me sick to my stomach.

Fast Fraudulent Fashion

Digital technology is taking over the world, everyday we check our social media accounts, emails and direct messages. The internet has somewhat become a place like the television being flashed ads all the time, with an exception that now it can be personalized to you and based on your web searches. I always am shopping online being as busy as I am, so I get flashed ads all day on facebook and instagram and other outlets mostly about clothes. 

My problem ls now that all these wonderful sites for cheap cute clothing has popped up in my life and I would love to give them all money but then the reviews started popping up on how cheap and useless these pieces of clothing actually are. This will begin to change the innovation of fashion and where I saw it going which was 3D printing your orders to now wanting to go shop in person because these clothes aren’t what we expected. 

Especially because we are now waiting 2-8 weeks for these items to show up and then not being satisfied.  

Fashion should be made affordable it should be for everyone. Fashion is a form of freedom of expression and everyone deserves the right to express themselves. 

If this doesn’t encourage you to bypass the articles you see online here is something that might. Just like everything on this earth labor is needed to produce a piece of clothing. When you purchase a dress for $7.99 think about how much the person who put the piece together is being paid for their hard work, Think about what there work area must look like or what there home looks like, how are they supporting their families. 

These pieces don’t look good and if people stop shopping with them and send out the message that we don’t want them the quality will increase, so will the price and hopefully the wages of the family currently working for these companies producing cheap clothes

Best / Worse Week 3

Beyoncé ended up selling boycott Beyoncé gear at the opening show of the formation tour. A lot of people aren't agreeing with beyonce speaking out against police brutality and wanting everyone to unite because of the times America is in. I believe that this is great she gets back at the people trying so very hard to bring her down and she keeps making a ton of money for herself and her cause. This video is a Oklahoma court ruled that oral sex is not rape if the person isn't coherent and responsive. I believe the world that we live in is becoming disgusting and unbelievable the fact that people aren't being protected under the laws isn't right it seems the constitution of the United States is becoming a joke. I agree with Beyoncé and I agree with everyone who speaks up against the government and the brutality going on against the everyday people. In all reality there are more normal everyday people then government and our say should count more than anyone else's. We need to unite and make sure our government doesn't become a society like North Korea.

Best/Worse Social Media

Best: Schools are helping police spy on kids’ social media activity

Schools are now beginning to spy on social media accounts via a new system called Snaptrends. A system that cost about 18,000 a year to subscribe to, this system allows them to enter in words that can relate to cyber-bulling, of suicide thoughts and tendencies. The system ended up leading to 12 investigations this past year. One in which it picked up a student with two facebook accounts one happy and one sad, it picked up “cutting” and “no one will miss me” the school was able to contact social services and she is now getting help. Now of course it will cause controversy because of the whole spying situation on social media and “big brother” but if everyone else is accessing your information for studies and for advertising situations then I believe doing it for cause such as safety especially in light of the 16 year old girl who was beaten to death in a bathroom over a boy, As someone who suffers from bipolar depression and post memes sometimes people wont even think twice about i think its a helpful tool and it can prevent a lot of issues in middle school and high schools even some colleges. 

Worse:  Top 5 social media scams to avoid

For my worse i want to shine a light on something one of my friends fell victim to. Ever been on Facebook or Twitter and passed a post that reads “Want to make 10,000 a week from your sofa. My friend did this and his next paycheck was taken from his bank account before he could even check his account. The fact that there is even an article warning you about different scams online. There’s no end to what will happen on social media. This is causing dangerous hacking situations, and causing a lot of fraud on bank accounts. This article is short and tells you to look out for it, but I feel Facebook, Twitter and other social media accounts should put more time into finding these scams and taking them off there websites because people do put trust into Facebook and Twitter.

