the concept of whitaker realizing that the meanest, most aggressive resident on the floor with him on the worst shift of his life is taking him in, letting him live with her rent-free in exchange for helping out around the house, just because she sees a person in need and can meet that need.

then the concept of them getting home, her showing him around, and the house is warm and welcoming if not super personal. there’s tons of plants and it’s cozy and it’s not at all what he expected.

then he sees her bedroom, and she has string lights instead of a real lamp, pictures taped all over her wall of her friends and family, nicknacks and trinkets everywhere. it’s so soft and personal and warm and he realizes that all the aggression and mean spiritedness is just a front, that this woman who’s just taken him in has this kind, gentle soul that has been abused and attacked and she has developed this mask just to protect herself, and he makes it his mission to show her that she is safe and allowed to be soft, at least with him

I truly think Trinity would be the most normal of Mel's colleagues around Becca. This is NOT to say I think anyone would treat her poorly/infantilize her/etc. I just think Santos would immediately be like, "What's up, BecCAW. Cool glasses. Your sister's HELLA weird. Don't worry, I like weird."
