I have said it before, and I will say it again.
Love interest OC for Lance Strongbow.

YES, seriously! Like, my man, I can tell you like capable, confident ladies who don't fall for your cons, but they shouldn't also be the kind of gal who dismiss you at every turn! All the main ones I remember him meeting in the show (besides Rapunzel) do this, and yet they're the ones who get shipped with him.
Lance gets good, supportive friends who love having fun with him. He deserves to have that romantically too.
idk if this is controversial or not . . .
but Lance deserves someone better than Adira.
Lance, buddy, I appreciate your love for strong, bad*ss women, but man … you can do better.

Siblings make fun of each other. Take it from someone who has six of them. Siblings bicker and fight and say mean things sometimes. It's almost never meant to be actually hateful or hurtful. Heck, oftentimes, wisecracks and insults are practically a love language between siblings!
Furthermore, I think we're forgetting Cassandra's part in all this. I mean, at the very least, she gave as good as she got. Plus, I can think of at least two examples where she said mean stuff just because, and not criticizing flaws at that! (the crack about his ears in "The Alchemist Returns" and the buffer part in "The Keeper of the Spire")
Now, part of this may be speaking from different experiences - large family with lots of siblings on my part. But I'm just saying, I don't think this particular analysis is either completely realistic or completely fair.
It finally hit me what bugs me the most about Eugene and Cassandra's supposed friendship- I don't know where the line is for him.
Cassandra will take shots at him for his flaws, but they are genuine flaws and in some cases her calling him out makes him improve himself. Eugene on the other hand, ranges from "You don't have a personality" and "It'd be great if you stayed and got blown up" and even being thrilled at the idea of her losing her job and home in season 1 to "But in our defense, we never listen to you!" in season 2.
And yes I know, half of this is his sense of humor but here's the thing. It's not funny, like, at all. There is a huge difference between Cassandra's insults and Eugene's. Almost anytime Rapunzel and Eugene talk about Cass he takes some kind of shot at her, half the time out of the blue. It's like he can't resist insulting her and doing so is some kind of chore for him.
Hell in big brothers, he even casually mentions he was gonna make fun of Cass's injury but he's so grateful that he won't. And then as if that isn't bad enough, then we get Eugene admitting Cass is like a sister to him. As if he way he treats her is how any good brother normally treats their sibling.

Absolutely agree. The show is like higher budget fanfiction. It has tons of OCs (including ones who get epic powers and have connections to movie characters), it's part fluff and part angst, some creative fan expansion of the world, and headcanons for characters with little development. There's cute fluff for New Dream, but also a lot of inaccurate character portrayal for both. OOC fanfiction, but still fairly fun.
Why I classify TTS as not canon to the tangled universe
Literally no one asked for this nor will they care, but I've been reading some stuff on Chris and I'm fired up.
Basically I don't classify it as canon for two reasons
1. The story isn't about Rapunzel when you really think about it
2. Rapunzel and Eugene are out of character pretty much the whole series
When I watched TTS it all felt off. I loved it at first don't get me wrong, but as it progressed it felt further away from the source material. It just doesn't feel like Tangled. It was supposed to be a continuation but honestly I wouldn't mind if disney made a tangled sequel that completely ignored the series and continued off the movie or the wedding short.

They look like they should be fighting off a horde of enemies back to back, not each other 😢

As heartbreaking as it is, this is still one of my favorite Cap and Cass frames. Right up there with their two hugs, actually. Cause it shows that even after all this time, even now on opposite sides and furious with each other they're still in sync. Cassandra's lifetime of training has more than paid off and Cap knows it.

See, now, imagine if this was done with Cassandra's arc.
Evil’s Offer
I just have been thinking recently on how the White Witch in the beginning told Edmund that she’d make him a prince.
I just find it so ironic, because he was always destined to be king.
And I just chewed on that thought for a while, and I realized that it’s what evil always does: It knows our destiny and our potential, and it does everything in its power to sell us the cheaper version. It knows if we step into our true potential at full capacity, its stronghold of power crumbles.
I hope I never make the mistake of choosing the knock-off version of my own destiny. I guess the best way to know is to never accept the version that puts you in a position under evil’s feet.
If only evil was always so recognizable as the White Witch.

Okay, I know the opinion on "Once a Handmaiden" is that it's not much good (agreed), but I just had the thought that if Rapunzel was Faith in the past, it parallels interestingly to Cassandra being Faith in that episode.
I just had an idea that would actually (hopefully) make No Time Like The Past make sense in the general plot of season 3. Instead of teen Lance and Teen Eugene, have Rapunzel have an adventure with Teen Cassandra, maybe she's Faith or Friedborg or someone, so Rapunzel could have a better understanding of the struggles Cass has always faced and that Rapunzel was willfully oblivious to.

I would be so happy if they just redid the Tangled movie in the style of the show, instead of a regular live-action remake. Maybe add in a couple of cameos if you want, but yeah, all I want is basically that.
No more live-action remakes of animated films. It's time for animated remakes of live-action films!

A very happy birthday to my friend Becky, @runningracingdancingchasing! :D
She is a huge Tangled fan, and it is always a pleasure to draw Rapunzel for her. (And this time my sketch wasn’t messy as heck, so I used the actual pencil lines.)

My part of a trade with @artmarina-arts! I had a ton of fun working on this and I hope you like it!!  💖
(I also HIGHLY rec viewing the full size of this *here*!  🙏 The original is bigger/cropped differently/easier to see, tumblr doesn’t display wide pics well.)

Do you think Varian was bullied by other kids growing up in his village?
I honestly don't see much evidence of there being other kids in Old Corona, other than in the quick flashes when Varian is telling Rapunzel about the situation with the rocks in "Queen For a Day".
Tumblr media
But, I mean, obviously there are other kids there, it's a thriving community.
I don't think Varian was particularly bullied, because a) he's the village leader's son, and b) he mostly keeps to himself. The series has shown zero evidence of there being any formal schools (which, fair, it's ye olden tymes), so I think Varian is mostly self-taught in his schooling, and the rest of the time, he's either working on his alchemy/inventions or helping Quirin in the fields and orchards. Not much time for bullying.
This is not to say that I think he had many (if any) friends. See previously mentioned keeping to himself. I think he has that neurodivergent trait of "cannot relate to people his own age".