2016 Social Media Candidates

Hillary Clinton

 Hillary Clintons team is using social media in the most basic of ways just posting basically what she says in her debates and speeches she isn’t really branching out. I feel it seems very professional and watched almost so perfect that it seems very fake and unreal. You have to seem real like Obama when he was running posting his family and still being normal and not seeming so practiced all the time. One thing I also feel Hillary should work on is the fact that her Twitter and her Facebook is two different accounts she is constantly posting the same exact things. Hillary is mostly posting about her views and tag lines with some facts, but also posting about events such as the earthquake in Ecuador and gun violence, trying to appeal to the families using a bunch of pathos. A lot of her post are original with the occasional repost of retweet but like I said how original is it if she keeps posting the same content to both accounts. She also posts a lot of clips from debates which I feel isn’t effective if the people are with you then they are with you, they are watching they are listening, repeating yourself isn’t always the best thing you can do. I think she needs to lighten up her post and be more open to the new generations and stop appealing to the older generations, because if she did win which I doubt then she will not be reelected.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump was my most interested to see on social media because there are so many memes and different videos making fun of Trump and his stance on his different topics. Trumps Twitter was a joy to visit he in my opinion is RIDICULOUS he uses social media like a 15-year-old girl in high school. Throws direct shade at people, however that’s why so many people are paying attention and talking about him, this is why he trends on Facebook at times. He says his views and where he stands in debates and rally’s and then on social media he pokes fun at his opponents. However, the only thing I don’t appreciate is once again they are posting the same content on two different pages with a couple hours’ worth of a time difference. While scrolling on both Facebook and Twitter doesn’t seem he reposts other content but that’s because if Trump is one thing it is that he is original.

Bernie Sanders

Bernie Sanders is one candidate whose team is posting different content on each social media site, posting more articles and longer content on Facebook where people would actually read that kind of content and posting pictures and small statuses to his twitter account which is how it should be on social media sights such as twitter. Bernie does take content from some news sources but also does something no other candidate did and he shows his supports support right back thanking them for coming out and thanking the 28,000 people who showed up in NYC. He takes a bit from everyone and he throws some shade at other candidates and he shows support to other news in the media.

Ted Cruz

Ted Cruz posted a lot from other sources such as media and other pages that throw shade shut as the post about #TrumperTantrum bibs and onesies for babies. He reports from news anchors and all those random pages we all follow because it makes us laugh, or tells us some “news” before its even confirmed as actual news. He does post the same things on both sites which I mean okay they need to get the word out but do it in different ways. They need to learn that the people who would actually look at their pages is the next generations they are appealing to their age group. All the candidates need to become more personal on social media it’s what it is made for and that’s what people do.

In fact this is what started Apple in his parents garage with an order for 50 computers and the buyer being upset for wanting full computers and Steve sold him the idea of using his already in stock keyboards, mouses and monitors that the owner already in stock. What amazes me about this is that till today this Apple product still works ! 

The new media issue presented in the Jobs movie is that to create something amazing and different you need to be bold, brave and believe. I think jobs idea of not looking at what the competition is doing and how they are doing it and just do it different and don’t release a product if you aren’t happy with the product. One of the problems in the movie was that Jobs began missing his release dates telling everyone to hold on. Though this made people back out of their stocks when a product was released it was flawless. I believe with other companies such as Samsung, HP and other media outlets no one besides Microsoft really competes with Apple. My new media issue with Apple as a company is I feel that now they are playing it safe such as with their new Iphone SE , ever since Jobs past I feel they are scared to take the necessary steps to keep revolutiionizing the game. This Iphone SE is an Iphone 4 why did they go back to thick small phones? 

The movie I believe tries to set a tone for taking risk and trying new things. Throughout the movie they keep telling Steve that he doesn’t understand what people use computers for that he was doing more than needed. However Jobs wanted people to look at computers differently he wanted it more personalized more innovative so people can see the possibilities. I believe the movie shines a light also on advertising and marketing of your product if not done right he knows it can make or break a product. Take a look at the Macintosh commercial from 1984 and take a look at a 2015 Macbook commercial with these commercials its all about the product there isn’t any graphics people or anything to distract you from the product itself. It does a great job of grabbing your attention. I believe that companies need to focus less on looks and more on functionality so they can advertise the features and speed more than the waterproof aspect or anything else such as Microsoft Surface commercial. 

