Hmm, well when they went back in time Test Tube panicked about “changing the timeline” and because she made the machine, I’d assume she knows how it’s time travel functions.

Although, the machine wasn’t properly finished, and we see the other contestants still painting.

So, I’d guess it makes an alternate timeline when/if something changes.

I believe Marshmallows though was linear though, if you need either type of time shenanigans.
