We toasted our success with gin & tonics. We have travelled 2094 nautical miles (that’s 2410 normal miles) since we set off on 6th April 2017 and we’ve enjoyed very nearly every minute! We’ve had a few things go wrong mechanically, but the old girl is in her 11th season now (Zenith, not Carol). Nothing that can’t be fixed.
We are proud of what we’ve achieved, and I’m sure it won’t be too long before we start planning our next adventure.
Thank you for reading this blog. Although it is a keepsake for us, it is the fact that we know people enjoyed reading it that kept us updating it on a daily basis. Watch this space for the next instalment!
This is Zenith, over and out.

After settling in Carol went to post a letter. The steam railway runs all year. The King George II was just coming in tender first. It is always an impressive sight.

Ah! Dartmouth on a sunny afternoon. Lovely.
We’re going to leave Zenith in the marina here for the winter. Not only is it a change of scenery, it’s actually cheaper than Brixham.

We were very nearly there when, in his profiterole vision, Martin saw this absolutley massive fish jump completely out of the water. He thought it was a tuna.

We headed out towards the Bill. There was no race to speak of. Despite the spring tides, the tides they were a changing so there was only a few knots of current.
We just missed a fog bank, it was only about 59 yards awY at one point.

We set off at 12.50 when the tides were right for Portland Bill. We were heading for the southern exit of Portland harbour, but as we approached Carol noticed there was a chain across it! Really?? What’s all that about then?
We changed course and went out of the middle exit. We were glad we didn’t try that in the dark!

A large boat with sea cadets went out, then a large square rigger, the TS Royalist came in to refuel.

Thursday 27th September
We woke to a fine morning. There had been a heavy dew but it wasn’t as cold as last night. Carol had spotted some interestingly named boats on the way to the wash block.