The things I loved about this movie is that they showed light into someone everyone thought was crazy but was actually a genius. They showed the gift to never give up on yourself and to believe in yourself which is how I feel I won't give up in the fashion world it's my passion it's what I love to do and if someone were to take that away I will fight back. During the film Apple changes the board of directors the old team gave up when things got a little hard and stocks began to drop a bunch. This is because it wasn't their child Apple was and is Steve Jobs baby so the fight was in him. When they asked Steve to leave his advisor role to take on a more serious role with Apple he demanded being CEO of the company once the board voted him in he bought the board of directors out of their contracts and seats. He made sure no one was going to take his dream away anymore. Then he went on to take Apple to new levels with the IPod coming out. He also decided that you should know everything about the product and thus the apple website became what it is today explain every feature and even how the design came to be. Innovating the idea of what headphones should be. The introduction into apps and smartphones. No other company has redefined technology as well as Apple has. My favorite part of this movie is when they show Steve go back to the garage where it all began and crying because he felt he would never have Apple back instead of giving up though he went on to create Next and it became a big competitor for Apple. Another part is when Steve tells the team members to create anything, anything at all which is still a program Apple has they allow people to create anything and everything one to test their loyalty and make sure they don't say much and to see what these people can create if they can change the game all over again. I loved and enjoyed most of this movie but some things I didn't like is that it started really detailed and showing the obstacles jobs went through. However when the company began to fail they didn't show much of what was going on with Apple they simply state that IBM was ahead of the game. It felt the end of the movie was rushed when they should have went into the birth of the iPod and looking more into that the iPod was the birth of MP3 players and the idea of the most memory in the smallest of devices which began the idea of phones coming with 250gb when they had KB and GB. Apple begins all the revolutionary items such as the Apple Watch though Samsung released their watch before Apple Watch was a prototype before they had announced Samsung gear. I believe they should had kept the movie going on for another hour at least to show how these ideas are coming to be and to show Steve asking for the products to do more to be more. Apple will always be a company I look up to because they innovated and they began the idea of doing more and making the products smaller and better. I don't think any company will be able to change the game in any other ways. They began the idea of mass media at your fingertips. I believe that as Apple continues they will begin hologram phone calls everyone expects apple to do things in the best way. Almost everyday their are videos of people claiming what iPhone 7 will be able to do things like expanding screens, all wireless phones meaning no chargers and no headphone jacks. There is never fake prototype videos of what Microsoft or HP or Windows will release next only Apple. Apple sets the tone for what is next and what new media will look like. Most of the times all these devices get the same apps but Apple either has them first or gets the updates first. An example includes Instagram a lot of people aren't aware that Instagram wasn't an app for all devices it was released to Apple about a year or two before it became an app for android users. Even the idea of all touch items came from Apple or the idea of a tablet. I expect for Apple to live up to its name and to keep Steve Jobs alive in each project they release in the idea of pushing everything to its limit and making it capable of the "impossible" Apple is one of the biggest definitions of New Media.

“Business Is My Passion,Fashion Is My Edge”

Dear Giuliano Federico,

             “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak” Rachel Zoe. They say don’t judge a book by its cover and I’m not saying people do but an outfit can speak volumes from what your wearing to the accessories and hairstyles the person can give you a glimpse into who they are or what they are feeling at that moment. Evolving to adapt to a world where anything is accessible at your fingertips maybe hard and innovative but also takes on a life of its own, such as wearable technology.

           Wearable technology has taken on a life of its own and every day we see new breakthroughs in the fabrics, the technology, etc. however its not going the way I envisioned it and though I can’t speak for you but from the look of Dolce & Gabbana’s new headphone line we have the same vision. I would like to see more fashion and style then technology. The technology shouldn’t be the only bold thing in wearables. If you’re wearing it, it should be an expression of who you are and your personality

           I would like the opportunity to team up with Dolce & Gabbana to define wearable technology. Today its more focused on technology and my dissertation focuses on how the wearable technology is so focused on the aspect of technology and not the fact that it’s also wearable and the health concerns associated with the situation. I think wearable technology should be cute heated jackets, or a purse that can charge your phone merging the two but not ruining the idea that fashion is freedom of expression.

