Rookie Episode 6x01 - Review
For a show to be in its 6th season, and to have such a jam-packed season premiere. This was a great start to the season and I cannot wait to see what they will have for the next 9 episodes.
Things that I loved:
-Harper's reaction to the shooting: Her character has always been a hard-nosed nothing impacts her type of character. To see her impacted in such a profound way is amazing. I look forward to how this will play out for the rest of the season.
_ Lucy spiralling/Chenford fight: As much as many people don't like angst, but this needed to happen. Lucy is carrying a lot of baggage from her life. Lucy is a typical self-sabotager. I don't think she has felt secure in her relationship with Tim since Isabel returned. It opened a wound for Tim and created insecurity for her. If they are going to make it as a couple, they need to work through this. I think it was good that Tim walked away and didn't say something in the heat of the moment.
-Opening Action: I don't think I ever thought of The Rookie as an action show. It really felt very high-stakes and locked me in from the start. I hope they continue with the action, but keep it in check and don't go overboard with it.
Things that I didn't love:
-Last shift superstitions: I know that this is supposed to be the comic relief in the show, but I find that the superstitions are too much of a distraction. Especially, with Celina, I find it hard to believe that as a rookie cop, she is allowed so much leeway with these superstitions. Hopefully, they will tone this down for future episodes.
-Not knowing Anglea'Wopez's baby name: This was a small thing, but it felt off that we didn't find out Wopez's baby name. I figure we will find it out in the next episode
I am looking forward to the rest of the season, I am curious how they will be able to tell a 22-episode season story arc into 9 more episodes. Who is Monica working with? Will Aaron suffer PTSD? How will the shooting impact Harper? So many theories, and so many stories to unfold. From this first episode, I think The Rookie is gearing up for their best season yet!

Mini rant- Lucy needs to be promoted!
I understand that John Nolan is the lead character in The Rookie, but at this point, it is ridiculous that Lucy has not been promoted or given a Golden Ticket after all she has accomplished.
Between the time she was a rookie and then a P2 officer, Lucy has been a part of 4 operations that have taken down 3 drug dealers and 1 gun dealer. She has completed UC school and was told that if she completed it, all the different divisions would clamour to have her as part of their team. Nolan took down some gang at the border (we don't know why they were bad), and he received a Golden Ticket. Also, why the hell was Aaron talking about being a detective after he became a P2 officer.
My hope for season 6 is that Lucy will see a promotion and movement in her career. She has accomplished so much more than the men on the show and deserves to be recognized.
Thanks for reading my mini-rant. I am counting the days to Feb. 20th, and we can see the whole crew in action.

Excited for Season 6
I was already excited for season 6, but after this morning's trailer, I have so many questions and can't wait for them all to be answered in however many episodes we get.
I know not everyone is thrilled about the trailer, but I think they did a good job of balancing the old with the new without giving too much away. If the trailer was made up of all-new scenes, I think that people would be upset, as it would have given too much away.
What I love about this fandom is that there is no right way to feel . As long as we are all tuning in and watching when the season starts on Feb. 20.
It has been a long 10 months, but we are almost there. Bring on the angst, the humour and the romance. Season 6 looks to be shaping up to be a great season.

Thoughts on the trailer sneak peek kiss
Here are my 2 cents not that anyone asked for them on the trailer sneak peek. Before the wedding, Tim will tell Lucy that he loves her. Lucy, being Lucy will be caught off guard, because she has never told anyone that she loves them. Lucy doesn't say it back and they go off to work. There is tension between them throughout the day. Tim shows up for the wedding late, with a cut to his face. In the intimate moment of their dance, Lucy tells Tim that she does love him, they kiss again and it transitions to something else.

Bothering me since last night...
In one of my favourite episodes in Season 3, Man of Honor Tim mentions that he met Angela's original Maid of Honor at Angela's niece's Quinceañera. It has been bothering me since last night that I can't figure out which one of Angela's brothers has a kid. Clearly not the priest, I think it may be Bruno the one that they didn't show. I would love to hear other people's thoughts on which one of Angela's brothers has a child. Totally random, but it is always funny when The Rookie's storyline continuity is so off.

Denial of Partner is Key
This is a different take on Chenford - over the course of the season Tim is always quick to point out that Lucy is not his partner, that she is his gofer, aide or whatever term he has used to diminish his feelings. I do believe that in the back episodes of this season something will happen to Tim that will force Lucy to realize her feelings for Tim and it will be something to cause her to have a reaction that others will think she is overreacting. In the aftermath of whatever happens to Tim, he will feel embolden to confess his feelings for Lucy and she will feel the need to do the same. I do believe that this will be the catalyst to them moving forward and being a couple. These are just my thoughts and perhaps some hopeful wishes. We will see how this turns out.
