[ID: A digital bust portrait of Katara coloured in blue tones. She faces the viewer with a stern expression and her hands are raised near her face with water floating between them. She’s wearing the top section of her hair pulled back while the rest flows around her, covering her chest and shoulders so that only her hands and necklace are visible. Her hair loopies are braided. End ID.]

Reblogging with tags from @kataraslove : "katara's faith in aang has always been a core theme of the series #and it's very telling that when she goes into battle she never doubts aang #she knows that it is HIS destiny #kataang meta"
"He's gonna come back. He has to."
Tumblr media
When it comes to the discourse about Katara's feelings in regards to being in a relationship with Aang, I feel like this moment from the finale often gets overlooked despite it being incredibly important. I believe this is for two reasons: 1 - The moment itself is relatively short. 2 - The moment in question occurs in the first scene of episode 3x20, the one where all of the characters begin their final push against the Fire Nation; therefore, it feels like what happens here is often forgotten about in comparison to everything else that happens afterwards. Regardless of this, I love how Katara responds to Zuko's worried feelings about Aang losing by responding with: "Aang won't lose. He's gonna come back. He has to." I totally understand and (partially) agree with people who wanted to see a conversation between Aang and Katara addressing what happened at the Ember Island Play in a separate scene before the final kiss at the end of the series. That is a completely valid thing to want. That being said, I think that what we did end up getting still works in that Katara's feelings about Aang are made clear to the audience without her having to explicitly say that she loves him. Some parts of the fandom will try and say that Katara was confused about the prospect of being with Aang because of her not knowing if she loved him in a romantic way; however, I feel that this moment at the beginning of the penultimate episode of the series pretty clearly shows that this wasn't what she was confused about. She was confused on if being with Aang before the war was over was the right choice given that one or both of them could be killed in the ensuing fight. Katara and Aang are the heart and soul of the show so it makes sense why the story ends with them beginning their romantic relationship, but I think from a broader perspective, it also helps convey the idea to the audience that these characters, among all of the others as well, can finally rest, recoup, and love each other to the fullest extent without the fear of the Fire Nation taking that away from them. Katara grew to love and believe in Aang, and I think this moment exemplifies that so well that I wanted to give it some recognition.

I might get burned at the fandom stake here, but I personally think Zuko x Katara x Aang being a thing when they are older would be very interesting and hilarious. Just hear me out-
Katara and Aang, married, both looking at Zuko: "Hey so my wife and I saw you across the bar, and we saved the world together and all so, can I get you some tea?" kinda vibe.
Like the three of them are all each other's narrative foils and parallels. They circulate each other narratively and emotionally throughout the whole series and even comics. When they're all older restoring peace around the world, they would have all spent so much time together I like to think it would just, kinda Click for them

there are a lot of reasons i don't vibe with evil water tribe/good fire nation atla aus but i think one of the main ones is that people try to swap zuko & sokka and azula & katara and that just doesn't work bc the emotionally driven one standing up for what they believe in is katara and the high-strung strategist trying to make their dad proud is sokka

If i had a nickel for every time Peyton List played a ghost that could only be seen by one single person I'd have 2 nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice

GIRL HAUNTS BOY (2024): Dumb but disarmingly sweet fantasy comedy, adapted from the Cesar Vitale YA novel, about a teenage boy named Cole Sanchez (Michael Cimino) who discovers that his new house is haunted by the ghost of a teenage girl named Bea Jenkins (Peyton List), who was hit by a car almost 100 years ago after pocketing a cursed ring during a museum field trip, and who is now visible only to anyone who wears the ring. Reminiscent in both tone and plot of the 1987 romcom MANNEQUIN, it suffers from some lazy scripting, and while Cimino is handsome and can sing (a central part of the plot is Cole and Bea bonding through music), he never manages to make Cole seem anything other than bland. However, the charm of the scenario and List's endearingly sincere performance make up for a lot, and the final scene is touching. CONTAINS LESBIANS? Alas. VERDICT: Very thin but surprisingly pleasant.

Directed by Emily Ting, Girl Haunts Boy is the cozy young adult love story I didn’t know I needed—perfect for those who prefer their spooky season viewing to be less scary and more wholesome. While I wish it were a true romance with a happily ever after, it’s still a film worth watching and appreciating. Based on the upcoming novel by Cesar Vitale, viewers are in for a delightful treat.
Starring Peyton List and Michael Cimino, Girl Haunts Boy is a well-written, thoughtfully heartwarming film that explores grief by carefully intermingling the past and present. This is for every person who loves Taylor Swifts “Invisible String” and the idea that people who are meant to meet always will. It’s also fitting for those who loved Netflix’s Julie and the Phantoms.

It's literally a Hispanic musician singer songwriter who hasn't played or sung or written any music since their same-gender parent died even tho music was their life, bc that parent was so integral to it and taught them it. Then the living musician found in their house a white ghost who also loves music so much and didn't know how long they had been - or even that they were - dead and together they can both sing and play piano and guitar and the living musician has a black teacher trying to reach them and the ghost brings music back into their life and they have to help the ghost finish their unfinished business and they're each other's first love
Guys I just found this movie called Girl Haunts Boy and it is literally the gender swapped version of Julie and the Phantoms

a new deal democrat with a willingness to kill is MY congressman. yeah i'd vote for that rn
proudly served in the first integrated American military unit a full decade before Truman desegregated the army. New Deal democrat like every other New Yorker in the 40s. Probably does not know we are not still doing the new deal. Named after gay president. Dual Wakandan citizen. Killed billionaire capitalist war profiteer Howard Stark. Kind of bisexual with it. Assassinated JFK so that LBJ could pass the civil rights act. Is Congressman James Buchanan Barnes woke.