           Today’s society is so focused on accessing Facebook on everything everyday instead of the health of the people and the planet. There are wearables being created to help clean oceans and I think this is another form of wearable technology that Dolce & Gabbana can benefit from, the idea of redefining what people consider wearable technology. In the early years of fashion wearable technology is considered watches, and walkman’s today we are putting our focus on these things but we have been there and done that, we changed it to Apple watches and Ipod’s.

           Dolce & Gabbana is the perfect company for this because it always is new and innovative and with the release of the new headphone line the company understands the idea of more fashion and less technology, which is my main focus because I have a quote I love to say and came up with alone, “Business is my passion, fashion is my edge” I plan to make this my motto and live by it with everything I do in my field. Everything should be creative and new and benefit the world in one way or another.

           It’s time to take a leap forward into the future, our team up would be classic meets future and will speak to more generations, causing more sales and more talk across the fashion world. Imagine a runway show in New York fashion week releasing a line of wearable useful technology with style and grace. You would not be disappointed by bringing me onboard because we can change this new idea and perfect it.

ENG 1021: A Visual Soundtrack

“Forget The Rules If You Like It Wear It” 

“Business is my passion, fashion is my edge”-me. This quote i came up with one day when trying to come up with a quote for my Facebook account. It describes me and my interest well I want a business and I want my creativity to be the edge of it. In today’s world this is perfect because we in a society that wants to wear technology, look like money, and shop like celebrities. EVERYTHING is a fashion statement but when and where does it stop.

I think wearable technology in clothing and styling such as the image above and below is acceptable and does not cause many issues and problems in everyday activities. Its fun and can still speak volumes in fashion and that’s what being wearable should be about. In my opinion in these two photos technology and fashion have met at a perfect meeting ground it is when fashion is being abused by technology causing laziness.  

Wearable technology can change the world it can make the world move faster and more efficient.  However I feel it can make the world a bit dangerous as well because now we have glasses and watches and things you were all day to distract you. Such as if you are driving with these glasses on you can get hurt or hurt other people around you so when do we put regulations on this? 

There are many conspiracies going around that the world will become something like the movie 1984 and we will be watched and controlled through the new devices and technology. This theory makes people tape up the cameras on their laptops and tablets because of the fear of the government tuning in when they want to. There was even rumored to be a chip implanted into your hand for credit card payments and tracking.

When does wearable technology go to far? I believe its when people rely on just the technology for everything. Now there are many forms of technology to help you keep track of your steps and workouts and even how to swing a golf club perfectly through a ring. It seems today no effort is needed.

