More about Bittersweet:

Bittersweet is a changeling! She was stolen from the mortal realm sometime in the mid 1900's and escaped through the hedge in the 2010s. She doesn't talk about her time in Arcadia, from what she does say it seems like she was being kept by the fae in some sort of human farm. Her parents and her Fetch are long since passed, she has no family other than the friend she has made since her escape.

Her transformation while in Arcadia has made it easier for her to communicate to varying degrees with domestic animals. She also has a suspiciously green thumb and is especially apt at figuring out puzzles and riddles. She works shifts at a diner and a bookstore near her apartment. In her free time you can usually find her gardening, going for nature walks, reading, and drinking tea.

She is quiet and kind and thoughtful. It's very hard to get to know her, it takes her a quite a lot of time and patience to get her to open up. She avoids loud or rowdy crowds and places. She dotes on the simple pleasures of life, and sees beauty and poetry in everything. After all that she's endured, she just wants to live the rest of her life in quiet peace.

Mortals without the sight see her as a normal human with quite a lot of birthmarks. Her style includes a lot of floral or paisley patterns, and retro dress styles (especially anything 40s-60s). She often wears fresh flowers on her person, either woven into her hair, woven into a crown, or pinned to her shirt. Cottagecore describes her vibe pretty thoroughly.

Okay okay okay proper ref sheet for my taz royale oc <3 backstory after the break.

Deryn Jackson is a ratfolk illusion wizard! Before being summoned for the wizard tourney she worked as a travelling magician, putting on modest stage shows that focused more on up close trickery than her actual magic abilities. Her unique spell is Functional Disguise, she can cast it on her whole party and it will create a modification to their appearances that also enhance their perception. The change and the sense it enhances is random each time, but it is guaranteed to change the subject enough that they are not easily recognizable. Duration varies based on spell level. Ex. A funny nose an moustache sprout on your face and your sense of smell is greatly enhanced for the duration. A set of eyes not your own and a pair of thick glasses appear and you have dark vision for the duration. Suddenly appearing to be part goblin, your new massive ears give you much improved hearing.

Before she started on her path as a wizard she had been picking up jobs as a thief. She had grown up in show biz as an acrobat and was excellent at getting into hard to reach places. Her size and agility made her an excellent rogue. On her last job she was hired for a heist that was meant to go wrong, and was intentionally kept in the dark to be a scapegoat when the dust settled. What they didn't expect was for her to catch on halfway through the heist, and improvise her way out, stealing the magic staff they had been targeting for herself and vanishing.

The magic staff soulbound to her during the escape, and she has been learning magic with its help since the heist. Her leg was injured in her escape, ending her career as a rogue but not as a performer. Her need to lay low and her newfound abilities gave her the idea of a new identity as a flashy magician. She chose her persona to be something entirely different from herself so she would be unrecognizable even to her closest friends.

Her magician / drag persona is named The Dazzling Sir Jacques Away! It is a disguise as well as a stage personality, and she only goes into public when dressed up as him. She loves her stage show, and the confidence performing gives her, but longs to be able to choose when to be herself. She is tired of running and staying in hiding and wants to be able to settle down and make connections again. She is so so lonely : ( She may die in the tournament, but if winning means gaining enough power that she can be free? She is willing to risk it all.
