This episode begins with Draken telling us about his life. He never met his father, his mother was a prostitute, that abandoned him when he was just two years old, and left him to live in the place she used to work. He was very tall from a young age, so he used to beat high schoolers when he was in primary school. When he was in 5th grade, he got his dragon tattoo in the temple, since he liked to be called Draken and not Ken Ryuguji.
A little gang that was controlling a nearby neighborhood would talk to him, and one day, they asked him to go looking for another primary schooler which name was being heard for the same reason as Draken's. They both were beating people way older than them, a guy named Mikey. Draken completely amused by the idea when to find him right away, expecting to find a huge buff kid, and instead finding a petite, thin and tiny blonde, that talked nonsense, as if people had to understand what he was talking about.
Draken, letting Mikey know why he had come looking for him, tells him how a group of high schoolers want to fight him, to what Mikey responds to yes and goes to leave his belongings back to his school locker before following Draken to what Draken thought, would be a beating to the little guy.
Once they arrived, Draken let know the older guys that the kid accompanying him was Mikey. While Mikey, without a second of hesitation, began running towards the guy at the center which was the leader, just to jump and land in the guy's face with his foot, landing a strong kick and leaving him unconscious, turning back to face the rest of the people, that were terrified to see how easily Mikey had taken their leader and leaving immediately. Mikey, then talked directly to Draken, to let him know that he had heard about him, and that he couldn't understand how someone so cool as Draken was with guys so low and stupid as the ones behind him, also asking him to be friends and calling him "Kenchin", giving a nickname just as he had done with Takemichi when they first met.

After Takemichi comes back to the future, he and Naoto are looking for Osanai, the leader of Moebius that begins the confrontation with ToMan after what he did to a guy, his girlfriend and his family. It does not take long for them to find him, since they arrive at his workplace and listed while Osanai is being scolded, coming to find a poor old man that looks tousled and messy.
They ask Osanai to join them on a meal, so they can ask him about the fight that took place 12 years in the past with ToMan and Draken's death, but he seems disturbed by the topic and lets them know that Draken was not killed by the fight itself, but it was just the trigger that made those things happen, since that fight was the reason there were internal issues with ToMan later on. Osanai speaks about how all of it was someone's plan, but he does not say who's plan since he is terrified he will be in trouble, and he fears ToMan too much to say more, leaving just after that.
Takemichi decides the way to go is to prevent the fight for happening and takes Naoto's hand to go back in time again. He wakes up sitting on a bike with Akkun. Takemichi realized that this is the first time he sees Akkun in the past after he killed himself in the future, so Takemichi asks Akkun if he has any dream or anything he would like to be when older, Akkun replies that maybe a stylist, and Takemichi swears to support him, then telling him he needs to leave and heading to meet Mikey and ask him not to fight with Moebius.
When he arrives, Mikey is surrounded by Draken, Pachin and Peyan, this last two being the 3rd division captains and high commands. Takemichi tells Mikey how they should not fight against Moebius and this makes Pachin angry, since the people that were hurt by the gang where his friends, so he starts beating Takemichi for saying they should avenge his people. Takemichi shouts to Mikey that it is a trap, and that a bad thing will happen if they fight Moebius, but Mikey lets him know that he already gave the order to fight, so he won't change his mind.
Desperate to prevent this, Takemichi kneels in front of Mikey, and bows his head, asking him not to fight. In response, Pachin is about to hit him again, but Draken steps in and tells Mikey that since Takemichi is so persistent, maybe they should research Moebius more before doing something they might regret. Mikey sees this a Draken challenging or refusing to follow the orders Mikey has given, and both Mikey and Draken seem to be displeased with what the other is implying.
Just when things are tense enough, Osanai appear and challenges ToMan, even when only 4 members are there. Osanai, looking completely different from what he looked in the future when Takemichi met him, hits Pachin right away when he tries to go forward and confront him. And just after landing the hit, he makes the signal for all of his followers to appear behind him, outnumbering Takemichi and his friends, and like this the episode ends, keeping us expecting for what comes next and how they are going to come out of this situation that seems pretty bad.

After what happened with Akkun, Takemichi and Naoto are both aware that the only way to change things from now on is in the past, since they do not have any contacts within Tokyo Manji in the future anymore. Naoto researches on Draken's death, and finds that he was murdered on a huge fight between gangs, information letting them know that the reason for Draken's death was an internal conflict on Tokyo Manji, and also that they only have two weeks to figure a way to prevent Draken from dying the day of the fight.
With this information, Takemichi and Naoto hold hands, and Takemichi is sent back to the past, just to wake up with a half naked girl on top. Takemichi freaks out completely, and without a second thought he leaves the place running, ironically bumping into Hina, and her listening how he talks to himself about how Hina can't find out what happened. Hina tell's Takemichi how she feels he is weird since some days he is cold and weird, but some days he is kind and mature with her. At that moment, Takemichi gets a phone call from Draken, asking him to meet him, and Hina decides to accompany Takemichi to meet Draken.
