Hi everybody! I created an Instagram page with summaries of my Medium articles on AI, data science, machine learning, quantitative finance and other stuff. Check it out and follow it if you find it interesting! @connectionsaiphysicsmath (at Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2G9DCiJ6Wr/?igshid=xny6cpp2igku

This is the first version of a post published on Medium where I give brief (tl;dr) explanations of all my articles. They include a reasonably wide range of topics including AI, physics, pure and applied mathematics, statistics, finance, philosophy of physics, and so on.  This post will be continuously revised. This is just a first draft. I hope some of you enjoy it. https://tinyurl.com/y432a92j https://www.instagram.com/p/B1ztq3cJ8xr/?igshid=cmdxfu9ja3oe

Here is my post on Towards Data Science explaining why artificial neural networks can predict the outcome of almost any process in Nature. Enjoy! https://tinyurl.com/y2xolgx6 https://www.instagram.com/p/B1ztQknJyEX/?igshid=z8mgj1xjivd3

In this @linkedin article (published originally on @towardsdatascience), I argue that by thinking of stochastic gradient descent as a Langevin process, one can better understand the reasons why the method works so well as a global optimizer. https://tinyurl.com/y2m6l42x https://www.instagram.com/p/B0zFLiblNIk/?igshid=l3bzv9f7r86l

Here is my post on Linkedin where I argue, following recent research, that deep learning and theoretical physics have profound, fascinating interconnections. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/deep-learning-explainability-hints-from-physics-marco-tavora-ph-d- https://www.instagram.com/p/B0wEu5ugsxd/?igshid=1j0n5mtoigvx1

Here is my post on Linkedin where I describe some recent research on the interface between machine learning and theoretical physics. There I explain how building blocks of deep neural networks can be used to compute with extremely high accuracy several properties of complex quantum mechanical systems. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/neural-quantum-states-marco-tavora-ph-d- https://www.instagram.com/p/B0uSR3JALcm/?igshid=yyx719hyz79r

We all know the feeling (or mental state) of flow. I am fascinated by the topic and have been reading for years about it, trying (and often succeeding) to find ways to induce it in my life and work. In the words of Steven Kotler "[Flow is] the optimal state of consciousness where we feel our best and perform our best [...]. Concentration becomes so laser-focused that everything else falls away [...]. Time [...] slows down (like the freeze frame of a car crash) or speeds up (and five hours pass by in five minutes). And throughout, all aspects of performance are incredibly heightened - and that includes creative performance." According to Mike Oppland "the balance of perceived challenges and skills are important factors in flow [...]. When a challenge is bigger than one’s level of skills, one becomes anxious and stressed [...] When the level of skill exceeds the size of the challenge, one becomes bored and distracted." The figure below (or some version of it) appears in the articles of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, the world's leading flow specialist. #flow #creativity #innovations #brainscience #productivity #joy https://www.instagram.com/p/B0ZUK4DpL0D/?igshid=xii0slrfzn8n
