One of the things I realized growing up was that my parents never asked why I did the behavior they hated. Why I smoked at 13. Why I drank at 14. Why I tried to kill myself at 15. It was always just hostility and anger, and that I simply wanted attention. They were upset they couldn’t ‘control’ me, in their own words. That I simply liked embarrassing them and making their lives difficult. Not once was I asked why I was suffering.

NPD is a serious mental illness effecting those in a relationship with or children too people with NPD. I really wish I had known about this disorder years ago so I could have learned how to avoid my mothers manipulative ways instead of being told by my brainwashed family I was just insane.
