honestly i never thought abt hisoka casually participating in poker and effortlessly winning BIG all the time. Like he gets the jackpot and he looks so bored like its a regular saturday to achieve that. Shit, hes RICH RICH huh.

hisoka really just lets his arms get severed and walks around with them stitched up together like its a regular saturday for him. im so fascinated with how he simply views his body as a vessel for enacting his twisted desires and if the vessel is damaged in the process, so be it

he'd heal himself afterwards only to do it all over again. even when his limbs are damaged beyond repair; aka post chrollo fight, he forces his abilities to evolve JUST so he can repair himself again and go back to repeat the same cycle. over and over and over. He searches for more people to add to his toybox for future fights even with the troupe hunting his ass on the ship! even with the current state his body is in!

which makes his relationship with illumi SO insane. I wonder how much forming a genuine connection to another human impacted his own reflection of himself and his body. his identity. its not easy being all on your own with nothing to lose then suddenly gaining something to lose. someone to lose.

If anything, i'd argue that the one who gets affected the most by the relationship is Hisoka. Illumi has had love all his life, even if its toxic/familial love. He's ALWAYS been surrounded by his people. His life revolves around his people. Hisoka, as far as we know about him, has never truly cared about anything other than himself beyond Illumi. The transition between being alone against the world and having someone by your side would be the most jarring to him.

i always see talks abt illumis disconnection with his own body and identity but the same could be said for hisoka tbh. theyre really two sides of the same coin. illumi transforms himself to achieve his goals and hisoka lets others hurt him to do the same thing. Theyre really.... meant to be.
