The 'rude/demanding' tone would be stuff along the lines of "if you like but don't reblog I'll [threat]" which i see surprisingly often, both serious and more silly

eyes and character design in natsume yuujinchou 🤔

so. many of the youkai-seeing characters in this series have slit pupils.

photos, in order: natsume takashi, natsume reiko, matoba seiji, takuma yousuke, shinobu, yorishima, natori shuuichi

on a sliding scale, the natsumes, matoba, and takuma are at one end, with natori having rounder pupils at the other. yorishima and shinobu sit somewhere in the centre of this scale. here’s where the youkai-seeing outlier comes in:

nanase! has very round pupils. interesting!

but then characters who have little-to-no sight have very round pupils as well.

tanuma and taki! would include other characters but i’ve ran out of images. touko, souko, shigeru, nishimura, etc. all follow this pattern

We got given a duck just like that!! Apparently there's someone who's been going around giving tiny ducks to artists at cons here in new zealand and we ended up with one (somewhat on accident)

It somehow ended up on the ground between our table and our neighbour's, and they didn't want it (or know who it belonged to) so we ended up with it. after talking to some other local artists it turns out that a lot of them have found random tiny ducks like this left on their tables at other conventions around the country, so there's apparently just a mysterious Duck Gifter going around the artist alleys here

(I doubt it's the same person as OP as we don't have barnes and noble here, but I do like that gifting people tiny ducks is apparently an international phenomenon)

honestly tho, I complained abt this on twitter already, but I am so entirely baffled by the whole bigcartel thing. and not even in just a 'screwing over artists' way but in a 'screwing over their own business model' way. I genuinely don't know how they expecting 'raising their prices by literally 50% in a financial crisis' to not go over any way other than terribly given their entire business model lmao

like their highest tier now costs the same (actually technically $1USD more lol) as a shopify sub. you know, shopify, probably the best and most customisable online shop platform there IS. and you're trying to charge as much as them for a shop platform that doesn't even let people post reviews for your products???? what???

they just do not understand their own business' audience on even a basic level. bigcartel was never popular cause they were the best, they were just a good affordable option for smaller creators who couldn't afford shopify but didn't want to pay out the nose in fees with etsy. the second they stop being affordable no ones going to bother with it

also I know I did say next shop update was gonna be in april, but it'll probably end up being pushed back to early-ish may instead. mostly cause I need to entirely change shop platforms on account of bigcartel jacking up their subscription fees... I am not paying $25NZD a month just to open my shop lol. so I'm moving to storenvy instead

and honestly looking at storenvy it's probably for the best. they have way more features even on their free plan, and people can actually post reviews for things! which bigcartel weirdly doesn't let you do. kinda baffling for a shop platform tbh...

They do charge more in fees, so I will have to raise my prices a bit, but tbh I probably needed to do that anyway

Ooh yay the new ribbons for my bookmarks arrived. I only got enough ribbons for half of them last time so I was running pretty low. I went with a different seller this time cause the previous one seems to only sell ribbons in random lots, and its more economical to buy them individually now that I know what colors I want

The quality is a little different tho, you can see the comparison below. The left is the old one (just with a darker red cause I ran out of the normal red) and the new on the right:

The new ones are def a much thinner material, and are slightly wider? They don't fit in the hole as neatly, but they are easier to tie. The old ones always felt a little loose tbh. A lot of the new colours are a better match as well which is nice. Tho somehow the purple I got for the violet bookmarks matches the cynder bookmarks better?? I mean it works out well cause they didn't have a good wine/magenta colour so I was gonna just wait and order it from somewhere else, but now I guess I need another purple instead lol

(Also got a silver one cause it seemed like a handy colour to have)

Anyway all things considered they're decent enough for ribbons that were only 80c each on aliexpress lmao