ENG 1021: Genre

In today's day in age we don't think much about genres unless your asking your friend "what kind of movie should I pick up from redbox?" In which case you would answer comedy or scary. To me genre is simply defined as a set of categories to place artistic expression in, this could mean anything from movies, music, to art pieces. The genres would be things like hip hop comedy or contemporary. The way this is used to control audiences is to keep them in that category if you make horror films for a movie u want to keep ur horror film fans so u keep doing what u can to keep them into your genre. If u like the idea of fantasies u would love the princesses and every time a new one comes out you will want to experience that new fantasy. I also know that I don't like action movies so that's not even a section I would go to in a red box but if I don't know the movie is action I might watch the movie. I use my taste in genres to pick out different things in my life I love hip hop music so in my room is a poster that says music saves lives and then it's crossed out and it says hip hop saves lives what you like plays a role in everything you do if you go to my other tumblr blogs you can tell immediately who I am and what I like. You create your voice to the creator by your response people tattoo Disney princesses and draw them make alternative lives and looks for them it can take on a life of its own. The frontline video and Jon are related in many ways one being that in a search for what is cool so all the kids can do it is that one rebel that doesn't think it's cool and defines cool as reading a book not having the latest Jordan's. The both present though how media has a huge impact on this and on future generations. Frontline is a documentary showing and interviewing different views and takes on the matter of media followings and likes. Jon shows how u can ignore the media and followings and still identify with the aspects of media without being into the aspect of media. A personal experience I had that made me realize likes aren't as important as the generations think. Just like normal teens I wanted ALLL the likes and followers and stuff but does people know nothing about you but what you show them and let's face it what you post is you but is it what you feel is it really you. No it's not because u won't post the embarrassing the real. You won't post the 2 dollars in your bank account but you will post the vacation you went on two years ago and pretend as though it is today. The reason I came to this conclusion was when I realized how many people look vs how many people like. I have over a 1,000 people on Facebook and I know every single one of them and I normally stay in the 50-80 range of likes. I once posted a post on me being bisexual and anyone having a problem can delete me because I wouldn't change for anyone i got about 600 likes on this one post with about 200 comments but on all my other post and pictures was not that big a deal people liked the real rather than the fake my vacations across seas were nothing in the eyes of my followers but the minute I took them out of the fantasy of traveling with me and became realistic that's what they liked. My followers argued under that post and defended me told me they loved me and I touched them. However they saw all my other post and never identified with me until then. The media uses us in many different ways many companies pay Facebook, Twitter, Instagram for your information and you agree to it win no realization because you pressed agree on the terms and services agreement that you didn't even read. They filter your photos and they go through your likes, ever realized you searched something once and now you keep seeing like things on your feed ? That's because Facebook is designed to filter out what you want to see based on your past views. Genres define me in different ways if you see I like hip hop music you can assume I like graffiti, parting, etc you can determine a lot from a person. My best friends favorite genre of movie is romantic you can tell she likes dinner dates and her boyfriend bringing her flowers and stuff. However I feel in this century with this generation it doesn't really limit you, people are more confident in what they like and what they want so even if something is out of the comfort zone they will still want it like it and go for it. In the past I feel maybe it would limit people with the way mass media is today nothing truly defines you a number of things define you. I like everything so it's easier to say what I don't like which is country, rock, heavy metal, horror, or history. I create my own identity because I'm the girl that planned out her Disney sleeve of tattoos and does her makeup to hardcore rap I like flowers and roses but I like black makeup and skulls I love mystery books but I don't like mystery movies I feel you can tell what's going to happen. I pride myself on being unique and different I like things no one else likes and I buy things I know other people normally won't. I love fantasies but I'm a realist. When I talk to media I am Jon I don't follow I like to rule and conquer, what others define as cool means nothing to me I am me.

INTERNET HOAXES: FACT CHECKING THE INTERNET

         It seems today with all the forms of media around the world there becomes a million different truths to a story an once on mass media it takes on a life of its own. In this century nothing happens without it being posted to Facebook or Twitter and from there memes get generated, blogs gets updated, and what you thought was the truth can be just another opinion piece. Ever saw a meme and was completely shocked by what a celebrity “said”?

           Albert Einstein one of the world’s icon for his inventions and extreme knowledge is posted as saying “Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” Einstein being a scientist among other things wouldn’t define a term such as insanity so simply. As a scientist your job is to experiment and try certain things a number of times changing the variables around so you can come to the same or different conclusion. Expecting different results each time indicates that we were unhappy with the first result.

           The origin of the famous Einstein quote was his Letters to Solovine: 1906-1955, however you can find this quote in a simple google search, and come up with the originator as Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain. Thought it is really hard to find copies of the letter online in English form many articles discuss it coming from his Letters to Solovine. However I do not believe Einstein intended for this to become his definition of insanity and once again shows how the internet can take something and make it into something it’s not. What makes me think wasn’t his intention is because with someone like Einstein who has a lot of knowledge, also with his scientific studies and having to repeat experiments would have felt this way. The Letters to Solovine are hard to discover in today’s world unless purchased but im sure in some context it  was referring to something else going on in the moment of time. However many people say the quote didn’t arise until the 1980′s in Rita Mae Brown's "Sudden Death," published in 1983. 

           “Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” Got taken out of context when society started coming up with quotes to keep going such as “dust yourself off and try again” or from simply learning a lesson, such as your with your boyfriend and u make up to break up all the time it can be explained by using Einsteins quote on insanity. 

              in return i feel this quote has impacted society in many different ways some generations will take it as a sign to give up instead of keeping a goal in mind and trying to achieve that goal