Once they are where Draken ask him to join, Hina and Takemichi watch as a lot of motorbikers arrived at the place, with a gang uniform, all of them being part of ToMan. Two of the huge guys come to confront Takemichi for being there and ask him why such a tadpole was invited to a gang meeting, at that moment Mitsuya the 2nd division captain from ToMan and a high command appears and helps Takemichi, bringing him to meet Mikey and Draken. Draken seen that Hina is there, calls for "Emma" and tells her to take care of Hina. Emma coming up to be the girl that was half naked with Takemichi earlier. Emma tells everyone about how Takemichi left her in underwear, and Hina hits Takemichi, leaving just after that.
After this, ToMan's meeting begins. Mikey explains how this is related to another gang called Moebius, and how they are having a conflict with this gang since they beat a guy and raped his girlfriend in from of him, and hanged his family. This people Moebius hurt, where very close to a High Command from ToMan, therefore Mikey takes the decision to fight this other gang, and teach them not to get involved with people they are not supposed to. Mikey setting the date of the fight to be the exact same date all the report Naoto showed Takemichi saying Draken was murdered that day.
Takemichi in an attempt to avoiding Draken getting hurt decides to be Draken's body guard, even when Draken says no, and he follows his all around, trying to figure out why would there be an internal issues between Draken and Mikey. Yet, as he follows them, he only figures how close Draken and Mikey are, and how their dynamic is so fluid.
Draken takes Mikey to the Hospital, so they can visit the girl that was raped and beaten, to present respect about what happened to her, but at that moment, the parent of the girl show up and star yelling to both kids, telling them that people like them should not come close to his daughter, since they are guilty of the thing that happened to her. Mikey, gets mad and it's going to confront the old men, but Draken makes him bow in respect, since he understands that even when they have no fault about what happened, the men is upset about all the situation and is not thinking straight.
Takemichi, seeing all of this, understands how Draken helps Mikey keep grounded, and makes him better, since Draken is like his conscience, and he also gets to understand how Draken's death changes Mikey completely in the future.
With this series of events, episode 5 comes to and end, making us rush to episode 6 to see what else is about to happen, since the story is developing fast and with a lot of details that make it more and more interesting.

The episode begins with Takemichi and Hina spending time together, Hina making Takemichi think about how when he was young, he never had a dream he wanted to accomplish. Decided to make Takemichi get his goals, Hina invites Takemichi to study in her house.
Hina lets him know how she can feel the change he has, since he seems more mature and center to the way he was before, and at that moment fireworks start exploding in the sky, so Hina and Takemichi go to the rooftop to watch them together. Takemichi, having a rush of courage, decides to take her hand, but end up taking Naoto's hand instead, which makes him go back to the present, since as predicted that is the trigger to trable in time.
Once Takemichi is back to his normal timeline, he talks to Naoto about how Mikey is different from what they had imagined since he is just a nice guy that loves to chill, but Naoto does not fell comfortable with the way Takemichi talks about Mikey. Trying to prove his point and in order to understand why Tokyo Manji has changed in the future, Takemichi tells Naoto that they need to locate Mikey, so he can go and talk to him in person. Naoto using his resources as a policeman and all the documentation he has gain in the last years, he tries to find a way to meet Mikey.
They figure that Takemichi's ex leader and friend Akkun is part of ToMan in the future, he became part of it after stabbing Kiyomizu, years later becoming a High Command for this gang. Both Naoto and Takemichi go to Takemichi's apartment, so they can look for a box with high school stuff, looking for Akkun's phone number since is the easiest way to make contact with ToMan at this moment.
They find a way to meet Akkun in person, and they go to visit him to talk and figure out what is going on. Once they are at the location they will meet and Takemichi sees Akkun again, he is completely amazed by how different he looks in the future. Akkun asks Takemichi to talk in private away from Naoto, so both of them go to the rooftop of the building they are in and this is when Akkun starts telling Takemichi all that is going on.
Akkun tells Takemichi how he knows Naoto is a policeman and that he is Hina's brother, tho he did not know she used to have a sibling. He also tells Takemichi, how he was the one that pushed him into the train reels to die, but there was Naoto to save him, which was completely strange since it was like Naoto already knew Takemichi was going to die. Akkun tell's Takemichi that it seems like Takemichi can go back in time, and that is the only way it would make sense that he was saved.
Takemichi gets mad at the way Akkun is acting and what he is saying, so he calls him out on how he was always so centered, kind and reliable, but how he is not acting like that anymore, even tho he can not believe Akkun was the one to push him. Akkun then tells Takemichi that now ToMan are Kisaki's slaves, and they can not disobey him, they have years without knowing where is Mikey, and they are all really scared of Kisaki, and how everything changed after Draken died, since he was not supposed to die, Akkun steps on the edge of the building, telling Takemichi how he thinks that Takemichi going back in time to save Hina is action of true love, and letting his last word be "Save us all, Crying Hero", throwing himself from the building and dying instantly once he hits the ground hitting his head.
