the  most  important  thing  to  note  about  margaery  is  that  she  is  undyingly  loyal  to  her  family     ━━     the  tyrells  move  as  a  unit ,     and  not  a  separate  force.          margaery  unfortunately  has  little  agency  of  her  own ,      though  she  knows  well  how  to  maneuver  through  what  she  has  thanks  to  her  grandmother.          margaery  is  very  much  lady  olenna’s  protégée ;     olenna  has  the  boon  of  age  on  her  side  to  be  prickly  however ,     and  thus  margaery  is  much  sweeter  and  kinder ,     but  no  less  cunning ,     shrewd ,     and  intelligent.
i  personally  find  margaery  to  be  part  of  the  ‘spoiled  sweet’  trope.          she’s  a  highborn  southron  lady ,     so  she’s  naturally  just  as  spoiled  as  any  other  highborn  lady ,     and  coming  from  highgarden ,     she  might  have  just  as  much  if  not  more  ideals  similar  to  sansa . . .        just  tempered ,     thanks  to  her  grandmother  and  the  years  she  has  on  sansa  in  both  age  and  politics.          margaery  is  kind ,     but  she’s  not  unaware  of  the  privileges  that  being  kind  give  you  as  a  ruler.          you  catch  more  flies  with  honey  than  with  vinegar.
all  that  being  said ,     margaery  doesn’t  necessarily  want  to  be  queen.
"Be that as it may. Lady Olenna was not about to let Joff harm her precious darling granddaughter, but unlike her son she also realized that under all his flowers and finery, Ser Loras is as hot-tempered as Jaime Lannister. Toss Joffrey, Margaery, and Loras in a pot, and you've got the makings for kingslayer stew. The old woman understood something else as well. Her son was determined to make Margaery a queen, and for that he needed a king . . . but he did not need Joffrey. We shall have another wedding soon, wait and see. Margaery will marry Tommen. She'll keep her queenly crown and her maidenhead, neither of which she especially wants, but what does that matter? The great western alliance will be preserved . . . for a time, at least."
baelish  has  played  the  game  so  far  very  cleverly ,     and  is  the  best  unbiased  insight  we  have  into  margaery’s  mind ,     since  she’s  not  a  pov  character  and  her  sansa  chapters  are  rose  tinted ,     while  cersei’s  vilify  her  out  of  jealousy .         mace  is  the  one  who  wants  margaery  to  be  a  queen.
it  seems  to  me  margaery  herself  would  be  happy  to  stay  in  highgarden ,     but  as  per  usual ,     women  are  a  pawn  in  the  men  of  westeros’  game.
