It was the hardest hike I’ve ever had in my life because it’s prohibited, dangerous, and physically hard. There are a few facts about it: 📇 It is called "Stairway to Heaven" 🪖 The stairs were built during World War Il for soldiers to access the Radio Station used to transmit radio signals to Navy ships. This Radio Station is the final destination of this trail ⏳The round trip took us 9h 🪜We've passed 3922 stairs one way 🏔The elevation was 2800 feet 📐 Sometimes the inclination angle was 90° 👮‍♂️The police is patrolling the area around for the whole day 🔫 Some local was pointing a shotgun at us to turn us back It was a horror of mud in the forest, that's why we had to: 🥾 wear hiking boots 🧤 buy special gloves 🦔 buy spikes for our boots Also, we were surprised that the stairs are in a good condition since WW2. Only the 5th part of the stairs was broken by the storm. #AllTrails says that Waihee Ridge Trail is a hard hike 💪. We didn’t find it hard it was ok (maybe it’s harder when it’s raining). There ware a lot of mud, small streams on the trail and floating ground, but we were prepared after hiking in Costa Rica. Bonneville Salt Flats was the last major stop of the Thanksgiving trip 2021.
