some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

In PLA your player character is bold. The fact that you can change vastly different hairstyles means the base model of your character is bold. All the hairstyles are just wigs you change out at the barbershop.
Seeing that there is no way they made a entirely different model for the rival character means that the character you didn’t choose aka Akari or Rei is also bold and wearing a wig.
Do with this info what like.

I saw the whole controversy about Ingo’s hair yesterday and want to throw in my two cents. ( even tho it a bit late).
I studied game design for a year in art school. I’m not going to claim be expert but I do know the basics and what to look out for.
The first thing I want to say is that concept art especially of a franchise can’t really be considered canon. Concept art for game is comparable to a mood board. It is meant to convey the feel of the character. While it does have guideline of how the character model should look for consistency. In the end the only thing that is truly canon is what you see in the game. but if GameFreak decides that in the next game that Ingo has a mohawk then that will become the next canon. So if you really are this upset about is ‘canon’ hair then don’t be. Canon in franchises is fleeting and never stays the same.
With that said Ingo in PLA is definitely bold or bolding. If you have ever animated a 3D character model you will know that hair and clothing will disagree with each other. Especially with how solid the hair in PLA is. You can even see it with your pc when wearing the straw hat and long hair. The hair clips through the hat. So a easy way to prevent a npc to walk around with there hair clipping through their hats is to put as little detail in hair as possible onder the hat. If you see a npc in any other game that always wears a hat then that npc doesn’t have hair. Why would it. You won’t see what’s under the hat unless you clip through the npc so why bother adding hair? It wil only take up space in the game. You can also see it in Melli’s character design. The top of his head has almost no detail. That’s because Melli also has to wear a hat in game. If they were to give a character like Adaman a hat then they would have to make 2 character models for him. One with his normal hairstyle and one either without hair or only without hair underneath the hat. And that would again take up more space in the game file.
So Ingo’s receding hairline makes sense from a game design standpoint. Besides I still think he looks cool. Him having a receding hairline doesn’t take away from his character and history. In fact I think it adds to his character. In a world with magical creatures and gods who can be caught by children, this is a surprisingly human element. And it makes Ingo feel more human.
(Edit: found a typo)

WHAT the actual fuck?! You know I only recently became a fan of the subway masters ( mostly because of PLA). I saw a lot of post of Ingo and Emmet with the disclaimer that it’s not a ship and I thought “oh. This fandom has a problem with incest shippers. But I so far haven’t seen any of those post so that group must small.” Oh how naive I was. You see my Pinterest somehow got wind of my current fiction and by Arceus. I wasn’t even two pictures in before I got to them. Like 1. 2. Incest go. Jesus fucking Christ! I was expecting this shit from Twitter but PINTEREST!? Arceus erase this knowledge from my memory. This is the ninja turtles all over again.
Why the fuck is Tumblr better at censoring this.

【BROTHER!】
This is fastest I’ve ever churned out a comic, and it was fueled by needing to see Emmet ride on top of a train thats on fire. Fandom said Emmet gets to be unhinged, and i said “say less” lmaoo
I just need them to reunite, I’m begging.
Bonus dumb thing:

I don’t think Ingo wil get a in game opportunity to go home. At least not in Legends Arceus.
In game Ingo gives you 99% of the npc trainer battles, post game. The other 1% being the bandit battles that appear randomly in the over world. The only way to send Ingo home and not upset the game balance is to replace him with a other npc. But with his popularity it will be a very unlikely move for Game Freak to make. And honestly I think I’ll be okay with that. Under one condition.
In the Black and White remake they have to give Ingo a Hisuian Pokémon on his team at the very least.

I think Arceus has been experimenting on people
Spoiler alert for the ending of Legends Arceus!
I have been playing Legends Arceus and was thinking about the whole main character and Ingo being stuck in the past situation. Especially Ingo’s memory loss. At first I thought he hit his head when he fell from the rift and his amnesia was due to a head injury. But Ingo isn’t the first character with amnesia in the games.
From the top of my head, I can recall Looker and Anabel. There are probably more but these two are the most recent. both Looker and Anabel were found unconscious on a beach with memory loss. Just like your character starts their journey in Legends Arceus, minus the amnesia. Now I do have to say that Anabel is speculated to being stuck in an ultra-wormhole before ending up on the beach but I think for this it still counts.
I’m starting to think that Arceus has been trying to send someone back in time for a while now but didn’t know how to do it yet. Soo in order to figure out how much time and space distortion he needed in order to send someone back in time to do a job for him, he started to test it out on humans. Amnesia may be a major side effect to being teleported by Arceus.
Looker might have only been teleported though space and not though time. Anabel was sent to far into space and ended up in a wormhole. Arcues could be unintentionally causing the utra-wormholes. Ingo could have been a more successful test run being in the right time and place and with his memory's slowly returning. That makes the mc of Legends Arceus a successful subject therefor receiving a Arceus phone and a mission.
If this theory is true that would mean Arceus response to Volo’s attempt to recreate the world is to displace a whole bunch of people though space and time to learn time travel. And when Arceus mastered time travel he sends the 15 year old champion of Sinnoh back in time and on a mission to defeat Volo. A character who has dealt with this situation before.
It kind of makes you wonder. How many people got displaced though out time and space to reach this goal? How many amnesiacs are roaming around not knowing what has happened to them? Are there more trainers lost in time that still remember their past? For all we know Emmet is in ‘the darkest day’ making the first ever train out of a small army of Carkol’s and Rolycoly’s in order to look for his brother. Not realizing yet that he is looking in the wrong region.

There are 4 categories the pokémon from your team fit in
- The starter
- The pokémon you like
- The “I need this typing” pokémon
- and the “I wasn’t completely sold on you but you saved my ass enough times that you earned your spot” pokémon
