#concepttocreation ... it’s not often (ok maybe twice in my entire career) that I created a computer rendition of a cake before creating it. . . The left is a “sketch” made using paint... yup, PAINT! (And yes the ribbon on the left is supposed to be red, but I couldn’t find an image online) . Client gave me a budget some must haves and her colour palette. From there I got to play and create the cake of my choosing. . . Creative freedom is a great way for cake artist to express their passion. Gaining clients trust will take time, but producing great quality products each and every time will certainly help! . . . Consistency is key. . I don’t often create computer sketches because I like to create as I go. I know that sounds absolutely CRAZY. But it’s true. . . My concepts and designs tend to come to me fluidly and organically while working. I have a general idea and concept in mind but I let the creative process take reign while it all comes together. . . Give yourself the freedom to create and explore. . Your imagination is your only boundary. . Take the stress out of the brides hands and let them enjoy the whole process! . . When you give an artist the freedom to create you are allowing their true potential shine. . . I was given the freedom to create whatever my heart desired, no limitations no direction. . . There are a million and one ways I could have gone, but I chose to create one of my most favourite textures lately (note the photo background 😉) . . This all buttercream cake is topped with a chocolate stone piece to add dimension and interest. . . All I knew going into this was it was a cake to celebrate a mans birthday and had to be Funfetti inside (we grow old but never have to grow up!). . . It’s a step outside of my over the top, cutesy, colourful and character pieces and maybe that’s why my in my mind it was instantly where my head went. . . Masculine, bold and makes a statement. . . Trust the artist you hire, they are skilled at their craft, don’t just send them a picture and say create this, allow them the freedom to Rome deep within their subconscious and beautiful things will happen! . . There’s something so satisfying about an ombré cake that from first colour to last colour has a drastic change by using slight gradations. . . This ombré cake has 9 colour gradations. Starting from deep sky blue and ending in white this beauty helped celebrate an incredible 65 year anniversary milestone! . . . Today is a very special day! . Today I’m sharing a memory from 5 years ago. Back when I didn’t know much about anything, all I really knew is I loved making cakes and sugar flowers were some of my favourite things. . . What makes this cake and this day so special? . . Well it was a surprise cake, for a surprise party for a very special person in my life! . . My wife! . I managed to pull off a complete surprise party and this cake for her 30th birthday! .
