Mr. & Mrs Discrimination, I cannot be indifferent with regard to what has happened with the murder of George Floyd and the consequences we are facing in the world, as well as the United States, the country that has received me. My life experiences have taught me to recognize early on what racism, classism and sexism are. I have lived through situations where I have had to remain silent or watched from afar descrimination within the Chileans cultures. Both sides Class discrimination amongst depending on socioeconomic class exists, as well as inferiority feelings against Chileans native and immigrants from underdeveloped foreign countries. I believe is that racism is found in some form or another in all cultures, even including myself, a normal white male. I grew up as a person of privilege in Chile yet I have also been discriminated against for being a Latin immigrant in the U.S. This is why I declare my rejection of any and every gesture of descrimination or hatred but also every act of violence in any form or representation. We cannot respond to racism with the same aggression it presents itself and feed the anger that is a much deeper social and cultural problem rooted in history. We cannot fall to the level of intolerance and blind ourselves with revenge, that is not to attack the root of the conflict. We must talk about discrimination and educate the young in an eye-opening way and seek understanding with our close ones who think differently. In my experience, racism has been transferred from generations from our elders. We must foster dialogue by educating the ignorant prejudices of a multicultural and multiracial society. I trust that We will defeat you by your greatest enemies, love and understanding. I’m positive that your future will become part of a painful history. You will be remembered, but only by reading about you in books as if you are a horror story. We will see you in movies, but never on the streets or in our own homes, because every time you threaten to come back, a new generation will fight back in a different way than ever before.
