So the kanji used for Mashu's name can be translated to Matthew. Matthew means "gift from god." Kyrie is Latin for "Lord." and light means light. Now I'm not very good at this kind of stuff, but I think that means that one possible meaning for the name "Mashu Kyrielight" would be "one gifted with the light of God." does that sound right to you?

Sounds good to me. Although you could take Mash herself as the gift so like “The Lord’s Gift of Light.” Either way makes the fact that her mentor who helped awaken her NP was Cu Chulainn, Ireland’s Son of Light, even better.

"Mashu" is the phonetic pronunciation of Matthew written in Japanese katakana (マシュー). It got changed to "Mash" (マシュ) because fans outside of Japan started calling her Mash and it got super popular. [Her first VDay CE] even originally said Matthew on it, but got changed to Mash later.

Still really hate that Mashu is being called "Mash" so universally, I fucking despise it. Fucking shitty translation, lazy and garbage. Everyone ignored "Altria", why the fuck are they accepting "Mash"?

Man I do have some legit criticism of F/GO Jacques though, and it’s my old soapbox I have to get on every time that people who got executed in ye olden times for witchcraft and devil worship weren’t actually witches and devil worshippers, and as cool as witches and devil worshippers are it’s genuinely bad that so much popular media goes “No, you see! They really were witches and devil worshippers!!!!”. Even if you portray it as “witches and devil worshippers are cool actually”, it still perpetuates the lies and slander and bullshit charges that got these people murdered in the first place. So it’s pretty cruel for F/GO to release Arcade Jacques, a more historically accurate Jacques where the whole point of his character is that he was slandered and treated like dogshit and executed for bullshit crimes and false charges, only for Mobage Jacques to double down on and ramp up said slander and false charges and go all-in on her being an actual devil-worshipping villain. Even with Innocent Monster being in full force it’s still really really bad.
