SURVIVAL TIP: DENTISTRY 101
With 5 days left, summer is officially over!
On the 13th of June, our classes will officially resume and I don’t know if I should be excited or horrified! I’ll be seeing the people I missed over the summer but I’m pretty much sure I’ll be saying hello to stress and work load again. But nonetheless, I’m thankful and proud to say that I am on my second year proper and I am regular. 2 more years, hopefully, and I’ll be graduating, 1 more year for the board exam and I’ll be officially a Doctor of Dental Medicine!!!
Well, I just hope everything goes according to my plans.
For my co-dentistry students, I know that you know how I feel since it is clearly not easy being a dentistry student and it feels the same way with all the medical-related course. It gets harder every year especially when you’re at your proper years and most especially when you’re already a clinician. Believe me, it might be too early to tell but I’ve heard enough to know what are the do’s and don’t’s in surviving dentistry. And I want to share with you the tips I’ve learned along the way and the lessons I’ve learned from my upper class men. And I hope these can help all of you.
1. DON’T PROCRASTINATE
Oh, please, we definitely love cramming! I know! But when you’re a dentistry student, it doesn’t help at all. It’s one thing you should change in your study habits for sure! With this course, you’ll definitely be up all night but you don’t want to put anymore stress and pressure on yourself.
2. MAKE READING A HABIT
Some of us hates reading, but it’s one way of learning and gaining. If you can, read and study ahead. Make reading your best friend.
3. NEVER SETTLE FOR MEDIOCRE WORK
Wherever you are studying, don’t settle for ‘pwede na’. Always give yourself a room for improvement because when the real deal comes, you can’t tell you’re patients ‘pwede na yang pasta mo’.
4. DEVELOP YOUR STUDY HABITS
I have friends who loves studying at coffee shops. Some of them study together so they could ask each other questions but some prefer to study alone. Find your comfort zone and allot a certain period of time for studying. And it’s okay to give yourself a break.
5. ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B
Not everything will work out or you, trust me. In your clinician years, there are patients who wouldn’t arrive at your dated schedule so always have back up plan. Don’t be too complacent because not everybody can be trusted. Hugot.
6. HELP A FRIEND OUT
This is not a competition. It’s okay to help people who are having a hard time and it’s okay to ask help if you’re having a hard time. As long as you don’t give all that work to somebody else and take credit for it. And if you do, remember that dentistry needs knowledge and skill. One doesn’t work without the other.
7. APPRECIATE YOUR PROFESSORS
Especially those who rejects your work. They’re pushing and molding you to be the best dentist you can be. Take all their criticisms in a good way and use them to improve your work.
8. LOVE YOUR FUTURE PROFESSION
I’m going to be blunt about this but if dentistry is really not your first choice, then shift. You can’t push yourself to love something that you don’t. Hugot uli, char.  But kidding aside, dentistry should be something you really want from the beginning. Or you could learn to love it along the way.
9. DE-STRESS
Enjoy your free time. Rest and relax.
10. WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, PRAY!
Expect that it’s not going to be easy. There will be a lot of bumps along the way. It takes hard work, perseverance and patience to get where you want to be. Don’t lose hope and never give up on your dreams. It doesn’t matter how long you get there, as long as you get there.

MANILA X FESTIVAL
Tumblr media
Extraordinary festival where music meets fashion
Yesterday was probably one of the best night-out I’ve had and it’s definitely one for the books! I was extremely amazed how well organized this festival is and it’s not just about good music but also about the good taste in fashion!
It featured the hottest DJs in town like Ace Ramos, Badkiss, Tom Taus, Mars Miranda, Jessica Milner, Curse & Bless and the one and only, Marc Marasigan! Top-selling artists like Gloc 9, Kiana Valenciano, The Juans, Yeng Constantino, Thyro and Yumi, Up Dharma Down and KJwan were present for the said event too.
All thanks to mickeyqing.com for the tickets!