With this sad action from Takemichi's friend, the episode ends, just after Takemichi promises to Naoto his is going to save Hina, Akkun and now Draken.

Tokyo Revengers Ep 3
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: Spoiler ahead, this will be mostly my opinion regarding the anime and theories as well as it will contain information from the episode per se.
WARNING: Violence theme, mention beating, stabbing and fight
Tumblr media
Episode 2 left us waiting for more, since it ended right after Takemichi challenges Kiyomizu to a fight, since he is completely done with the way he and his friends are being treated. Trying to convince all the spectators of the fights, he says that everyone should find more interesting a fight that involves their "boss" and not just some mediocre fights between the weak ones.
Kiyomizu not being able to deny his request, steps out and decides he will fight Takemichi, bare handed. He starts giving a beating to Takemichi while everyone around them hypes over the fight, until Kiyomizu says he wants someone to bring a bat to finish his fight with it. At this the multitude stays quite since Kiyomizu promised a bare handed fight and now is changing his word.
At the sight of how dangerous the situation has become, Akkun the leader of Takemichi's previous gang and one of his best friends, starts moving forward razor in hand, ready to step in and stab Kiyomizu whenever Takemichi gets really hurt. But while Akkun is doing his up to the front, Takemichi in a spring of adrenaline and courage throws himself at Kiyomizu letting the older guy know he is not giving up, and speaking out loud how he won't bow his head nor ask for forgiveness, he won't step out of the fight since he does not want to regret making that decision later on.
There is a quick change in the atmosphere of the place, and everyone becomes quite, since there is someone walking towards Kiyomizu and Takemichi. Two blonde guys make their way to the center of the "arena", one tall with a braid and a dragon tattooed on his temple, and the other one tiny and with long hair, both of them quiet while they walk.
As they come to meet the two guys fighting, Kiyomizu bows deeply as all the spectators, greeting them and referring to the little guy as Mikey and Draken the tall one. At the sight of Kiyomizu's bow, Draken lands a kick on Kiyomizu's stomach reminding him to lower more his head at the presence of ToMan's leader Mikey, who walks past Kiyomizu without a second glance and approaches Takemichi, greeting him.
Mikey with a cute smile and a funny way to express himself lets Takemichi know that he finds the younger guy interesting and that from now on they will be friends, since Takemichi doesn't seem like a typical high schooler. Mikey asks for Takemichi's name, and when he gives it to him, Mikey miss pronounces it, changing it to Takemitchy, being this the way he will be called from now on by Mikey and all ToMan.
After this, he leaves Takemichi and turns to Kiyomizu just to land a kick to his face, making the huge boy fall to the ground and then Mikey begins smashing Kiyomizu's face to the ground with his feet, to approach him later and tell him that he finds stupid the betting fights he has been organizing and that he should stop so ToMan's name does not get involve with such lame activity, with this last action both Draken and Mikey leave the place.
After all this unexpected situations, Takemichi leaves the place with his friends talking to Akkun he realizes that Mikey does not talk to people unless he finds them interesting. Akkun also thanks Takemichi for stepping up for them and saving them form Kiyomizu.
The next day, while Takemichi is at school receiving classes, he suddenly hears a disaster going out in the hallway, and a second later Mikey opens that door of the class interrupting the teacher just to drag our main character out of his classes, so he can join Draken and him on a stroll. At the commotion that Mikey and Draken are causing, students from other classes start peaking to see what is going on and when Hina hears what is going on she walks out or her class, directly to the three guys leaving school just to land a slap on Mikey face and telling him and Draken that she won't let them take Takemichi with them.
Draken completely offended by Hina's actions is about to fight her for hitting Mikey, but Takemichi with all the fear in his heart tells Draken that if he tries to touch Hinata he will fight him even knowing he won't win. At this action, Mikey and Draken become impressed by Takemichi's courage and intention to protect his girlfriend, so they step out of school and let Takemichi know that they will wait for him as he talks to Hina. He explains everything to the girl, what makes her walk out to apologize to Mikey, who is completely okay with the situation and expresses how pleased he is with her being so brave to defend his beloved ones.
After this, Takemichi leaves school with his new friends just to find out that they won't be going out to make mischievous or dangerous things, but they would be riding bicycles all over town and went to spot to watch the sunset. Takemichi is surprised by the pureness and how chill these guys are, what makes him wonder why they became such a dangerous gang in the future.
This is how the third episode ends, leaving us with the expectation on how is Mikey and Takemichi's relationship to evolve, and why Mikey had to change so much.
For me, the story is progressing on a fast pace, yet very understandable and justified, explaining as much as they can per episode, so everything makes sense and building expectation for the watcher. I also really like the ending and the opening, since it is very accurate with the theme and the vibe of the anime. The opening called "Cry baby" by Official Hige Dandism has the tone to Takemichi's personality, sounding chaotic and brave but at the end being a cry baby that is fighting to become better each time.
I'll add the song here, for Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube so you can go ahead and hear it :)
